I know I haven't been on these boards long, but you all have been so nice and helpful to me in more ways than anyone here could really know. Where I live, I have no friends, and then only family I have is my wife and daughter. So the internet is my only real release on most things.

With all that being said, I asked my wife for a divorce today. I thought about waiting until after the holidays, but that would just prolong the inevitible. There's no one near me to share this with, so I just thought maybe getting it out here would help me a bit. Sorry if my story is a bit of a downer.

Suffice to say that I have been unhappy for a long, long time. For 8 years I stayed in what was for me a loveless marriage to prevent hurting my daughter and my wife. I have taken full responsibility for my actions, and realize that I will ultimately be labled "the bad guy".

While my wife has accepted my request, and has said she will keep it amicible, she's a file clerk at the largest law firm in Nevada, and I am sure they will take up her case. That being said, I am prepared to be steamrolled financially and emotionally. And I guess I deserve it.

So if you don't hear from me for awhile, now you guys know. Thanks for letting me vent.

-Steg

Bit of an update...

Looks like I found an apartment, will probably move in this weekend if my application clears.

As I had hoped, we are keeping it very civil and there's been no death-threats on my life by her friends thus far.

But...one thing I'm losing out of the deal:

Wins and losses... ahh I remember them well.

Not much you could say under those circumstances.

Some of the things I lost in my divorce years ago returned home to me later in life though, so you never know....

My wife deemed those to be the least pretty and most menacing of the lot.

I tried to get her to take the Dragon-Head katana with with the cast resin handle, but the blade is too buffed to well, so she wasn't having it...lol

I'm really sorry she's keeping some of your treasures, but it is good to keep things friendly and maybe she'll reconsider at some point.

I honor you for keeping it calm... it is so easy to have these things escalate w/the anger and bitterness, but that only leads to more anger and bitterness. For you daughter's sake it is good to keep it as friendly as possible.

You know you always have the friendship of all the Browncoats, and I hope the move goes smoothly!

Adjusted for inflation, my old man paid nearly half a million dollars "child support" for his kids. (Over half a million, if you include legal fees)

I hope for your sake you don't live in Illinois.... father's are automatically the bad guy there and have zero rights unless they pay the lawyers more money than they give the mothers to pay their lawyers.

Just ask everybody here how messed up I am. I was raised by my mom.

That wasn't due to my dad's lack of trying though....

If all you've lost so far is a few knives, you're well ahead of the curve already. And that 8 years you stuck around is going to shorten your sentence considerably.

I wish you all the luck in the world, my man. More importantly, I hope you can maintain a great relationship with your Daughter. She needs ya now more than ever.

Ummmmm.... so they are PR. Remember that little convo we had about my complete lack of observancy a few weeks back?

Heh.....

Well, I do suppose that makes it a much greater loss then. My condolences Steg....

Hey folks!

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and support! I just can't tell you guys how great you've all been!

I'm thinking I've said it already, but I just have to say that my wife is just being incredibly understanding and helpful in all of this. I have been met with several incredulous looks at work when I describe how she is handling all of this. And we are really going to try to keep our friendship alive as long as possible.

As of today, I have found and will be moving into my mew apartment in Carson City. That means I'll only be able to read up on the posts and email from work for a little bit...(unless I break down and get dial-up for the next week or so...bleh)

Interestingly, I've live such an introverted life that I have maybe 2 or 3 friends around this area. That being said, all of them are busy this weekend, so my wife has offered to help me move into the new apt. How cool is that? (And no, there is no alterior motive here. She genuinely wants to help.)

In regards to the sword, while I will miss my little piece of Serenity, I know it will help my wife feel more safe and secure. That being said, it's a very small price to pay.

As a side note (not sure if I mentioned it before), my wife works for the largest lawfirm in the state of Nevada. Heh, if she really wanted to financially rape me, I have no defense against the resources at her disposal. As it stands, because of her ability to work amicably with me, one of the remaining founding partners for the firm is handling all of the paperwork pro bono (that means free, for those who don't know) and all we will have to pay is the filing costs at the courts.

Anywho, I know this is a bit long-winded, I just wanted evenyone to know my appreciation, and to clear any concerns as to my wife and her possible motives. She's a good woman, and a damn good wife, we just fell out of love.

Thanks for being here!! /group hug!

Well, spent my first night all by my little bitty lonesome for the first time in like 20 years. To say it was weird just doesn't do it justice. Of course, not having an internet connection just sucks something horrible, and the A/C doesn't work in the place, so it made for an interesting evening.

I've been packing and unpacking so much the last couple days, I'm starting to feel that if I see another box, I'm going to scream, but other than that, good times.

Anywho, I've found I can survive on my own. So far anyways...lol

Hope eveyone is having a great weekend!
