I'm not saying this guy isn't right to a certain extent, but it seems to me in some cases he is confusing motivation with justification. Many sane Muslims are probably horrified by Bin Laden's tactics, so he feels it's necessary to justify his acts by bringing up past US actions in the Middle east to get them to overlook his methods. I really love it when they use the Palestinian/Israeli conflict as justification for terrorism. They don't give a dam about the Palestinian people, it's just another rallying cry to get sane Muslims to overlook their barbaric tactics. You would think that someone as knowledgeable about Bin Laden as this guy wouldn't fall so easily for his propaganda.

I hope we can reduce our dependence on oil and get all of our troops home in the not to distant future. Then if they continue to attack us we will have some justification for "nuking them from orbit" as has been previously suggest here. Just using the same logic as the guy in the interview.

Justification seems like such a petty concern, under the circumstances. I want the terrorism to stop. If we're doing something that's making it more likely, I want us to stop.

I don't think that you understood what was said on that link. He didn't say that the Muslims agree with the tactics, just with what Bin Ladin has said are problems with the US's foreign policy. There IS a gigantic different btw.

Also, when it comes to justification vs motivation, you're confusing your opinion with others perspective. You also don't seem to have a clue as to what decisions have had what effect to others in there own eyes. It's NOT about what reaction you THINK that others /should/ have, it's about what others reaction IS.

How about you pick up and book and learn about others culture and history and read the international section of a paper. Maybe then you'll be able to see what's really going on and stop using words like "probably".

I think it has to go beyond just rethinking a few policy's. When policy goes wrong, there has to be another way to fight that wrong, before violence.

The UN desperately requires reform, the security council, its veto power, and the way five nations control it has to end.

The International criminal court needs to become not only functional, but universal.

And when rules are made those are the rules, no exceptions, no one offs , or treating anyone differently at a whim or over with whom they are aligned with.

The war against terror has to start at home, and that fight has to involve in the decentralization of the powerbase the world has fallen into. Those in power, of course will object.

The only time changes of these magnitude seem to occur is after a major war in which everyone loses, the question is would it be a price worth paying?

Sounds to me like you're the confused one. Next time try responding to what I said and not your own misconception. I've heard this guy interviewed many times and have a good understanding of what he's trying to say, unfortunately you don't. We can find many of the reasons Muslims hate us in what they say, but Bin Ladens propaganda is not he same thing.

Seems to me like if you want to know what Muslims think you should listen to sane ones not mass murderers.
