CANTONHEROINE

Shocking stuff, isn't it?
Personally, the guy irritated me no-end. I thought he was a reckless idiot and left a terrible impression of Aussies on people overseas. (No - real Australians aren't like that. And we don't say 'Crikey' all the time, either).
That being said, it's still a strange and horrible way to go, and I feel very sorry for his kids.

Wow, whether you liked him or disliked his ways, you have to feel sorry for his wife and kids.
And to die so young. Terrible.

My heart goes out to his family.

Mal: You're on my crew... Why we still talking about this?

I was never really fond of his antics, but I think the man should be remembered for his conservation efforts... a legacy to be proud of

The following is taken from www.ninemsn.com.au

Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin is dead after being attacked by a stingray on the Great Barrier Reef during the filming of a new TV series.
The 44-year-old's heart is believed to have been pierced by the stingray barb.

I went to Australia Zoo this time last year and it was truly impressive what he had done with the place.

Of course there is a sense of inevitably about this but it is still a loss nonetheless.

I like the guy. He has that rush in him that really showcases fun in terribly dangerous situations.
And he's done a wonderful job with regards to conservation of wild life.
He is a big loss in global wild-life conservation.
My condelences to his family.

This is a guy who loved what he did and did it despite the danger, and was good at it and successful. And on top of all that, he did it with compassion. Man, you can’t invent that kind of courage.

Sorry for his wife and kids though.

HKCAVALIER

This is sad news. His wife is from Oregon and I have just a single degree of separation from the Irwins. Steve Irwin was a very good person by all acounts, a big hearted man who was deeply committed to education and to children. Though it wan't hard to imagine him going out this way, I was hoping to hear about a wirey, white-haired man in his late seventies fighting the biggest crocodile on record, not a young father dying in a freak accident.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

On a dangerous shoot, they'd have medical care at the ready. For him to have died that way was completely unforseen. It's like the young woman who died in an earthquake when facade popped off as she walked by. There are instances where you can only think - 'it must really have been their time'.

My condolances to the family.

Steve will be greatly missed.

I loved watching his stuff when it first came out. I never missed an episode. I had not liked a nature show as much since, well never. There were a few I liked as a child but nothing I loved.

He made the world love the ugly creatures. Before him no one would have cared if Crocs and gators were gone. He love all of the Earth's creatures and help a lot of people to at least respect said creatures more.

I am sad that my daughter will never get to see a new episode of his show.

My condolences go out to Terry, Bindi Sue and Bob.
Kids, your father was a great man and is irreplaceable.
