My dance troupe and I have been asked to dance at the Firefly airsoft live action role-play event called Freefall (freefallgame.com). We would like to be as authentic to the series as possible, however very few of us, between rehearsals and jobs, have time to re-watch the series. Does anyone remember episodes that had middle eastern or oriental style dancers/themes? This would help us out a lot. Thanks!

In Safe, episode 5, River dances with some folk who have this pretty Irishesque music, you could watch how she, and they, dance in that scene, they're supposed to be rim folk who live on a fairly remote moon called Jangjin (spelling?).

We see fancy rich people dancing in Shindig, episode 4, we see a tiny bit of country/frontier like dancing in Our Mrs. Reynolds at the beginning. I can't think of any others.

My suggestion would be to let YouTube be your friend. If you haven't got time to watch whole episodes just look up the clips. I'm certain River's (truly beautiful) dance will be found there. You may find the belly dancer as well and the only other possible dance I can think of is at the ball when Inara dances with Mal and Kaylee wears the pink dress.

There might be some in Jaynestown, but youtube is a good bet. Also, Serenity, near the end, and in the middle, the two River combat scenes. Summer was a dancer, so her fighting is very dance-heavy.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

You don't really see much of it but there's also that asian woman dancing with the fans at the Maidenhead in Serenity (movie).

I think it might work better if you just check out some oriental dancing and make it more Firefly-ish, the most learnable dance in their would be River's jig in Safe and that's not oriental at all.

Totally rockin' that you get to do this though, congrats and good luck!

Thanks everyone! I remember the dance with the fans, but the dancer in Train Job was exactly what I needed to see. We dance a similar style as her so it won't take much to adapt our dances. The others will be helpful as well for how we need to interact with the crowds and ideas for costuming. If we manage to get a video of the roleplay and parts of the performance I can try to get them posted for everyone to enjoy.
