Ok I did it! I avoided spoilers for the last ever episode!

It was so good! But now I'm so depressed!

Spike at the poetry slam was the best way for him to go out. I couldn't stop laughing.

Also loved the Lorne/Lindsay thing.

What did other Uk viewers think?

ps. Sorry for the overuse of exclamation marks. I'm really hyper and have no-one here to talk to about it.

I almost did it - up until yesterday when a random comment on a message board spoiled Wesley's death for me. I could sort of see it coming but it did take the shine off a little bit.

As for the episode, I thought it was a little slow to get going but things picked up. The fight scenes seem to be nothing but Matrix these days but that didn't matter. There were the moments of pure Buffyverse that we needed for this thing to end on a high:

1) "That was for Cecily"
2) Harmony betraying - thank God someone finally noticed she's evil.
3) Anne - this kind of meaningful continuity is what makes Buffy and Angel so great.
4) "Goodnight, folks" - absolutely frickin' priceless. Lindsay being disappointed that Angel didn't kill him - genius.

Overall a fitting end to a great series.

Couldn't agree more. These were the best things for me too.

Did anyone else think Eve was going to be the twist though? I didn't expect it to be Harmony and the Lorne thing.

I'm sorry you were spoiled! I was so relieved to avoid spoilers this time. Last year my Maths class got out the final Buffy script and read it to me in maths. I was not happy!

Just got to avoid spoilers for the BDM now. I'm a complete Spoilerphobe.

I hate them too but it's so tough when you're in the UK and miles behind. Trying to visit any Buffy/Angel sites is nigh on impossible without getting spoiled. I was spoiled for all three deaths this season (and the Buffy finale's too!) and all by accident.

Now I find myself wondering how long we'll have to wait before we get some more. There is so much mileage left in ALL these characters.

Maybe we will get the series of feature length episodes following where they left off but I can't see it happening at the moment with Joss involved in Serenity and David Boreanaz relieved that the show is over.

Apparently they are going to make the Buffy animated series which will at least keep the Buffyverse alive a bit longer.

I just remembered another scene I liked from last night (I'm paraphrasing here):

Angel: 'One of you will betray me.'

italics .Spike raises his hand..

Angel: 'Wesley'

Spike: 'Can I at least deny you three times'.

That Spike line was classic and the Wesley betraying him was brilliant. It resolved the whole Wesley betraying him over Connor issue without saying anything as Angel implied he knew he wouldn't actually betray him.

The more I look back on this episode the more I love it.

I spent a few hours reading reviews of it last night. One thing I never really picked up was when Lorne said to Lindsey "I've heard you sing" - first time around I just got the impression that this meant Lorne knew he was evil but now I wonder if it's meant to mean that deep down Lorne knew that he would be the one to kill Lindsey in the end.

Exactly the same here. I just realised that might be what it meant.

I wanted Lindsay to be good when he came back to Angel. I was a bit disappointed that he turned out not to be because I love the way he left the first time.

I think they left that open in a way. The idea was that Lindsey *might* have become good...but it wasn't a chance Angel was willing to take. And yeah Dead End is one of my favourites :)

I loved tis episode - the whole Lorne - Lindsay thing was just a stroke of genius - it was a great ending especially Illyria's "I wish to do more violence" that made me chuckle! All in all a great finale. But did you all catch WB's little thank you at the end? Urgh! Please......

In thinking about that, while initially it disgusted me, it might have been genuine. Its possible the people making that had no connection to the people who canceled the show, there are many divisions etc in companies like this.

I also thought that Angel forced Lorne into this very unwelcome role sort of like the reverse of the end of "Camelot"--i.e., Lorne is the Thomas Malory-figure who is urged to get away from the battlefield. I don't think Lorne would give Angel a very good write-up though (assuming anybody survived to either tell or listen).

"Sadistic crap legitimized by florid prose"

I don't think Lorne would hold anything against Angel. I think he just finally realised that he'd become involved in something was above and beyond whatever he was intended to do. He'd been swept up and he finally realised it was time to get out.
