Good on him for bowing out of something he couldn't do justice to, but I have to wonder...Not inspired by the character? Not enough money on the table? Seems a poor excuse for someone who could direct anything...

If you extrapolate her comic book background....

Library science=computer science and make her into Geek girl goes mad because of all she's seen on the dark web, and although she passes on info to Batman, she gets tired of the ever slow wheels of justice and decides to take matters into her own hands after Batman gets injured, and along with her tech and gadget friendlies, goes rogue.

See, there's a story and it literally took less than 5 minutes to come up with. Throw in a few high tech tricks and a joke or two about PMS and latex and we're there!

This should have been right in his wheel house, but perhaps his one note tune has finally gotten old ?

Didn't have a story for Batgirl ? Really Joss ? No thoughts of dressing up Buffy in a skin tight suit w/ little bat ears on the head ? Probably having flashbacks to some of his casting couch antics...

Probably for the best.

But now that Joss is out of the ' grrl power ' business, what else does he have ?

To be fair it's possible he's fed up with comic book super hero's. I've read he's working on a WW2 horror story, that may be what he's really interested in making.

I read today that they wanted him to do the movie from the point where she gets shot and tries to fight crime from a wheelchair while partially paralyzed. I'm not sure a LOT of people would watch that. I'm sure that disabled people deserve a movie, but yeah, that would be a tough sell.

Sounds like a cop out, imo. If he truly didn't want to do BG, then why jump at the project ? I think this has something to do w/ the #MeToo stuff and his own skeletons having been revealed, but hey, I could be wrong. It just looks bad, w/ all the timing.

I was looking for another thread in here and found this one.

They ended up giving it to another feminist writer. The one who wrote the failed Birds of Prey and the failed The Flash.

0 for 3 in the DC universe for her. I'm sure they already have her hard at work on the next flop now that the strike is over.

But she must have learned something. Like I said in my review of The Flash, I thought it was an excellent movie as far as superhero movies go, and I feel that it gets a lot of hate just because fans are tired of what both DC and Marvel have done to their properties in the last 4 years.

It had a surprisingly low level of woke content for a 2023 movie in general, and I felt that they didn't disrespect the legacy of Keaton's Batman like Disney has done with Luke Skywalker and Indiana Jones.

I could have done without the "I am Batman" line though, and the lowest energy possible "you wanna get nuts" callback was the movie's pure cringe moment. I don't know who greenlights some of these ideas.
