Well why not!

yesterday, I know it doesn't count but it is how I started.

Yesterday I decided it was a good day to quit smoking. I have tried a few times to no avail. So while I was getting all twitchy I decided to break out the mountain bike my Dad gave me about 5 years ago and see if it was still road worthy (and whether or not the old addage was true). Yup I still remembered how to ride. I chased my daughter around the yard for part of the day and then when the wife got home from work I took a couple of laps around the neighborhood. I think it is about 1.5 miles a lap so I might have gotten a grand total of 4 miles in yesterday. Counting the spawn chasing of course.

I really enjoyed it so I think I will continue to do it. Not to mention it took my mind off the other thing I started as well!

I think that when I get home tonight I will ride another two laps.

That's an excellent beginning!!! Keep it up!

EDIT: Well actually, that more than a begining. I started this thing when it began, and I don't think that I could do all that. Good show

I've done quite a bit of hiking to waterfalls, snorkeling, ocean swimming, and sun basking.

But the pinnacle of my "working out" while on holiday was the 12 mile hike across Haleakala Crater this past Saturday. Exhausting, but it felt great!

Was going to go scuba diving today, but the trip was cancelled. They had to do boat maintenance or something lame like that.

Back to basking.

P.S. Super excited about the new people

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Got in a 2.5 mile walk yesterday. Did an hour of cardio at the gym yesterday afternoon.

Going to the gym again this afternoon.

Only road 1.5 miles yesterday. Got a nasty sinus and chest could so I went light. Also had a few smokes. It is amazing how smoking stops one from coughing when they have a cold. Weird and Ironic. Something that should make you cough helps ya stop.

Starting to feel a little better today. Hopefully can do better today.

Got in a 2.5 mile walk at lunch yesterday.

Didn't manage to make the gym yesterday. The wife is out of town in Vegas this week and I had too many errands to run after work to find time for the gym. I did 100 crunch situps and 100 pushups at home though since I felt kind of guilty about missing the gym.

I will be there tonight though!

Got in a two mile walk and I am cleaning the whole house today so that will be a good workout, in my opinion.

Managed to hit the gym last night, but only for an hour. Did all cardio.

Got in a 2 mile walk at lunch today. A bit hot, but not too bad.

I'll be in the gym again tonight.

In honor of arriving back home less than 12 hours ago, I'm going out and drinking a bunch of beer tonight in a very non-fit club fashion. But tomorrow I'm moving most of my stuff from storage to my apartment, so that'll be a workout.

Nothing wrong w/ twelve ounce curls Sassalicious, so long as it's light beer.

Got in a 45 minute work out last night w/ the weights. Did a 2 mile walk when I got home, then did some push ups and sit ups.

Got 5 more days to squeeze in workouts before Dragon Con, so I am making the most of them.

Got in my bike ride today. 3 miles with a chest cold hurts! The smoking thing is coming along alright. Had a few the last couple of days. Mostly because they are there. (Damn Wifey!)

Hopefully I can go again tonight after work but presently it is raining.

Just got back from lunchtime yoga - oh ya, and I ran ~3 miles wednesday night. Trying again for that running thing, maybe I'll stick with it this time!

I get so bored when I run. it makes it hurt more because I think about what I am doing. No matter how hard I try I cannot get it out of my head.

That is why I figured I would try riding. Mainly because even if I cannot think about something else at least I am thinking oh sh*t I'm gonna fall or I am going way too fast or a bunch of other things.
Makes it exciting!

EDIT - Sigmanuki - Thanks for the words. I think that the hurt is more from the smoking and not exercising thing than the cold. That and I push till my legs burn to get a good work out. Just using the cold as a scape goat now anyways.(I think) I am feeling good enough to want to ride.

I agree that running isn't the healthiest... I wish I had a decent path for rollerblading, which is much easier on the joints and funner!

But... as it is, I must do what I can to get the heart and lungs shaping up for hockey season! mmm, hockey.
