This is very compelling. Propaganda, but compelling. A good lesson on how to spin information. There are pictures of the Pentagon immediately after the impact showing the compressor disks from the 757's engines laying on the lawn and stacked up against construction equipment. The hole showed in the "mockumentary" is actually one of two punched through the C ring and they were made by the main landing gear as they carried on after the impact. There are several photos showing shredded bits of aluminum in United Airline's livery on the Pentagon lawn. Oh, and this section that was being refurbished was actually being strengthened to withstand bombs. The intact windows are actually bombproof. The lack of damage to the Pentagon is due to the reinforcing that was done. And the 5,300 gallons of fuel? Hello! Fire anybody? Which also take into account the bulk of the aircraft. Aluminum melts at pretty low temperatures. Temperatures a kerosene fire could easily reach. Finally, the ground layer effect accounts for the amazingly low flight level. It is a reflection of air from the leading edge of a plane's wing that bounces off the ground and "stacks up" under the plane's wing. It can keep low wing planes, like the 757, suspended above the ground. Pilots have to be trained on how to avoid it when landing. If the hijackers weren't good pilots it actually lends credence to them being in control of the plane.

If you want to look into a conspiracy behind the events of 9/11 look at Flight 93. It's a more likely subject for misinformation and government subterfuge than the Pentagon.

There is a great site on the web for checking out urban legends and rumors. It's called snopes.com. Here is what they have to say about these Flight 77 rumors:

And those guys in the black helicopters that are pulling down the web sites had better get busy. I did a Google search on "Flight 77" and it came back with about 101,000 hits. Most of them from conspiracy sites.

Muldering. Now THAT'S an adjective worth remembering!

According to an aeronautics engineer's website, the closest type of crash to Pentagon was Israel's El Al Flight 1862, which crashed into a concrete ten-story apartment complex in Belgium in 1992. The few photos available showed what appeared to be a realtively small hole in the structure with very little visible airplane debris.

HOWEVER, the engineer also noticed that those El Al photos were few and far between, and looking further he found that days worth of investigators and news video and audiotapes were destroyed, and that the inet had been scrubbed clean. So he dropped the 9-11 angle, and pursued that one, noting that many people in the neighborhood subsequently complained of health problems. And ultimately, what he found was a true conspiracy-

The El Al flight bound for Tel Aviv was carrying three of four of the ingredients needed to make SARIN. The Dutch government's coverup was so immediate and so complete they even allowed Queen Beatrix to tour the crash site the following day, exposing her to toxic chemicals. Eight years after the crash, the Dutch government (when confronted with a leaked copy of the manifest) 'fessed up.

What I learned:

Israel was making WMD.
Conspiracies do exist.

BTW_ I looked high and low for those photos of the apartment complex so you could see how similar they look to the Pentagon photos. If you can find them "you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."
