Since I dumped Deus Ex Machina, I had to come up with a new series. That series is Remembrance. It describes the events leading up to something that shook the universe. Also, it's written from Simon Tam's point of view. Although the story takes place fifteen months after Miranda, the author (Simon himself) sees the events described in remembrance as having happened ten years ago.

So, basically, here's a timeline: Serenity (Pilot)--Eight months--Miranda--Fifteen months--The events described in Remembrance--Ten years--Simon Tam writes Remembrance
