Alliance tears up people/sharing characters

the first thing i have here is that we must remember that the Alliance has two faces.- the large miliary side and the cold bearutic lets-cut-up-girl's-brains side. Now i figure that if the Alliance was doing things to River and they messed with the entire population of Miranda they would have done it plenty of other times to. trying to make better soldiers experimenting with mental powers on ordinary people etc. And like the Reavers someimes these things go wrong.
Also i believe that in order t make our fanfic's more interesting we should share characters between stories (with permission of course). I fanyone want to use my character Dorm Harkaway from The Temptress and the Hunter then post me a comment and i'll get back to you. He needs a filled out backstory and i'm already working on something else.

We actually don't know that these are two different sides. The military is very much involved in research after all. But, there certainly is a bureaucratic side. Just not even near convinced that it is the "lets-cut-up-girl's-brains side".

How do you come to this conclusion? There's a first time for everything. And it'd be pretty hard to hide all those worlds.

Firstly, i think what stormwind was saying is that the alliance have probably tried some level of experimentation before, no doubt on segments of society that wouldn't be missed: drug addicts, criminals, people from border planets, slaves etc. I think its fairly certain that miranda was a once-off, but they've probably injected things into people to see what makes them tick.

As for the Alliance themselves, im fairly convinced that they are not simply the cold, functional machine that is depicted within firefly and serentiy, as i believe Whedon has stated, as (for me) its fairly 1 dimentional if the Alliance is just some 'evil empire' with the brain chopping and the genocide and all the rest of it. If you've ever seen a civil war movie or read a book, you'd know that while the federals themselves were largely benovolent in there objectives, some individual yankees are depicted as raping, murdering bastards out for there own; or simply as a fighting force keeping the peace they are seen as a dominating, controlling force on the border (as say with any 'liberating' army). In short, the Alliance are a society; as complex and multidimentional as any other; so to assert that they have only 2 sides: the army and the scientists; is wrong. Remember, though firefly and serenity we have seen very little of the core, beyond the experiences of the protagonists.

Any sharing of characters (apart from canon character of course) should definately be done, but with obvious respect to the characters creater and the character themself.
