I for one hope it happens. He was a great candidate who should have won.

Yes. I agree. I don't live in Maryland (although I'm a native of that state), so I didn't follow the campaign closely. But, from what I'd heard and read about Mr. Steele, it's a shame he didn't win.

I hope the party will find some place to best utilize his abilities, whether in this capacity or another.

I live in Maryland, I'm a Democrat, and I voted for Steele. Why? It was an anti-Cardin vote.

Ben Cardin is the biggest waste of space Maryland has ever seen, and now due to Ben Cardin's downhomsie appeal to those without the sense God gave little green apples (Baltimorons)he's going to continue that legacy into the Senate.

Cardin won because he appealed to ignorant people in Baltimore and there is such an anti-Republican wind blowing through Maryland.

Martin O'Malley (D, and the former Mayor of Baltimore) won the Governorship of Maryland for the exact same reason.

I'm no huge Michael Steele fan, either...he did nothing for Maryland I'm aware of as Lt. Governor. He sure didn't promote his accomplishments in ads.

I don't know if Michael Steele would be good as the RNC Chair. I don't think he has the leadership qualities the Chair needs.

Sad, really. Voting for the lesser of two evils.
*Thanks my lucky stars I don't live in Virginia

EDIT: I just reread my post, and realize it was pretty nasty to people in Baltimore. I apologize if you are from Baltimore and took offense to my tone. People close to DC aren't as happy as Baltimore is that Cardin and O'Malley won.

In the early morning of November 8, a commentator on Fox News quipped that one of the many things this election will be remembered for is that the two best candidates lost. Michael Steele and Harold Ford.

It's a horrible message that they both happen to be African-American.

In 2010 there is an election for Barbara Mikulski's seat. A Democrat, she could possibly retire and not seek another term. That will make it much easier for Steele to win the seat.

Skywalken-

Do you live in Maryland? If not, just know that Barbara Mikulski would have to rape, murder, and steal in order NOT to be reelected. She's much beloved by her constituents.

She's the Strom Thurmond (without the Southern Baggage) of Maryland.

She has stated clearly she will retire
a) if her mental capacity fails
b) she is physicall unable to go to the Senate
c) when Hell freezes over

Michael Steele has a much better chance(in Maryland) trying for a House of Reps run.

I agree.

On a similar note, as a resident of Pennsylvania, I have been saying for the better part of a decade that Rick Santorum was one of the best (if not the best) person in the U.S. Senate. It was heart-breaking to see him lose his seat. I'd have readily handed them Specter, but to lose Santorum was a disaster.

I'd like to see how many federal seats liberal candidates would win without the majority of the major media as their ally. I suspect the number wouldn't be many.

CNN tells YouTube to pull video outing sodomite Ken Mehlman as head of Gay Old Perverts party

www.tidmus.com/blog/index.php?id=181

I just got a cease-and-desist letter from YouTube, see below, regarding my CNN footage I posted. The footage, you'll recall, was from Larry King Live last night in which Bill Maher outed Republican Party chair Ken Mehlman as gay. It seems that CNN has suddenly decided that it no longer wants bloggers, or YouTube, posting any of its video, which is kind of surprising since I always thought we were doing a CNN a favor by constantly touting their network. You can still see the entire video on Huff Post.

SOUPCATCHER

I think Michael Steele is an outstanding candidate for head of the Republican party. As Justin Rood and Paul Kiel point out, over at TPMmuckraker, Steele didn't want Bush campaigning with him, thought that running as a Republican was a big detriment to his campaign and did everything in his power to label himself as a Democrat. That's the perfect person to be the public face of the party.

RUE

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

Just a sidenote about the 'face' of the republican party. It was pointed out to me that it would be better not to impeach Bush, just investigate the hell outa him. Reason being he will still be in office but completely discredited. Hanging for the next two years like a rotting corpse at the gates with a sign on his neck - here is a republican
