Yep, that's her. That's my girl. My Representative in the United States Congress, Cynthia McKinney. Cynthia, while spitting on the grave of Martin Luther King Jr's peaceful movement to raise up minorities while fostering true co-existance, decided to act like a 5 yr old throwing a temper tantrum when asked by an adult to do the right thing.

Even my very liberal hometown paper, the Atlanta Journal/Constitution slapped Cynthia on the wrists with it's editorial position. Basically it said that McKinney should have simply stopped, looked the capital police right in the eye , smiled and introduced herself as Congress woman Cynthia McKinney, from the great state of Georgia. But no. She had to cry wolf once again, claim it was racism and sexism while dragging the NAACP and NOW into the issue.

She divides the races even more, and she doesn't care. It's all for her own political aggrandizement. I think she actually enjoys creating strife and angst, instead of acting like a sensible, reasonable and respected member of the US House.

She's a complete disgrace, and I hope she is tossed out on her ass.

About a week ago , Ms McKinney , Georgia's 4th District Congress woman to the US House of Representitives, was walking into the the Captiol building in Washington D.C. She walked around the metal detector station and strode right past the guards. She wasn't wearing her Congressional ID pin, and when the guard asked her to stop, she just kept on walking. He asked her two more times, and she ignored him. Finally, the guard put his hand out to stop her, she turned around and struck him in the chest. Hitting a Capitol Building police officer is a felony. At first she acknowledged the incident, and simply said she regretted that it happened. After a postponed press conference last week, and a hastily arranged show of support from the likes of Danny Glover and Harry Belefonte, Ms McKinney blasted back that SHE was the victim, and that the police officer sworn to protect her and everyone else in the Capitol building, was out of line. She's crying racism, crying sexism.... crying wolf. And I find it pointless, disgusting and disgraceful.

If that's what happened (and I see no reason to assume that it's not) then she's acting like a child trying to cover butt. But that's not too unusual for people in power who assume people "just know" who they are. Hey, maybe she was having a really bad day or something, we're all human and we slip up - but she should've stuck with her first reaction. Own up, apologize, maybe invite the guy for dinner or something to make up, and be mature about it. Re-election is going to be a tough bid now.

I've had the disfortune to see U.S. congressmen in person, and a lot of them think the world revolves around them. So, I understand how some of them react when they aren't immediately recognized and bowed to.

Her reaction towards the capitol officer who stopped her was certainly overblown, and I agree she should've apologized. Unfortunately, her ego wouldn't allow her to do that, and she's only made it worse by her ridiculous and totally unfounded accusations.

And apparently, this isn't the first time this woman has roughed up an officer of the law. She seems to have a history of this.

Why people keep re-electing people like this is beyond me.

My dad was a Metropolitan policeman in DC in the late 50's/early 60's, and I learned at a very young age that when a policeman tells you to "stop", you STOP. You certainly, under no circumstances, ever push, shove, swipe at or punch a police office.

She's lucky she didn't wind up in the clinker -- which is what I would've done, had I been the officer. I'm sure if there were surveillance cameras there (and there should be at such checkpoints), it will show exactly what happened.

I have been following this case w/ some interest. I must admit this particular elected "official" is a disgrace and dishonors an already corrupt and disfunctional legaslative body.

The "support" she is getting from Glover & Belafonte is a joke. Obviously this is just Hollywood types trying to mix it up in politics which obviously doesn't work out well. I am sure they only got her side of the story & did not bother to look at facts. All they want to see is a black woman being attacked by a white police officer. Guess they "overlooked" the fact she had no visible i.d., the officer did not know her on site, she went around the metal detectors, and ignored repeated requests to stop. Top it off with the fact she assaults a police officer.

Now think about this a moment. If anyone here, anyone did what she had done, there is no doubt that we would have been apprehended forcibly & if we had struck the officer we would have been taken down hard, cuffed and arrested & drug off to jail.

Too many use the "racisim" card to cover their own wrong actions or racisim and politically correct society makes people too afraid to stand up them for fear of persecution by the vocal minority.

All I can say is I hope that this woman is censured, fined, publically apologizes to the officer for her actions, to the public for wasting our tax dollars, and is made to serve community service.

