I was watching the Olympics last night and saw a commercial for yet another lawyer show and noticed that J. August Richards (Charles Gunn on Angel) was part of the cast. Back to being a lawyer, though this time, hopefully, without needing a demonic brain upload like on Angel. Good thing he has a background in law acting. Hahahaha. Just kidding.

Yeah, I kinda laughed when I saw Gunn playin a lawyer again. Unfortunately im not a fan of generic drama just to compete with the other law shows on tv. But if you have an ipod you can download the pilot episode of "Conviction" Starring Charles Gunn on itunes for FREE!!! I downloaded it already but I havent watched it yet.

Oh, the comparisons to Wolfram & Hart are sure to be a plenty. I'm just glad to see another of the old gang back on screen again.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I was flipping around the channels last night and saw that The Devil's Advocate was on and it got me thinking about Wolfram and Hart. Similar ideas (though this movie came out first) of a law firm being run by evil forces. Though I doubt this was a novel concept.

Just a follow up on having seen 'Conviction' last week.

Meh

I wasn't blown away by Conviction, to be honest. I liked Bones, and The Inside more, but this didn't suck either. J. August was ...well, almost Gunn like. His character wasn't the focus of any side stories, but hopefully we'll see him more. Dunno how long this will last though.

If you like that idea, check out the show "Profit" - yet another short-run series from Fox that was cancelled way early, created by David Greenwalt. It looks like kind of a precursor of Wolfram&Hart, and Joss and Greenwalt say W&H was loosely based on that show's firm. Not, you know, EVIL evil with horned demons and such; just the regular back-stabbing kind of lawyer evil. Pretty cool show, really. The "hero", Jim Profit (played by Adrian Pasdar) is a pure sociopath who's also a devilishly good lawyer, and who'll stop at absolutely nothing in his quest for power.

It's hard to find, but it's out on DVD. 13 episodes, I believe it was, though I think it was cancelled after 9. I'd never heard of it 'til someone here pointed it out to me, and it was worth watching.

I've been watching "Conviction" because I'm a sucker for that whole Law&Order franchise (except I never saw any of the "Trial By Jury" spinoff). I still like "Criminal Intent" the best, but only because of Vincent D'Onofrio's acting skills. Conviction hasn't quite roped me in yet, but I'm willing to give it a chance. I'd like to see more tie-ins between Alexandra Cabot (the DA in Conviction, and a former ADA from L&O) and the other franchise shows to pull it deeper into the... what? "Orderverse"? Anythough, I'll watch it - but I won't be surprised if it doesn't last.

It sounds like I watch too much TV, and I'm sure I do. The only shows I'll really go out of my way to watch, though, are L&O, L&O: SVU, L&O: CI, and The West Wing. At least one of those is going away this year (West Wing). So, I basically have about 4 hours of "must-see" TV in a week. Okay, more if there's an F1 race. Oh, and I'm hooked on Gilmore Girls for some reason, but that's probably going away this year or next. I find myself watching DVDs of Joss's shows about as much as I watch regular TV.
