So,how do you like castle so far and do you feel
like this show will be a keeper or not?

I watch it, I like it, but I'm not sure there's enough there to get it picked up again. I really like Nathan's portrayal, and his chemistry with the female detective has really started to click. I thought he was clearly outshining everybody else in the first couple episodes, but now they're actually starting to gel into a cohesive unit. I find the character of his daughter to be not too annoying (unlike Medium, for instance), and his mom to be not too much of a caricature (note that I said not TOO much of one; she definitely is the most overdone and cartoonish character on the show, but it's a bit endearing, at least for now).

It's not my FAVORITE thing on the air right now (that would be Chuck, Supernatural, or Breaking Bad at the moment), but I make time to watch it every week, and will continue to do so as long as they keep it on - which I'm sure won't be much longer. Any show I like from the outset seems doomed to cancellation...

It's competitive, for the genre, but not great.

I really enjoy it. I think it's nice to see Nathan being funny and whimsical:0

It's fun, entertaining, and I hope it continues for a long, long time.

Everyone (several) that I've introduced it to not only said they liked it, they made it one of their regular shows.

I like it for Nathan, but really the genre is not my thing. Oh hey an unexpected twist! To me twists and turns are more interesting when you know the characters and they mean something. When it's a twist about a character who appears in one episode and is only a twist because we just didn't know anything about them...blah not interesting. I'd like them to flesh out some of the other detectives. Right now I don't know anyone's name other than Nathan's character. I can't for the life of me think of the woman detective's name. Same problem I had with Dollhouse until some of the more recent episodes.

I actually enjoy the two cops that are always doing the grunt work, and I wish I knew their names.

And I don't know the daughter's name either, but I like how she's written.

The Detective's name is Beckett. Do we know a first name?

I LOVE Castle! Nathan's character is hilarious, and the dialogue between him and Beckett is pure gold! I'm really enjoying the contrast in his character. He isn't simply the charming smart-ass. He has layers. He cares for his daughter and her well-being, and is a responsible person, despite his attempts to appear otherwise (evident in his concerns regarding letting his mother run loose in the apartment).

It also probably helps that this is just my kind of TV show. I love the whole CSI Law and Order scene, (I'm pretty morbid when it comes to my curret TV selections) and this just fits in so nicely with them all!

All in all, I love the show, and think that there is great potential for another series after this one is finished, there will just have to be some slight plot tweaking, plus, he can research her for as long as he likes.

I know the show is querky,if that is a word,(it is now)but it's supposed to be ! nathan is def. HILARIOUS ! I'm a big C.S.I. fan and i like how this story is somewhat diferent as it doesn't have to show all the details of how the guy died but right to the point..."Who Done It" !

Glad to Know i ain't the only one who finds fillion fascinating !

Course to be honest, i prob wouldn't watch the show if nathan wasn't on it :)

p.s. does anyone have a link to some of the quotes use by nathan on "castle"?

Thanks!

I tell you what I'm looking forward to. I'm looking forward to the moment someone tries to nickname Beckett "Nikki Heat."

That is SO BAD! XD You just know he came up with that to annoy her.

I know! It really does sound like a stripper's name!!

Btw, Beckett's right hand men are Javier Esposito && Kevin Ryan.
Roy Montgomery is the boss.
Martha Rodgers is the name of the mother.
&& the forensic scientist is Lanie Parish.
(I just had to look them up - it was bugging me!!)

The show started as one trick but it's slowly simmering and layers are appearing. The reveal this week about her family didn't stun me but it made her more sympathetic and human.

What can I say about Rick Castle? A man that likes to play with his toys but does care a lot about his daughter and is much more than an observer of police business. He's smart and I think really likes police work, he certainly knows a lot about it.

Nathan Fillion was made for this role and it's becuase of him that I started to watch Castle but now I'm getting caught up in the story and I'm going to stay a loyal watcher.

Hey, I even switched back and forth to Castle when it was apparent that my beloved UNC Tarheels were leading by 20 at the half in the NCAA finals last night.

I really love the relationship that Castle has with his daughter.
I'd say it reminded me of the bond between River & Simon, except that both of these characters are capable of coherent conversation.

STOWEAWAY

I am loving CASTLE. It's so good to see Nathan Fillion back on TV again.
But there was something that seemed "off" about the show since the beginning. And I just recently figured out what it is.
I'm so used to seeing Nathan in something smart, layered, perhaps a little indie. It feels strange to watch him on such a mainstream & formulaic show. It's not a bad show, just not what I would normally watch.
But since Nathan's in it, I can't NOT watch.

Well, there is that...

And Nathan does have moments of pure gold.

This week's episode, when Beckett shows up at his door, and Castle does the whole, "Where are my manners?" thing, the puts the gun in his mouth, just cracked me up. I had to rewind and watch it again, just to see him being so goofy!

It's definitely growing on me. From something I'll watch, to something I actually look forward to.

SINGATE

There is another thing I like about the show that I recently pointed out to a co-worker. None of the police officers look down on Castle. Sure Beckett gets a bit aggravated with him but there is none of the typical "leave the detective work to the professionals" bullshit. Everyone actually respects his opinions.

There were a couple of moments that were just great this week. The whole laser tag incident followed by Beckett's batcave analogy was perfect. The second moment looked to be all serious until Castle diffused it. When she asks if he will use the new found information about her life as backstory for Nikki Heat... "still leaning towards hooker by day, cop by night". Does it get any better than that?
