I got this off The Bronze Beta Page, would post a link, but it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY down the page, so here is the cut and paste fro you!

Hi, Chris Buchanan here from Mutant Enemy. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Thought it was about time (OK, it's way past time), to give all of the ANGEL fans an enormous shout out/thank you directly from Joss and all of us at Mutant Enemy.

Your kind words, support and efforts (flowers, beanie babies, postcards, mobile billboards, adverts, etc., etc.) in the weeks since the cancellation of ANGEL was announced, have been darn near overwhelming. We really, really appreciate the love.

It goes without saying here at the Bronze Beta, but I also wanted to let you all know that the Buffy/Angel-verse will never die.

While we consider the possibility of Season 6 of ANGEL as remote as the discovery of WMDs in Iraq, Mutant Enemy already has plans for more tales from the world of ANGEL. I can't comment on exactly what form they'll take, but rest assured, it's in the works.

Thanks again to all of the fans, the "Save Angel" organizations, and your efforts taken in our behalf.

You kids are the best!

Buchanan

Something just dawned on me; I wonder if the Serenity 'Versal deal is in the process of becoming a Mutant Enemy multi-picture deal? Wouldn't that be Shiny?!?

Well, supposedly 'Versal greenlighted "Serenity" because they've been wanting to lure Joss into their orbit. So I'm betting on a multi-picture deal thingie here. Which bodes well for Joss fans in general. I don't know how well Angel would work as a movie; there's so much back story! How could you make a standalone?

Well, Serenity has its share of excessive back story as well, but I see your point. However, we will have to see how Season 5 wraps up, maybe it is a good stopping point, which would lead to some sort of new direction.

Hell, I don't know anything, just thinking out loud really...

maybe they can make a Buffy/Angel movie. not necessarily with "Buffy" and "Angel" but with characters from both casts and a more or less independent story in the Buffy/Angel-verse.

there are sooo many possibilities.

could then lead to a new series too. maybe a "New Watcher Council" series with Giles and Wesley and maybe Willow and/or Xander and/or Gunn or whomever as Watchers-in-spe. looking out for all the Slayers and building the new council, with help from Angel and Spike of course or somesuch. maybe british based? with some new characters thrown in and some old ones recurring. Faith is still around too.

I don't know. maybe in some years. some of the actors will probably want a break now and again to do other stuff. that's why they are actors in the first place I think to play different roles. but apart from the vamps there's nothing wrong with them getting some years older. and Spike is probably fine, James Marsters doesn't seem to change in any way noticable, I bet he'll probably look about the same 5-10 years from now. and with Angel we're all used to him looking different each year, no one's gonna complain if he looks older, are we?

I don't know that much about how Angel will end up because I haven't seen Angel S5 yet. I'm still stuck in S2 because I only discovered the Buffyverse a few months ago. I've seen all of Buffy though, most of it twice or three times. I watch pretty fast (DVDs and downloads where there are no DVDs yet).

it's really good to know they are planning on doing something else in the 'verse. it's a good 'verse with lot's of interesting characters and new stories to be written and enjoyed. Buffy had her 7-year run, Angel had 5 years maybe it's a good thing to give some other character(s) center stage for the next show. David Boreanaz said something somewhere that he wouldn't be too unhappy with a break. he has a small kid, right? we should always take a look at the actors side of it too. they are not slaves of us fans who have to do what we think is best, they have lifes of their own too and they should be happy with their work. and a TV series is a lot of work I think.

All good points on the previous post. Also, Dark Horizons ( www.darkhorizons.com) is reporting that Gina Torres said at a recent con that Joss is looking to get David Boreanaz on board fro the Serenity movie. SO it all looks good for seeing our fave actord continue on with Joss. And hopefully this will lead to David getting an Angel movie.

While things looked bad with the cancelation, maybe it was for the bast as Joss can move on to bigger and better epics via movies!

P.S. This news is under Film and TV Casting Rumbles on the main page of Dark Horizons if you want to check it out!

This makes sense, though I would wager Universal's true target with this are Buffy movies. It was always the most widely recognized and critically acclaimed series; not that I can point to specifics, but I remember a lot of television critics wrote/spoke out on the demise of Buffy, how they would miss the show, and chastizing the viewing public for not embracing the show more. In it's heyday, Buffy had the highest ratings of any Joss Whedon tv show. Essentially, I have a strong feeling that we'll get a Buffy movie in a few years, probably after Serenity if it does well. Plus, a Buffy film would have Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is already an established film star and will have box-office draw by her name alone.

Oh, I don't think that Universal's target was Firefly in the least (though I do think the brisk DVD sales helped seal the deal). I think it was the dealmaker to get Joss--"love me, love my big damn movie."

If that means Buffy movies, I think Universal would be thrilled, but it remains to be seen if ME wants to revisit that franchise on the big screen. In fact, I'M not sure I want to see Buffyverse on the big screen. A part of what makes Buffy/Angel so good is the slight claustrophobia shooting in TV perspective (as opposed to widescreen) gives. It just kinda suits. I'm not sure if I'd like the loss of intimacy big screen would mean. (For our Big Damn Heroes, well, they's so many of em! You have to go widescreen just to fit em all in a shot!)

I'm betting Universal wants to see what-all our boy can cook up in addition to the established storylines. And I'm betting he's got all sortsa stuff we haven't even dreamed of under his superhero cape.

In my selfish way, I've been most upset with this whole thing because I'm worried Angel's demise will see the end of shows in the Buffyverse. The fact that more has been hinted at still doesn't stay my wanting to attack (civilly, with letters I swear) anyone standing between me and My Show (note the persistent selfishness). Overall, though, I was extremely happy to read this news.

I hope you like Guinness, sir. I find it a refreshing substitute for . . . food.

As Maylee pointed out above, JW probably got a lot more than meets the fan eye. Yeah, anything can go wrong, but what's on the table from Universal is probably pretty extensive. I'm feeling fairly expansive and happy for the Big Damn Future.

I can see the Buffy/Angel verse on the big screen but not in quite the same way we're used to. I'm up for it!
