JUSTSHINY

Alrighty,

I am reporting from Flan B (as Mark Sheppard put it).

Firstly: Today I learned that the SoCal Coats (or one of the groups directly connected with the Backup Browncoat Bash) checked their PayPal account this morning and found over 45OO dollars in it. This is freaking amazing. To all the people who donated any kind of money I just want to thank you so much because you guys are basically the reason that we aren't all sitting in our rooms doing nothing. The Browncoats continue to amaze me on all these levels and I am so proud to be part of a group that is so supportive, and helpful. You guys really do kick ass. So thank you.

Also, I want to thank the BDH's that have already shown up despite BE's...how do you say... up...

Ok, on to the information that I'm sure ya'll will interested in knowing...

#1.) The rumor, basically, about the Firefly MMOG game...an online virtual game (kinda like, but hopefully better than WoW type of game) is going to be developed. A man named Cory Bridges (forgive me if the name is incorrectly spelled) spoke at the banquet hall that was rented today to inform us about it.

Here is the information in a nutshell:

-Everything is still very preliminary, but it is in the works.

You can read more about it on this webpage:

http://www.multiverse.net/

Please do because it's all very exciting and there are forums where you can post ideas and thoughts about particular aspects that you would like to see in the game.

Ok, #2:

Dark Horse Comics is working on more Serenity comics...well I should say Firefly comics since the time of the comics would take place before certain people got...well, skewered...

The comic will be called "Better Days" And I think that I remember him saying that Joss will be somewhat involved in the story lines...something along those lines.

Also in the Dark Horse catagory are the amazing little pretties that they continue to produce for us 'Coats. Some of ya'll may have been aware that there is a Serenity Ornament (of the ship which is currently $20 dollars) that can be purchased. Well in May 2007 a limited edition Reaver disguise Serenity ornament will be available. Jeremy (again, sorry for incorrect name spellings...) informed me that they are going to be $20 dollars as well. So mark your calendars.

Finally, Dark Horse is working on a PVC set of the characters. First up: Jayne, River, and Mal. These are going to be available in May 2007 as well...but I didn't hear a price.

Here is a pic of them and the limited edition Reaver Disguise Serenity ornament...sorry it's a mite...huge...

More information can be found at their site:

As for #3:

A group known as "The Big Damn Chefs" have put together a cook book of recipes given from fans (I'm pretty sure) as well as some people involved in Firefly...like Jewel Staite and Greg Edmonson...I do believe that the representative of this cookbook said that they are working on collecting a few more.

The cookbook is supposed to be available for purchase before the Christmas season is over. Also, a little bonus, all the the procedes go to a charity that provides food for women and children about the world so that they can continue to raise healthy families.

You can find more information on their webpage too:

http://bigdamnchefs.com/

Almost finished here, sorry for the long post, but it's information that I'd totally want to know about...

Ok, what number are we on *scrolls up a bit* Right, #4:

Done the Impossible is here as well. They are the people who put together the fan movie documentary about the fans of SereniFly, it also includes interviews with many of our BDH's.

They showed us how to reach one of the Easter Eggs...I'm going to post how to get it because it inspired me to buy it and I'm hoping that it will inspire others as well.

Bonus Features->DvD Credits->Push Up->Click the little Nintendo controller in the bottom left corner->Click the Hint if you want->But the Hint is Contra..so you poke that into the little controller (it is a sequence)...and then you get this hilarious menagerie of inter cut interviews with Fans, our BDH's, and I'm sure some more people that I can't think of.

Here is the link in order to purchase it through Amazon.com:

JDG/sr=1-1/qid=1165714326/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-5030079-6506838?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

I have yet to watch it yet...a little short on time...specially since this post

Anyway, what was shown of it makes it look very interesting, and a purchase would support other fellow Browncoats...

...and if guilt doesn't work..let's try bandwagon:

Over 7,000 copies sold probably worldwide!!! Buy your copy of Done the Impossible today!

#5 I believe: *doesn't want to scroll back up*

Number five is information about a "Browncoat Cruise" that has been in the works since last year...and not really publicized so much...

Basically, it's a step towards continuing all our fun with conventions...'cept this one will be trusted to other fellow 'Coats who won't screw us out of our money. *smirk*

So it's supposedly going to be affordable, obviously very fun, and well have, and I quote, "transparent finances."

This, like the first item, is all very preliminary.

But, you can watch their website for more information.

http://www.browncoatcruise.com/

We were informed that much more info will be posted over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

Ok, this concludes my giant post that I though ya'll should know about...I really, really love you guys! Stay shiny and I hope something new was gleaned, and that maybe this post brought a smile to your face.

Thanks, JustShiny,
Great to hear about the neat things that are coming. By the way, you said you didn't know the price of the figures of Mal, Jayne, and River; but your picture was so clear that it shows they will be $17.99 on May 16, 2007.

JOSSIZBOSS

I'm so happy to hear that the backup bash (aka Flan B) has been such a success. I'm so happy for you, mei mei! I've been thinking about you and worrying about you getting screwed by what appears to be such unscrupulous people for the past week.

I've been following all the developments about the surprise guests over on Whedonesque and it's all brought tears to my eyes. Although I never expected less from this fandom or the cast and crew of Firefly

Well, hope the rest of the weekend holds as many surprises as there have been thus far. Have a great time! You're a part of something really special! You're one of the "Flan 500"! You'll have to tell me all the details when you get back home. (Did you get to meet Nathan Fillion??)

Take care mei mei!

- JIBBY

PAINISSCARY

Just a detail or two more about the comics:

Not due out till Sept. 2007. Three issues, called "Better Days," set in the pre-Serenity Firefly universe, so all the characters are still alive : )

According to the Dark Horse guy, one or some villains from the show may make an appearance.

Comics are being written by Brett Matthews, under Joss's guidance.

"Hamsters is nice."
