YEEEEEEHHHAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

(ahem)

(lalalalala.....)"We've got ourselves a Shindig, Ain't she a beautiful sight, We've got ourselves a Shindig, Soarin' through the night....Come'on Gorram Browncoats, We aim to misbehave, Come'on to our Shindig, Party the Browncoat Way.....SHINDIG!!!!!!"

(Apologies to C.W. McCall)

Well, howdy everyone! (flicks hat brim up, sticks handrolled cigar in teeth) "Prudence" here....miss me???

Yes, I'll be at D*C, and so will lots of my goodies from the OTTB General Store at the SEBC table. I can't believe another ruttin' year has gone by already! I'm racin' 'round like a cow Jayne just slapped on the rump, tryin' to get everything tidied up 'fore we gotta move on out on Thursday.

I told the Mister that we got ourselves a shindig, and he actually wanted to bring his shiny lord suit and wear it again....ya coulda' knocked me over with a Jayne hat at that point!

Cedric...so we'll both be doing the browncoat in the parade, eh? I debated about it, as it don't fit so well this year (grad school hasn't helped my girlish figure any), but I'm bringin' a backup version and my Jayne gear just in case also. Maybe marchin' in the ATL heat will help melt some off me, but there's gonna be far too many tasty beverages around to counteract that! (you all DO remember the Dragon*Con food pyramid right? Alcohol, Caffiene, and Sugar!)

I'm making a concerted effort this year to spend time at Browncoat parties, even if it kills me...uhhh, maybe not the best choice of words there, given last years fun with the doc, but I DO aim to misbehave...

....and interview some of you shiny people for a research project I'm doing (taking off beat up cowboy hat, putting on academic tam for a minute).

I'm going to have questionnaires at the SEBC table about your fan activities -- fiction, art, RPGs, videos, whatever you do to show your love for the 'verse. I also want to interview some volunteers, and will have a signup sheet for those who would be willing to let me audio record a brief interview with you about why you do what you do, and if you get involved with other fandoms the same way. I'm especially interested in talking to people who have been dependent on new technologies for what they do, or have adapted technology to existing fan activities.

Email me at shk at outtotheblack.com if you've got questions, but do indeed look for me at the SEBC table and most Browncoat events. And call me when there's a party afoot, gorram it!

Wickket was the Ewok in Return Of The Jedi who befriended Princess Leia, played by none other than our friend, Warwick Davis. I must say, I'm quite disappointed that he won't be there. He was running a close second behind our BDH in the "who do we want to meet" poll.

*sigh* Maybe next year.

Please add me to the list of D*C attendees. This will be my 8th year in a row at D*C. Can't wait! Hope I can find my spiffy Firefly/Serenity nametag that I got at the SEBC table and wear it with pride at D*C next week. I'll be a roving photographer (it's just what I do), so I hope to get many photos of the Shindig, and many Browncoats in attendance to share with the rest who couldn't make it. Gorramit, it's going to be a fun time!

DCTV=Dragon Con TeleVision.
Many hurmous spoofs of ads and shows. They showed "Mosquito" the Firefly parody. Which included reviewers quotes praiseing it, and a quote from Joss which was someting along the lines of "I'm going to sue somebody's ass off." Lots of fun ads including the officical D*C food pyramid, Alcohol, sugar, caffine.

No real caffeinated beer candy, but the idea goes along with the D*C food pyramid of caffeine, alcohol and candy. So, the joke is that someone invented caffeniated beer candy so you can get all your food groups at once. See? Silly.

Well, I make beer, so now I just need to add the other two. I actually think I could make a caffeineated beer with no problem, depending on the reactions to water and yeast. We can put lactose in it, which the yeast doesn't eat, for the sugar. Won't be ready in 6 days but I have a year to perfect it. Shiny :)

Also, is that food pyramid in order, or just a grouping of the major three intakes of necessary substances?

DragonCon TV is shown via closed circuit in all of the host hotels. In addition, whilst we were waiting for Q&A's last year, they showed a bunch of the "commercials" & Mosquito on a big screen in the ballroom. What a riot!

DCTV also shows movies and TV shows over the weekend. I do believe they showed every Firefly episode last year.

I second that notion. And it does seem right to me (I haven't told you so in any of the other threads but I really like your costumes, especially DPR).

I think that you guys have really inspired me. I will spend the next year perfecting a formula for caffenated, sugary beer (hell, if I can find a way to add protein, we might have some Mudder's Milk in the works) so that I can bring it to D*C and share it with everyone (I may have to charge a nominal fee, but it will be no more than the cost of the ingredients themselves).

From where I sit in the Eastern Time Zone, there are only 5 days until D*C (it's 12:45 am here, just got off work at second job).

Ok, Mark and I were discussing the whole "caffinated beer candy" concept, and we came up with....

(drum roll please....)

RUMMY BEARS!!!

(or Rummy Worms, or Gummy Booze, you choose...)

We figure make jello shots with extra gelatin, dissolve some caffeine tabs in it, use hi-test booze for the cold water part (just like a jello shot), and voila! I actually saw a recipe for gummy worms recently...have to dig that up again!

What'cha think?
