I was wondering, when we are all in our sixties, seventies and eighties, will we still be goin' OOOhhhh! when that guy gets kicked into Serenity's engine?
Will we still thrill to Buffy slamin' a vamp?
Will we still laugh when Spike talks about Angel's Angelmobile?

Picture yourself in 25 years, will you still be into it?

Knowing my psyche, I'd say yes. Joss's brand of humor is timeless. I'll be laughing at this stuff 'til the day I die.

P.S. - And when does Spike talk about the "Angelmobile"? I don't think I've gotten that far yet.

He mentions it during a visit to the Angel series in an episode- early in season one (My favourite season of tall dark and brooding).

It was good Chrisisall

Hells yeah! as my sig states, I believe Joss is a god! Not in the sense that he created the real world universe, but I've loved everything he's done and will keep on loving it until the day I die! Also, as I stated in "Season Seven is great because..." I think he is pure gold with his ideas.

yes. I think I'll always love Joss and his work, and I spent enough money on merchandise to keep it in my mind for a pretty long while. :)

Such a great topic.

Look back at some of the stuff from
25 years ago and ask if it does anything
for you.

If Grampa handed you a series he'd been
totally in love with, which one would grab
your attention and which one would just look
stale, and full of dated attitudes and ugly
makeup/costumes on the women?

(On a side note, about a star rather than
a show: I'd seen quite a few still photos
of {spelling?} Rudolph Valentino, a HUGE
silent film star whose early death had made
countless women utterly despondent, and in
none of them had I seen the least hint of
what any of those ladies had found attractive.
Then I saw one of his films. Even in the
primitive medium he was dashing, feline,
most definitely temperature-raising...
I was stunned. The stills remain uninspiring. Have we a similar star today?)

Definately. I've never gotten into a creator as much as I have Whedon so I still see myself singing along with OMWF and cursing at people in Chinese when I'm much older and (somewhat) wiser than I am now...

There are still people who go bibbity over the earliest scifi tv shows and radio dramas, like Tom Corbett: Space Cadet. I think I've even seen cons for things like Commander Buzz Corey and the Space Patrol (High adventure in the cold dark reaches of space....) Can't say I blame them. Space Patrol is a great radio drama.

If those people still have that kind of passion after 50 years, why do you even question if there will be flans still out in the black? Assuming I don't kick it before then I know I'll still be there. Watching the show, watching the BDM, watching the fan films. And watching the sudden but inevitable sequels.

Firefly is also kind of unique in the snes that it's sort of timeless.

You watch the Star Wars movies, and the first three seem old and have a different feel then the new ones. (But they are classic, and the old ones are better anyway.) And sci fi from the 80's looks and feels different than today.

Firefly isn't the case. The verse is original enough that I think we won't ever look at it and cringe (like with the first season of Buffy). And the fact that it's old fashion western mixed with a unique sci fi setting doesn't hurt either.

I feel like I'm not very good at explaining what's in my head, so hopefully that makes sense.

damn right I will! Joss Whedon is probably the only genius writer of the twentieth century and he will be honoured as our generations shakespeare in the centuries to come! In fact five hundred years from now Simon will be quoting 'Whedon from earth that was'

"We are not gonna die because we are so... very... pretty."

Sure I will - I'm still laughing over movies like Airplane and Monty Python, and still enjoying Close Encounters of the Third Kind, etc. Firefly had stronger legs then those.

Plus, the plots, stars, characters, and 'verse are just ... too ... damn .. pretty.

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

I will still be a fan. I may not remember if the show ever existed (at least until some TV special about short-lived shows with genius creators and die hard fans), but there will always be a place in my heart for this.

Forgive me, for I am new.
