We sniff the air, we don't kiss the dirt.

With the excitement of the NEW Doctor being picked, I forgot to ask fellow Browncoats across the pond how the Christmas show was.

So?

I enjoyed it.

My friend and I picked our favourite line too:

"Are your legs on silent?"

From when the cybermen sneak up behind the Doctor

According to other friends it amused us more than anyone else.

Also, I had originally thought that that woman dressed in red might be the one with the red nails who picks something up after that episode with the master and the end of the universe, it would have cleared up some questions.

Alas, I was wrong, but she is still an awesomely weird Doctor Who character!

I thought the

was a bit obvious but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Has everyone heard the news about the 11th Doctor?

*goes off to find (or maybe start?) the Thread of Squee over that one*

Certainly an appropriate place for news about a time traveller. . .

Thought it was a fun special this year. Was hoping that we would get a bit of a tease for the next special in April.

I really enjoyed it although I had kinda decided in my mind (despite earlier theories)

that he wasn't a real Timelord and that some eplanation would be forthcoming.

My fave bits are in spoilers to save blocking each section.

The scenes where there was some connection to the world we know and then we had the real Doctors reaction. For example when he asked for his sonic screwdriver and then they both face the Cyber-furball and shout 'Allons-y'.
Or when sonic screwdiver is revealed to be just a screwdriver (useful for getting through doors which was the point of it in the first place) and it was sonic because it made a noise when you tapped it.
I especially liked the revelation of the TARDIS and the brilliant explanation of what the letters stood for.
I also thought it was a nice touch to show all the previous Doctors. Forms a nice link to the earlier seasons.

I also think David Morrisey played his role brilliantly, given equal weight to the emotional and madcap sides.

Looking forward to the next one.

By the way, if you liked David Morrisey or even Doctor Who in general, try to track down a copy of State of Play. It's a mini-series starring Morrisey, John Simm, Bill Nighy among others and it's a cracking watch plus it's on track to be ruined as a blockbuster movie later this year.

It was great to see the Cybermen again. Miss Hartigan made a great villain. The end seemed over-the-top, but I like that the Doctor made her see what she'd done and become. Rosita didn't get enough to do.. And the best bit was seeing the faces of all nine of the previous Doctors, especially Hartnell.

It hasn't aired yet here in Australia, I just watched it on YouTube, but I think it'll look great on TV.
