You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Finally have need of a new thread for pictures of Browncoat pets!

Sorry, I have none of my late kitty, but here's the closest I could find online:

She had a light brown spot on her nose, though. Her name was Snowball (what? I got her when I was seven.) and she was small and feisty.

No one posting? Fine then, let's see what I have...

Um, I have the little alligator that lives in my bamboo. I have many things of this type, so I can just keep on posting them

OK. I'll use my non-existent new guy privileges and do some posting.

These are my two Sonny and Fredo, (named after the characters in the Godfather for some arcane reason). Fredo has an unhealthy obsession with the kitchen sink......weirdo.

Alrighty-then... here's the technologically savvy cat (which is not under my name, but roams around where I live - including my room):

And, my fat (sharp-clawed) cat:

Yeah Fredo's fun but he has issues. He suddenly decided one day that the water bowl wasn't good enough for him, so now he drinks direct from the tap. He thinks he's better than other cats. They have a problem with his attitude. They think he's... what’s the word?

Jayne(OS): Pretentious.

Exactly. Thanks Jayne.

YinYang. That's a dangerous look for a sharp clawed cat. It says, 'Open this door now or you wake up tomorrow missing a leg.'

This is a picture of my baby-girl, Shylo. She passed away last October at the age of 12.

And since everyone's showing their kitties, this is Max...He is our emormous 20 pound throw pillow.

And since Max was so accustomed to having Shylo around, he got very very depressed. As did my wife and I, so with the help of our local vet, we found a new baby to adopt! Her name is Chata (pronounced Shah-Dah)...

That is one adorable lizard! Very cute indeed! I believe that she is a green anole (Anolis carolinensis), the only anole native to the U.S. (I assume you're in America - tell me if I'm wrong!). She looks to be about the right size (9" snout-vent length). They change colour you know (this brown colour is a sign of stress - probably a bit scared of being inside!) and the males have fantastically coloured dewlaps (the flap of flesh they can extend under their throats)

I'm going to exit teacher mode now!

sorry for the late reply - but since you asked - what kind? not really sure - maybe some kind of skink - pretty common here in the hill country of texas - and yep, they are pretty curious guys and if they don't feel threatened they'll come close...

A very fine teacher you must be... you are right on with the description and I believe you have nailed it. A funny thing about the color change you mentioned, I have watched them change before my eyes - usually from a brownish gray like you said, to light green and than a darker, brighter green.

I have always enjoyed observing reptiles in their native state and from your knowledge, it seems you do as well. Thanks

You're welcome! I always love a chance to pontificate about reptiles. I'm a zoologist by training, specialising in reptiles. Sadly we people in the UK only have 6 native species of reptile and they are pretty scarce so most people have never seen a snake or lizard in the wild!

This probably prompted my choice of pet. Here's my baby (slightly bigger than an anole at nearly 5 foot long!)

whoa....good pet !
He's amazing.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about herpetology to pontificate, but I think it’s safe to say that there a few more than six native species of reptile in the Americas, with over 200 in Texas alone.

Here are some pics of the common Horned Lizard or Desert Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma platyrhinos) – one of my favorites. (These are stock photos since I didn’t have any of my own to upload)

At one time these were plentiful, but have really been on the decline. I rarely see them in this part of the state.

edit: ooops...how'd he get in there???

Great pet pics ;) Love Captain Jack, I'm working on getting a GSD myself, ours died and we miss her.

This is Levi Strauss, the cat who thinks he's a dog and one of my best models.

Roxy the nuerotic princess of all

And in a non-professional snapshot: Nikki and Halpert one of the kittens I fostered a few months back. Nikki loves kitties (her and levi are best friends) and she grew very fond of Halpert. Halpert loved her back too, he followed her everywhere.
