KELKHIL

I just wanted to thank all the Vetrans who visit this site for their service to our Country and our Freedom. I found a Poem:

Ballad of a Soldier

I am a soldier. My name is freedom.
I walk in the valley of the shadow of death.
I fear no evil.
I stand for courage, compassion, dignity, and life.

My love is democracy.
I am the light in darkness.
I am the sword of the meek.
I do not hate.

My code is Justice.
I do not pale in the face of danger.
I will not turn a blind eye.
I do not tolerate transgression.

I am an Eagle.
I empower the weak.
I march boldly.
I cry quietly.
I sleep lightly.
I love unconditionally.

Call me in the night,
I will come.
Pray for me in the darkness,
I will bring the lamp.
Whisper my name,
and I will hear.

I am the blood of innocence.
I have not one face, but many.
I am a mother, a father, a son & a daughter.
I am no one and I am everyone.

I am a soldier and Freedom is my name.

TRAVELER

Hello Kelhil:

We have so many heros, there is not enough medals for them. But they keep showing up when we need them. Do the impossible for those who need. God bless them all.

Thank You Kelhil.

I had the opportunity for "Firsties" on this one. I didn't do it. I glad Traveler got here. The truth is even if I was first, I wouldn't be first. You guys are/were/will be. I am grateful everytime I see a uniform, or Vet's paperwork, or a call to duty form, or any other sign a person gives (t-shirts, caps, patches or war story) that they are or were attached to the Armed Services. You guys are number one. And I try to let you know whenever I get the chance. See, all of the rest of civilians are really "Private Ryan": you did it for us, let's not waste the gift.
Thank you one and all. And thank you, Traveler. You fly as straight and true as any I've met.

"Well, here I am...Does that seem right to you?"

Now I am learning about scary.

Kelkhil is right: you all deserve a very big "Thank you." I hope you know the debt of gratitude we owe you. If it helps at all, know that we don't forget you. You're in our thoughts and prayers every day as we go about our lives in freedom made possible because of your vigilance, sacrifice and bravery.

As a civilian, I guess all I can do for you is to promise to remember always. So I will do that, even if it doesn't seem like much.

Agreed. The reason we're all here is because of you and the sacrifices you've made, doing things that the rest of us couldn't or wouldn't.

Thank you all for serving.