Of course this is not the first time McKinney has been in trouble.

She's accused of committing a serious crime and an even more serious social gaff. Her response is to hide behind her race and gender. In other words she is acting like a typical liberal Democratic leader who happens to be a minority. Its never about what they did or did not do...its always the color of their skin or whether their reproductive organs are internal or not.

Lets compare this to Delay. Accused of a crime, yes he attacked the political motivations of his accuser, rightfully as it turned out, but he never once claimed that he was being singled out as a white male. Even minority republicans rarely bring out the race card and even then it has to be an open and obvious circumstance, like the race baiting in the Maryland campaigns or the racist attacks on Condi Rice.

Liberals, particularly liberal minorities lack the ability to account for personal responsibility. I think its partly a sense of entitlment and partly a fear of showing weakness.

That's just f***in lame.

I don't even see how sexism could ever ever ever be remotely applied to this situation. Women are less likely to be stopped because we're rarely perceived as threatening.

And whose first instinct is to hit a cop? I've watched people get taken down and charged with felony assault for hitting a police horse with a stick!

From her own mouth: the police are supposed to protect her and everyone in the building which is why HE STOPPED SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T GO THROUGH THE SECURITY CHECKPOINT!

And how is this different from our Republican administration's "accountability for everyone - except for us and our friends" behavior.

Not that I'm defending McKinney in any way. From the sound of this story, she deserves any trouble she gets into over this.

Yeah, that's it. Liberals are the ones who have a hard time with integrity and personal responsibility.

In a sea of indictments that are coming up against the GOP, its a good thing we have this petty scandal for the media and the lock step GOPers to gravitate towards.

Mcinney's actions may well have been out of line, but don't tell me there's not even the possibility of what she said being true. The race card ridiculous? the gender card ridiculous? When just the other day Tom Delay, one of your fabulously moral Republicans who resigned because he will be going to jail when his case is over, was just recorded saying nobody likes a female know-it-all...

Oh yeah, we're past sexism and racism on Capitol Hill...sure we are.

This is why I posted this issue. I didn't make it other than what it really is... my idiot congresswoman from the 4th District. It never ceases to amaze me that *some* folks will over look what she did and this issue and start the " yeah, but " game over what other politicians did. I DON'T GIVE A GORRAM FLYING FORNICATION!! THAT'S NOT THE POINT! If Tom Delay murdered puppies and ripped federally protected tags off of mattresses , it STILL wouldn't make what Cynthia did any less wrong.

Yes, it IS beyond possibility that what she says happened is true. She's a KNOWN racist herself and has done this sort of crap before! NO ONE is supporting her, and even her own PARTY is running away from her at light speed. You want to give examples of sexism and racism by the Capitol Police? Cynthia admitted to striking the officer and didn't deny the events which took place.

I don't care if she's black OR a woman. She's WRONG! Sorry, but being black and or a woman does not exempt one from acting like a civilized human being ! If she wants to be treated w/ respect, she must EARN it. Just like anyone else.

My post was specifically responding to somebody within this thread who said that liberals have a hard time taking personal responsibility, whereass, by omission, Republicans must have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever. You Tell me that's not a sheltered reality that person is living in.

So yes, that IS the point of my post. To draw attention to how ridiculous that statement was.

I didn't say she didn't strike the officer. Her official story,(while perfectly capable of being a fabrication) is that he grabbed her inappropriately...I don't even know whether she reacted before even knowing who it was who grabbed her.

Frankly, the whole case is ridiculous. Was anybody harmed? Did this guy really need to press charges? Was it really not motivated by some political agenda?

That said, the old addage 'its not the crime, its the cover up' is something that still concerns me. If truly, she is trumping up these counter charges just to try to get her own ass out of the sling, she is acting way inaproppriately for a person of her position, and should be treated as such non-partisanly.

Is Cynthia Mickiney a known racist? I'm going to abstain from taking your characterization as cannon because she's never given me any such indication from the interviews and conversations I've seen her take part in. If you have a specific article as to that fact, I would find that interesting reading.

Same goes for Tom Delay and Matresses. I mean, I believe it, but I'll withold judgement until I see some hard evidence.

