firefly/serenity text adventure, but i need a little help

ok, i know a text adventure ain't the greatest thing, but it is a thing, as apposed to the not much we have

right first the help i need:

i don't know where mr. universe's complex or the heart of gold are.

ok hears the better stuff:

this is a map i made in excel, the gray squares are open space(may have derelict ships), brown squares are dead/gas planets(that you can't go on, Miranda will be explorable), dark green are regular planets, light green are moons(the highlighted square is niska's skyplex) and the black are unexplorable space



the idea(if it all works) is to play along with the story, to a degree, stuff will be changed, but if it doesn't need it, it won't be changed

but i addition to the story job's there will be side quests and well, loads to explore

i'll post a download link when it's playable, right now you can walk about on serenity, but the crew don't say anything, but you could shoot em all(why would you want to though?)

edit: slight update; i've tested my theory on the "space travel" and the ship, and it works, it's a little blocky, but playable

the ship was a prolem as its a moving location, which there isn't an option for with the program i'm using

so space travel is exactly as planet side travel, but you can ask wash to fly to any planet or moon(excluding miranda) and you "enter" serenity from any landing area(which are marked), but if you want to leave the ship you'd go back to the last planet you asked wash to land on(like i said, blocky)

I'll assume that your vision is different than the other projects that have been announced.

For clarity for those that are considering helping your project, I have some questions:

What do you mean, text adventure? Something like Hack?

What engine are you using? Are you building your own?

Your last comment seems to indicate that while you are flying to a new planet/moon, if you leave the ship, you'll walk out on the planet that you just left. Is this a bug or a side effect of what engine you are using?

What platforms will it be availible for?

Would you be able to post what you have so far so people can try it out and see what you're going for?

i always forget the crucial info so

i'm using a program called ADRIFT text adventure generator, so it'll run on any PC that runs the ADRIFT runner

and as for space flight, it's more a side effect, cos' the program doesn't let you create a "moving" location, so i had to be creative, really creative, it sort of works like this:

if you type fly to X, the game will move the serenity character to the landing area of X planet

but the other ways works by simply walking out of the landing area into space.

odd i know, but i can't think of another way, if i could get away with removing the second way i would(it's 80% of the work of the locations), but it's sort of needed for the events of serenity(pilot)and bushwhacked(possibly others that ain't coming to mind at 3:40AM)

my vision is: a firefly styled time wasting thing

but with the main quest/job line and the side jobs, it's gonna be a sort of elder scrolls game, but all text

as for uploading, i'll be adding the first "job" later, it being the first we see where they steal the food from the derelict ship(but it'll work more like the events of bushwhacked, going in the ship and finding the stuff, not getting suited up)

here's the start up text(which will be changed before the final version)

You are Captian Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, your firefly class mid-bulk transport: Serenity has just docked on Persephone, in the Eavesdown docks, where you are to meet you contact badger, who has a job for you



edit: here's a download link the the excel map file(only 20kb) it gives an idea of the size of the verse

each square will be a "room" which is what ADRIFT calls, well rooms, and each planet and each moon will have a landing area, plus any other places that are needed, and some gray squares will have derelcit ships for you to explore/loot

ok, i've decided to remove the "space" travel, so now it's just tell wash where to go

i know i said i'd have a slightly playable version, but i've been a lot busier today than i thought(although my tasks were releted to my skills, useually when my mother asks me to do something it involves moving stuff, ok you don't care about that)

so, badger's job stealing the stuff from the derelict: tomorrow(or later today, it is 3am)

I'm suuuuch a geek, but I love text based adventures. I'm not much of a technical person, but if you need help with dialogue, or writing some descriptions, or something, I'm your woman.
