If you want to see what has to be the best pilot never to be turned into a series check out "Global Frequency". Follow the link below to see a small review and some screen caps from the pilot. The episode can be downloaded threw emule and bittorrent.

I haven't seen it yet (currently downloading season two of Farscape - shhh!), but I frequent the blog of the showrunner/executive producer. He talked about how he was primed to have most of the writing staff from Angel once it got picked up, which then drew attention from whedonesque and buffista and apparently there is a movement beginning to save a show that never actually made it to air - a first!

Anyway, here's the blog:

It's one of the most entertaining on the net, and is mostly about working in television as a writer/developer. Check out the Jargon Preservation Project - awesome stuff!

ETA: For any LOST fans, check out LOST: You Uncurious Motherf**kers on the blog. Hilarity!

Watched it. Watched it again. Watched it a third time.

Somebody at WB needs their @$$ kicked for not moving on it.

Simply amazing.

CAPTBAGGYTROUSERS

I loved the comic it's based on and read each issue thinking "This is a treatment for a TV series. And it would make a great one." I really enjoyed the pilot; it wasn't perfect and had a few problems (the lead actors tense flirtation was a bit hackneyed), but overall it was quite good. I also hope somehow this series can happen, even though it looks like it's dead.

But I've heard of shows that died and came back in one form or another.

The only point to that is to let the cast/crew know they produced something great (which I'm sure they already do). The creator actually said he won't be involved with any attempt to save the show, presumably because at this point it's utterly futile.

HELL'S KITTEN

Finally saw it. Fucking brilliant.

(Pick up the original comics, which are out in trade paperback now! ... And suddenly I've become a Filthy Assistant / advertisement whore. Heh.)

And, personally, I'd never presume anything about the creator's intentions. I was under the impression that he was more of a consultant-y type and didn't have a whole lot to do with the actual television pilot. I could be entirely mistaken, though. Last I heard from him, he didn't want anything to do with a "grass roots" campaign to bring it back. (Why do I suddenly feel guilty for talking about him on a completely unrelated site?)

HELL'S KITTEN

I suspect there are at least some of you on this site who are also on BadSignal, which is where I got the following link:

http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/

Interesting reading, even if you haven't seen Global Frequency, especially for you Firefly fans and Whedonites. This is the blog of the - I think - executive producer of the pilot. Starting with the summary entry titled "GF Storm Surge" from 06/24, you can read through his posts as the GF "phenomenon" progresses (some of us on this site were even quoted in one of his posts... hee...). Some of this pilot's never-aired-life vaguely mimicks the plight of Firefly, which has gotten the attention of Whedon fanatics, among others.... Partially because there were a bunch of Buffy / Angel / Firefly writers (and JMS?!?) lined up for future episodes. Mainly, I'd like to think, because the never aired pilot was just so damn good. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it all.

For those of you who've never heard of Global Frequency, here's another fff.net thread about it, the first post being the best summary:

http://fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=10924#149876

And you can also find info on the show at www.frequencysite.com

(And shame on you who download the highly recommended never aired pilot copy of dubious legality on bit torrent. Shame.)

Cheers.
