Naked coed and an understanding wife. These are the things which make people travel across oceans and deserts to live here...

Hero, that story's reflection on the greatness of this country brought a tear to my eye, thanks.

Just imagine, in any other country, the only place where that student could've been naked would've been under her burka!

Seriously though, I don't believe this story. It needs proof. As in, photos. Lots of photos. Did the wife or one of the police officers happen to have a camcorder? In which case, I'd like to see the video evidence. Unless she wasn't hot, in which case, I don't need any proof.

But we all know from American TV and movies that only hot chicks get invited to parties, so she must've been hot. So show me some proof.

Plus, if we lived in some crappy country that doesn't have our uptight sexual attitudes regarding breasts, this story would have pretty much NO, er, titillation factor.

(Not to mention a greater likeliness of your proof, Khyron.)

Zero, I love the old bitch, warts and all - but I am not about to turn a blind eye to the flaws, especially when they've begun to smother and strangle the very things that made this place any kind of decent to begin with.

The very WORST of it is our current idiotic nightmare of copyright law and enforcement - no one dares BE inventive or innovative anymore.

We do have our strengths, not the least of which is that we can be the most stubborn jackasses on the planet when it comes to something truely meaningful to us, both individually and collectively - which is maybe not *always* a positive thing, but our sheer cussedness has always been an asset in many ways.

And dude, americans are prolly the best farmers in the world, we can grow ANYTHING, ANYWHERE, a fact that no doubt makes the DEA shit cinderblocks of pure frustration at times, but will ensure that a true famine here would be near impossible.

And while I've little respect for our military as a whole, like I did say before, anyone pitting their airforce against ours... in about a week, doesn't HAVE an air force, we own the skies, prettymuch.

We DO have our greatnesses, but we also have our failures, and I'll not ever let the former blind me to the latter - while we aren't complete monsters, we're also but a pale shadow of what we COULD be.

And yes, that annoys the piss outta me.

Oh, yeah - 'cause if you thought our uptight sexual attitudes regarding breasts were impressive, wait 'til you see our uptight sexual attitudes toward televised willies!

It was makin' the Boys in the FCC right twitchy when we got here!

That's not America Hero, that's Detroit!

I swear to god the only other place weirder than Detroit is Florida. Pick any horrific story in the news and 7 of 10 times it happened in Florida. The other 3 times were in Detroit.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

My rough rule of thumb is to look for Texas, then Florida. It's often either one of those.

Is it too late to ask them to leave the union ?

I will not necessarily disagree.

Can't seem to remember the title, but I saw a B-movie once about this guy driving a Taxi, who's night got progressively stranger and weirder till he goes quite mad at the end of it all.

Sometimes I feel like that guy, really I do.

Perhaps the oddest incident was us being called in over the mechanical breakdown of a hearse, since strange that it may be, you must possess a chauffers license to transport the dead - we pulled the seats from one of our airport minivans, and since I was dressed up to drive the executive transport later that day, doubled in as a pallbearer since most of this guys relatives on site were a bit long in the tooth for heavy lifting.

He wasn't much for conversation, but he did tip well.

That made my day! All part of the greatness that is America!

Thanks, Frem - when I think the world is a complete and utter cesspit, you post something that makes me realize that it's not ME that's crazy - it's the world around me!
