Sitting here watching Out of Gas for the upteenth millionth time. All the music in the series is great but how the piano and violin swell as Mal walks thru an empty Serenity. gets the blanket and settles in the pilots seat gets me in the heart every time I hear it.

Is there any particular piece of music in Firefly that just tugs your heart strings?

Haaaa!! I think the same things about "out of gas". This episode gets me evertime with the music. There is a little tidbit of music when mal talks about moving a little further when the alliance comes reaching...that little two seconds of music is awsome.

Also the introduction of Serenity in the Serenity movie.

I have a particular fondness for the few bars that play just as the engine's firing for Wash to fly Serenity away from the derelict the crew's been robbing in the start of the pilot episode. That said, many bits are golden - River's dance in Safe and the dance music in OMR, anyone?

Objects in space, when River is talking to Early and says she'll be going with him.

Right after she says "can live simple" to the crew, a great violin string cuts in that plays out to the rest of the scene, best part.

Outside that, in serenity when we first see the ship as it pans off the words "Serenity" on the side of the ship and they enter atmo, and also the last 10 or so minutes of the movie where they play different soft variations of the main title string.

Lots of great music in the series.
