Saw this on CNN.
The Shuttle has to land. It's gonna run out of fuel for the electrical system some time Saturday.

The weather at Canaveral is predicted to be unsatisfactory for landing. The weather at Edwards AFB in California is predicted to be beyonf the limits: 20 mph cross winds, when the shuttle specs limit crosswinds for landing to 17 mpg.
The weather is acceptable at White Sands, New Mexico, but no shuttle has landed there since the 80's.

If a shuttle lands there, NASA will have to fly in bunches of heavy equipment, at major cost, to service and load the shuttle for the trip back to Florida. There's also the possibility of damage because of sand or wind. It will also add a month to the delay for service before the shuttle is ready for its next flight.

So NASA is now saying that the shuttle has upgraded landing gear and tires OK for crosswinds of 23 mph.

They're gonna make the final decision at the last possible moment, but they wanta land at Edwards, regardless of the risk.

Seems they didn't learn from Challlenger or Columbia: engineers put those limits there in the first place for good reasons, and fudging them is not a good idea, especially when the primary reason is to compromise safety because of money.

Seems to me, that NASA is gonna risk snuffing a whole crew and another shuttle on landing, just to save money. I don't wanta see that, and it might work safely, but it's a bad idea.

Erm. Edwards has several usable runways on different compass bearings, plus a dry lake bed so I would`nt start worrying just yet. Worst case to my mind might be a heavy landing resulting in some minor damage.

NASA has junk. It's a sad day when airbus is way ahead with their new model airbuses in high tech. Boeing still puts out a good structure but their behind airbus when it comes to avionics. Look I've got almost 25 years as a working A&P mechanic that just how I feel. I went down to Cape Caneveral two months before Columbia's ill fated voyage. I was shocked. The garbage sent into space from FLA is criminal. Will never get to Mars with that dated type tech. My first opinion was they need a mechanic to ride along. Not some scientist who can't put a deck on his house. NASA could have saved that crew with a wrench who could take a space walk, evaluate damage, repair it, or ask for kit with the right fix to be sent up. Man we are kidding are selves with cutting costs and being safe. It takes a wrench with experience in different fixes and knowledge of tools. I laugh at all the nuts and bolts on the shuttles then I cried. I value my license because its my lively hood so chewing management is not a problem. We are Americans and yet are quality is about bottom line that is not American. I actually say a pray now every time they go up. I believe the astronauts are ignorant to the dangers they face. Well they got to get down soon cause I live in New Mexico now and their expecting snow in Albuquerque saturday. Good luck on reentry.

They made it back safely, of course.
Of all things, a window opened in the weather at Canaveral.
I'm glad...

HAARP? Or does NASA just fake the shuttle missions like it did with Apollo, and the current "Blue Sky On Mars" golfball missions? USA gave all its shuttle technology to Communist Russia, which flew robotic shuttle missions. NASA now orders its shuttles to fly final approach over Gulf of Mexico instead of USA, to censor videos of potential incineration. Is the "real" shuttle just air-dropped from a 747, to ensure "successful" missions (and budgets), like it did for Apollo?

I was an "A&P" for Uncle Scam's supersonic Air Farce, and I've built 450mph plastic jet-engined jet-prop private aircraft, for my family's aircraft sales biz. I eyewitnessed Apollo 17 launch, but I did NOT see the astros board the rocket, nor did I eyewitness then set foot on the Moon. That during Uncle Scam's genocidal Vietnam War. How can we set foot on the Moon, when we can't even defeat a 3rd-world slum like Vietnam, after 30 years of nonstop war? How can we fly space shuttles, when we can't even defeat a 3rd-world cesspool like Iraq, after 15 years of nonstop war? It's all just a dog and pony show for the sheeple.

If folks saw how most aircraft are constructed and maintained, very few would trust their lives to such a contraption. The last time I flew a Boeing 757, I videotaped fuel sucked out of the fuel tank on top of the wing, streaming down the wing the entire flight.

Boeing already moved some of it's factories to Communist China, and was criminally prosecuted for treason by giving Top Secret military technology to those Commies. Commie China already rebuilds many engines for both US and Euro Airbus airliners, one of which leaked all its fuel, leaving its pilot to glide 100 miles to the shuttle airport in the Azores Islands, in the middle of the night, without engines and without electronics... NASA now buys its rocket engines from "ex" Commie Russia. The Pentagon even buys its bullets from Commie Israel, which is now in charge of the US border "defense" from the Mexican invasion.

-Gus Grissom, Apollo 1 commander, famous last words before he and his crew were incinerated and murdered on the launch pad during a "routine test"

"Regarding the Apollo mission, I can't say 100% for sure whether these men walked on the Moon. It's possible that NASA cut corners just to be the first to allegedly go to the Moon. NASA could have covered it up. If some of the film was spoiled, it's remotely possible they may have shot some scenes in a studio environment to avoid embarrassment."

"And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. This is the great dragon of chapter 12, Satan or Azazel. He has a number of names, but in each case, he is the king of all the demons, Lucifer, who became Satan."
-Revelation 9:11, Christian Bible (KJV with Forerunner Commentary)

"Operation NORTHWOODS may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the U.S. government. Operation Northwoods had called for nothing less than the launch of a secret campaign of terrorism within the United States in order to blame Castro and provoke a war with Cuba."

NASA TV can't even produce its "live" TV network with SOUND, during the current shuttle mission. No sound for the entire mission. No sound from the spacecraft, no sound from Mission Control...

Pentagon/CIA's Operation Northwoods/Mongoose included murders of NASA astronauts to blame Communist Cuba (11 Appollo astronots died ON EARTH), and perped the snipers assassination of President John "We Will Go To The Moon In This Decade" Kennedy, to blame Communist Russia and Cuba, and end JFK's retreat from invasion of Commie Vietnam.

And why does EVERY shuttle crew act like they're high on hemp, every time they're videotaped boarding the shuttle for launch? Any intelligent person would have a serious "soldier in combat" expression, or a "deer in the headlights" mask, for fear of Challenger's repeat.

"And don't ride on anything with a Capissen 38 engine, they fall right out of the sky."

Remember when Bush said NASA would be landing people on Mars soon, it was after the Iraq invasion we had seen tragic events like our own space Shuttle disintegrated and China started putting people in space in a vessel that looked like a version of a Russian spaceship. When he made that I wanna be a JFK speech back in Jan of 2004 Bush was big on the Mars idea.

Funny thing is he hasn't really mentioned the word NASA since.

NASA's future will depend on the next election and sadly most of the candidates don't give a damn about space. All the new guys want to talk about is War, Social services, a fence to keep out Mexicans and the abortion topic.

Most of the candidates would gut NASA so they have more money for their private sailing yatch or more cash to do something with this Iraq BS.

The new NASA Administrator Michael Griffin thinks we may have already lost our position as the world's no 1 superpower,

McCain and Hillary really stand on opposite sides on a lot of issue but they do seem to have an positive opinion on Mars exploration.