I am glad you could give a rat's ass about what party did this and what party did that. It truly is heartening that there are still people out there that look at the crime and not the button on the lapel. I'll look forward to some of your scathing articles on the Bush wiretapping and the Valerie Plame leak. You've probably got something in the archives about Randy Cunningham. You're right, these aren't partisan issues, and politicians should not be considered above the law.

Well, one thing is possible about this Congresswoman from the ATL - she represents her constituents.

I hear all the time from my Atlantan friends about how often people from there play up race/gender issues to try and get away with crime. If only judges can see right through that type of coy behavior, Rep. McKinney will be serving jail time.

Cynthia is a nut case and a racist. That's well known in her home district ( where I live ) by everyone. Sorry, there's no ONE article I can post , but she pulled this cry wolf stunt before, when Bill Clinton was in office. She went to the White House and *claimed * she was being treated like the hired help, and that her white assistant ( no issues there, huh Cynthia ?) was treated as a member of Congress. I say she's paranoid and obssessed w/ being treated as royalty.

There's more, but time to go.

DUELIST

Righteous9, you rock. This Congresswoman's actions were a publicity stunt that worked. It had nothing to do with her being a horrible, filthy, shiftless, (dare I say it) Liberal (SHUDDER,) and everything to do with her being an obscure politician looking for some free facetime on TV. She was being a jerk. Period.

There is never a shortage of jerks inside the Beltway, all you gotta do is look. We have a VP who SHOT someone in the face, and hid out from the cops for a while afterward. We have a Chief of Staff who had an active CIA officer outed as payback for her husband's legitimate objections to the President's fabrications regarding another country, and we had an Attorney General who personally backed away from his reponsiblity to investigate the incident. We reelected the only administration in US history to push for and GET a tax cut in the middle of a war. Actually two wars. A senior official in the recently formed Homeland Security bureaucracy was just busted for soliciting sex from what he believed to be a fourteen year old girl. The pharmaceutical and oil lobbies, two heavyweight special-interest Republican campaign contributors and two usually heavily regulated industries in the US, are posting the largest annual profits ever despite a natural disaster that damaged US production capacity for both industries. A natural disaster that was badly mishandled by a FEMA Director the President publicly praised right before hanging him out to dry.

Does this mean all Republicans are evil, like all those vile Liberals obviously are? John McCain is, I believe, a man of integrity. Pat Robertson, who is at best incredibly irresponsible and at worst some kind of mentally ill, wrecked McCain's first Presidential bid and Republican rank and file went along with it.

I'll start believing in a generalized aura of Republican integrity when Pat Robertson donates all his personal and ministry assets to the Southern Poverty Law Center - it's got that whole "least of my brethren" thing mixed with the "root of all evil" thing, oughta play well with the heavy hitters in Heaven, dontcha think?

Speaking of racism, remember the Willy Horton ad? Yeah, I always figured that was some sorta Liberal plot to discredit the party which used that ad to help win an election. It almost worked, too - good thing we's too smart fer 'em. Them Librals, they's sneaky, ya gotta watch 'em.

I could go on all day, but you get the point. Dirty, rotten, lowdown Liberals (may Our Blessed Savior Jesus curse their names and make fire to rain down on their heathenous and vaguely-defined-but-politically-useful-in-a-jingoistic-sort-of-way heads, Amen)do not have a corner on racist, irresponsible, duplicitous or idiotic behavior.
Liberals and conservatives just tend to have different blind spots. McCain and Powell are two good Republicans who have both been chewed up and spit out by the some of the worst elements of their own party. Paul Wellstone was, and Russ Feingold is a good example of a decent, conscientious, hardworking Liberal Democrat politician. One's dead and sorely missed by his constituents, and the other is probably about to be chewed up and spat out by the worst elements of his own party.

Weird game.

Hey AURaptor there was an article in yesterday's Richmond Times Dispatch about how McKinney is now under fire for using her Congressional credit card (taxpayer money) to pay for a singer to be contracted, flown in, and put up in a hotel for a fund raiser. Of course now that the spot light is on this inappropriate use of the taxpayers money she is feigning ignorance claiming she did not know it was wrong & is claiming she will pay the money back.

