I fail to see how this photo has caused so much of a stir. It's common for official visitors to a foreign land to be donned w/ tradional local wear.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

The picture itself is meaningless... but if it is part of a campaign ploy it should have meaning

If the drudge report is correct then the photo came from the Clinton camp... what does that say about how that camp views the electorate that they would react negatively to the point of voting differently over this. Arrogance and disrespect that should lose Hillary the bid, if she was involved in this shady exercise or fails to act against its roots.

I concur, much ado about nothing.

A while back someone posted a pic of Shrub in one of those long satin robe things worn in the far east, and while he looked kinda self-conscious wearing it, it looked a hell of a lot more stylish and comfy for the region than a three piece suit.

I know if I had to go out into the baking desert I would, if possible, opt for something like a disha or long robe, in white, rather than conventional american garb in which I would get my ass baked like a potato.

And leaving aside religous and cultural issues, I always thought turbans were some right cool lookin headgear, although I would opt for a wide brim ventilated straw hat, unless it was real windy... cause sunburn on your ears kinda sucks.

One of the things I miss due to our current atmosphere of fear and paranoia is seeing folk around the airport and vicinity in their dressed in the fashions of their home nation - it's not so common anymore, and that saddens me a bit.

What I find mildly amusing is that this seems to have come from the Clinton camp, yet it's more in line w/ what a Dem candidate would accuse a GOP camp of submitting. Point being, the Dems are actually more like the stereo typical hate mongers they accuse the GOP of being in the 1st place.

The fact that this photo caused a stir at all shows how superficial our society is. Image is everything, sadly...

Choke choke again
I thought my demons were my friends
Getting me in the end
They're out to get me
Since I was young
I've tasted sorrow on my tongue
And this sweet chugga gun
Does not protect me

That's right
Trigger between my eyes
Please strike, Make it quick now

JONGSSTRAW

The Clintons and their "smear & attack" machine have struck again...nothin' new, been doin' it for decades...Only now it's against a fellow Democrat, not the usual Republican enemy, or the multitude of women accusing Bill of rape or fondling. Funny how their despicable tactics are finally out in the open without the media running interference for them, and most folks are a bit sickened by it...the race card, the muslim card, the inexperience card, the preaching "prophet" card, etc. It's all just backfiring on her and Bill, and very soon I believe they'll both be gone from this race. She is actually mocking and ridiculing the masses of Dems who are supporting Obama, even though he's won 11 primaries in a row....how retarded is that? How many more campaign mgrs are left to hire/fire?...how many more campaign "strategies" are left to try to defeat Obama? Answer : none...she's toast.

While I agree with everyone that this picture should have no effect, I'm afraid it will. Obama obviously thinks it will have a negative effect or he wouldn't be so upset about Hillary leaking it. This isn't one of those cases of fake indignation, hoping for a backlash. He knows like Alliethorn7 said, "Image is everything". There's still some conservative democrats in the south that won't like this image. If Obama continues to react negatively to this, I will guarantee these images will continue to appear throughout the campaign. If they can get him to react defensively every time this or another picture appears, it will put questions into the minds of some voters. It's not fair to Obama, but it is a reality of our "superficial" society.
