(This gets around to relating to Firefly eventually, really.)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looks as though on all these forums for all time, the Arrogant Worms have been mentioned only four times, and always more or less in passing.

And no one has followed up to ask, So, who are these Arrogant Worms?

Come on, now. How do you expect to learn anything if you don't ask questions? Go ahead, ask. I'll wait.

(I'm still waiting)

(Still waiting)

(The heck with it, I'm telling you anyway.)

They're a band. A Canadian band. A funny Canadian band. A very funny Canadian band.

They're funny on CD. They're funnier on stage.

There are only three guys in the band; one plays guitar, one plays bass, and one plays pennywhistle, but only in one song, which is one too many. Which makes it kind of odd to contemplate orchestral arrangements of their songs, but oddness never stopped Canadians, I guess, because in 2003 the Worms did a TV special with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. It was made into a CD, which we have, and a DVD, which we don't, but we may need to get it, because I just found out the cast list for the show was:

Mike McCormick as Himself (band member)
Chris Patterson as Himself (band member)
Trevor Strong as Himself (band member)
David Hoyt as Conductor

and

Nathan Fillion as Himself

You ever heard of Nathan Fillion? I didn't think so. I have no idea how much of the show he's in; it could be a five second cameo for all I know, but he's credited so one would think it's more substantial than that. And he's the only one credited besides the band and conductor.

The Worms' web site is (wait for it...) http://www.arrogant-worms.com/ -- I know, I know, you're shocked.

I think a lot of the songs' lyrics lose most of their impact when written down, because many of them depend so much on the way the music parodies various songs and song styles, but perhaps this one

might give you a bit of the flavor of the Worms. Um, sorry about that choice of words, there.

There are probably MP3s of them out there somewhere, too. Worth a look.

Um, dear...
Trevor actually plays several instruments, all smaller than his head. Pickle-o comes to mind, and kazoo. He did a wild harmonica..rendition.. and

OK he does NOT play many small instruments, but he's game to try.

I figured the less said about Trevor's instrumental stylings, the better.