This McKinney is a real piece of work. Too bad she is an example of the majority on the Hill and not the minority.

This McKinney is a real piece of work. Too bad she is an example of the majority on the Hill and not the minority.

Got to love the corrupt american political system.

Yeah, I heard that too. It was Isaac Hayes - aka 'CHEF', of South Park fame. It's a nice double whammy for the embattled McKinney. And as I was out today, I heard 'Clubber' Cynthia apologize, of sorts, on the House floor. With an impending arrest warrant coming her way, she did about the best she could on her comments. Only one thing, her prior divisive, antagonistic comments she made all week before kinda makes anything she says now a moot point.

Cynthia McKinney for president. Auraptor and his Bush gods to Gitmo. Hear hear!

Junior Bush massacres New York City and DC and New Orleans, gets worshipped as god. McKinney accuses Bush of perping 9/11 and stealing $5-trillion from Pentagon CAFR pension funds and kidnapping 200,000 children and women for slave brothels, gets assaulted by copster in Congress, and faces 5 years prison for felony non-crime. Does that sound right to you?

This is the same DC copsters who hired 100s of convicted felons without background checks, and got caught stealing 10,000s of cars from DC residents. The same DC cops that don't even bother identifying murder victims, much less attempt to find the killers (who are "licensed" to sell crack for Sir George Bush Sr Knight of the BRITISH Empire and CIA/MI6). The same DC copsters and prosecutors who refuse to arrest the terrorists who confessed to perping the terrorist massacres in DC and NYC on 9/11/2001, named Junior Bush and DICK Cheney.
Quote:

African-American clergy and elected officials rallied to support the six-term congresswoman at an Atlanta church Monday, and in an appearance on CNN with her lawyers, McKinney again contended that she was the victim of a white police officer's racial bias.

McKinney was stopped by a Capitol policeman while she was going around a security checkpoint in a House office building last Wednesday. Members of Congress are allowed to skirt those checkpoints, but the officer, not recognizing McKinney, tried to stop her. A scuffle ensued.

McKinney said, "I used my arm to get him off of me. I told him not to touch me several times."

Myart, who has called the officer's actions an "assault" on McKinney, said the congresswoman did nothing wrong in responding the way she did.

"The congresswoman acted and reacted, as far as I'm concerned, appropriately," Myart said. "In our jurisprudence there's something called self-defense."

"I have been in Congress 11 years and I can go into many airports, not just in America but around the world, and people don't have a problem recognizing me," McKinney said on CNN. "It's only with certain police officers on Capitol Hill."

A security video shows McKinney entering the building and moving around the metal detector and X-ray machine.

It does not show her encounter with the police officer, according to officials familiar with it.

Ain't it hilarious that Gangsta Govt's Robocop Spy Cams ALWAYS "malfunction" when they catch copsters perping felonies? Ain't it funny Gangsta Govt refuses to put Robocop Spy Cams on the Mexican border, to watch 7,000 terrorists invading USA every day? Ain't it funny this copster ain't working on the Mexican border, so he can grab ILLEGAL alien invaders, instead of grabbing members of Congress?

Auraper, did you burst one of your 2 brain cells on that drivel, or do you believe in the conspiracy theory that McKinney waved her magic wand and "flipped" the black-box voting machines, in multiple elections? I welcome your pathetic attempts to mind-kontrol this forum, since it's so simple to see through your BS.

That bitch Pelosi is a mafia traitor, which is why she's in charge of whipping Dems who get uppity. Lewis, isn't that a Jewish name? Funny how they think they own Congress with the traitors and spies of Israeli AIPAC. Like Jew Joe Lieberman being a CURRENT citizen of Israel, as are ALL Bush's Jewish neoCONS, just like Jr Bush's Jewish director of Dept of Homeland Security, Commie-born Comrad Chertoff. Jews hate niggers, ever since the Jews ran slavery in USA. Do YOU hate niggers? Auraper, are you a Jew, Khazar, AshkeNAZI or perhaps even, shudder the thought, a REAL Sephardic Semite? Did you know ALL Arabs are Semites? Did you know that bombing Iraq is an act of anti-Semitism? Do you even care?

