Below are unanswered questions from the episode.
How many episodes before Inara and Mal make with the smoochies? (for real)
Does anyone know what the tune was played at the settlers party early in the episode? It sounds very familier, but i`m stumped. Ive searched online for Firefly music refs but no joy. Any help would be great. Thanks Keep Flying!
When Mal was telling Saffron about growing up on Shadow, did him saying he was raised by forty hands mean he was rich? {Or, at least pretty well off?} I'm not really familiar with how a ranch works so it could just be the norm and I just don't know it.
In response to the song question, its called ¨Saffron's Wedding Dance¨, and though not avalible on any official OST, can be found done by some guys calling themselves the Bedlam Bards. Not as much flute as the original, but its all I could find.
exactly who is mrs. reynolds, is she with the allaince or just someone who likes stealing spaceships from people and sending them thru nets.

Below are speculations about events or items in the episode.  These speculations are subjective.
our "stowaway" will be a recurring character
There's far more to being a Companion than simply being a glorified "Lady of teh Night" Covert Ops?
Every time I watch this, with regards to the companions, I always get a Bene Gesserit type vibe from them (read Frank Herbet's "Dune"). Almost like, say, the Guild is rather more politically involved than anyone admits (who would have more power, the man, or the group that pulls the strings of the lady that has "his full attention?") Some of the ideas Inara touches on (and some of the speculations bounced around) suggests that they have this huge amount of knowledge of, and training with human social/psychosexual reactions, and know just how to use them, clinically almost. Add to that the fact that they would seem to know a fair amount about techniques like the good-night kiss, and the oft-mooted, pure speculation, never explicitly confirmed "death to any rapist" thing, that seems very much to key into ideas about Poison Maidens, and we get a Guild that's a lot deeper into politics (and quite probably assassinations) than you see. Which would put Inara's standing/distance from the Guild at given points in the series and movie in a very new light.

Below are notes about events or items in the episode.
I was frustrated that I knew about the girl from last week's "on next week's..." trailers.
Thankyou Joss! I loved how no one batted an eye thinking about Saffron(sp?) kissing Inara. A great throw away bit of humor that quickly deals with an issue most sci-fi shows avoid like the plague. He made no big deal of it, there was no dwelling on it. Well done!
The tune for the dance where River joins in is an English Country Dance tune. I don't recall the name, but I've played it many times at Renaissance Faires. It's probably in Playford's _Dancing_Master_.