Auraper, are YOU a traitor? Are YOU a terrorist? If you voted for ANY Bush, you ARE permanently defined as a TERRORIST under the U.S.A.P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, with your voting record preserved as evidence as a public record... I'm sure those voting records are going to come in real handy when Jr Bush, or the next traitor, declares martial law and rounds up the slaves for Death Camps. I would have thought that was fairly common practice for investigational journalism though? If you get a document that says "politician X did Y" and there is no way to authenticate it's authenticity what do you do? You try to confirm at least what facts you can via other sources but in the end at some point you either drop the story, in which case you MAY have hidden something the public has a right to know, or publish and risk smearing an innocent man.

Tough call. What I think is increasingly happening is that with so many TV news outlets the urge to get the "scoop" on air before the opposition seriously cuts into the verification and consideration time.

citizen - believe what you want, but here are some facts.

Cynthia McKinney is a Congresswoman, not a Senator. There are 435 members of Congress. There are 100 Senators.

Never before in the history of the capitol police has ANY member of House OR the Senate struck an officer , uniformed or plain clothes. Ms McKinney is the 1st to do so.

Ms McKinney has a history of crying racism and making unsubstantiated claims of harrassment.

Quote:

After an incident in 1993 when she had an altercation with an United States Capitol Police officer, a picture of her was posted for all officers since she refuses to wear a security pin identifying her as a member of Congress. There have been four more incidents since, including one involving a complaint that White House security officials mistook her 23-year-old white aide for her.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynthia_McKinney#Altercations_with_Police

( The man in the White House at the time of that complaint was Bill Clinton. )

So go ahead, make what ever claim you want as to what I'd post were the shoe on the other foot. Study the facts, or not. Seem's you've made up your mind, regardless. That's on you. No concern of mine.

I let the partisan types, such as yourself get all hot and bothered over this stuff, I just find it funny.

So Bush breaking international and domestic law, not an impeachable act, Clinton having sex with someone...

Mate I know what your response would be if she were Republican because it's obvious. That's what interests me, not this story. Whether she's Republican, Democrat, Green party, or party for the self realisation of Moldavian people doesn't matter to me one little bit.

Bush authorized him to leak information from a classified intelligence report to a New York Times reporter. Details of (homosexual Jew) Lewis "Scooter" Libby's testimony were included in a court filing made yesterday by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, who is prosecuting Libby for perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements in connection with the probe into the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity. According to Fitzgerald's filing, an excerpt of which you'll find below, Libby, 55, testified in 2003 that he provided reporter Judith Miller with information from a classified National Intelligence Estimate after being told by Cheney that Bush "specifically had authorized" him to "disclose certain information in the NIE." Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff, resigned his White House post last October following his indictment on five felony counts."

Your reaction though, now that's interesting.

Something which has never happened before, you have the nerve to say " same crap, different person, different day". Your ability to see only what you want is astounding.

Bush broke no international/domestic laws, so your point is, as usual, moot.

You don't care about the story. So, what else is new ?

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Actually this is disingenuous. By definition that statement means I can't be cutting things out of my view point.

I think you'll find the "your ability to see only what you want is astounding" statement fits two people here. You and PirateNews.

Hey there’s another parallel, things ain't looking good AU .

Actually, case in point:

You ability for self deception is truly remarkable.

My point as usual not moot. You, as usual, don’t have one.

You don't care about the story.

Nope because it's the normal political posturing and it's in America, a country I don't live in, as you well know.

What was the last internal political story you even heard about from Britain? Do you follow and care that closely about internal actions of some politician in another country, or are you just being a hypocrite?

That's pretty funny. I care about a great many things, things that matter. You care about one thing, proving that your way is the only right one.

If that means cheering as a US strike aircraft drops bombs on a hospital I'm sure you would. Not because you think dropping bombs on civilian hospitals is the right thing to do, you just don’t care, unless it’s a democrat doing it of course. You care about this partisan "we're always right you’re all evil" bullshit, I don't, well done. Glad it finally got through, I thought I was going to have to break out the crayons and pop up book edition for the under fives before you were going to get it.

It's barely worth caring about, it's all you care about, what I care about are things that matter, things that aren't just pointless wastes of time. Get on and good luck with your end sweet pea.

Bubye now
