Let the bill fail. Force Congress to freeze all spending and continue on an emergency status, with no raises in spending , across the board.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

A concern of the GOP is that the people aren't informed enough to understand their policies, while a fear of the Dems is that the people ARE.

Like Bush and all republicans before him didn't do that?!?!? Tunnel vision much? I also think you're confusing the current president with the old one. (EDIT: Kwicko, said it better than I.)

Seriously, your entire political system is based on division and pettiness. The theory was to have two extremes that would balance out. In practice it makes politics a cluster fuck. No-one works together. Instead they work at gaining power so that they can act as a dictatorship for four years.

That's what we got since Harper became the PM. You guys should count yourselves lucky that Obama at least is working at correcting things and promoting balance and working together. All we have here is a terrified Harper that wants to keep power as long as possible pushing through bills (and staying in power) through dishonest means. Though, it's expected that we're going to have yet another election this fall. Wouldn't have to waste all that time and money if Harper would have just behaved like a Canadian.

Love how you take quotes out of context and such. Precious.

Yeah, I'll get down and dirty from time to time, when the situations warrants, but I prefer to have a more level, honest and sincere conversation. When folks simply show up and toss out nonsense like the above, I'm not afraid to call them on it either.

Just keepin it real, brah.

Oh, and Penn Jillette talked about the GOP for probably 20 seconds out of a 7 minute long video.

And yet, that's all you seem to remember or feel about commenting on, while omitting his entire point about Democrats.

It's true, btw. Democrats claim to be so for the little people, but in reality, the hierarchy, at least, is narcissistic, elitist, hate filled and full of a complete sense of false entitlement.

But hey, great folks to vote for, if that's what you're into.

Smegma,

I was against the blossoming of the Debt, and have said so on many occasions. But at the very least, Bush was fighting 2 wars ( 1 necessary, 1 questionable ). Obama's excuse ? To simply to expand the size, role of Government and to take advantage of an economic down turn to install a laundry list of Utopian Liberal policies.

Big difference, in my book.

Also, again, you have it exactly 180 degrees backwards. The LEFT is the party of divisiveness and hatred. The Left constantly is segregating people by race, gender, sexual " life style ", etc.... All the GOP wants to call her citizens is AMERICAN.

Mike,

You're not my ' superior' in any dept., except your own dreams. But have fun w/ that.

I'll deal in facts, until morons hurl out snide remarks, asinine claims and then I'll shift gears. Or not. But your attempt to paint me by an occasional melt down, when most folks on here are guilty of the same, is quite literally the height of hypocrisy.

And then what's the most childish is how you won't acknowledge your own faults, but instead accuse ME of committing the sins you yourself are guilty.

I've grown far too tired of childish things from you and your band of cohorts. I know now I'm dealing w/ mental midgets, who have more interest in vilifying those who disagree w/ them than having any sort of honest discussion.

Yeah, it's not like the Roman emperor Nero married a male slave!

Oh wait, he did! In fact marriage between same-sex couples happened all the time in Rome, and wasn't outlawed until the Christian Emperors came along.

It wasn't my move. YOU said there was no examples of same sex marriage throughout human history. In reality there are many, it happened all the time in Rome and Greece, not just with crazy emperors. Japanese culture is replete with it, as is Chinese and other cultures.

Lying about what I said in the hopes people will miss you've just been proven completely wrong AGAIN and you're still not man enough to admit it, NOT your best move.

Feel free to admit you're wrong if your ever become man enough.

Crazy emperors marrying their boy slaves isn't exactly an example to hang your case on. I was speaking , and I suspect you know this, of a societal move where the common or even accepted practice of same sex marriages taking place. If some random emperor or "eccentric" leader does something, that's not to say it's widely accepted. Be it marrying your boy slave or sexing your own sister.

Some things just ought not be done.

Sure, it's been done, I suspect. Hell, almost anything humans "can" do has been done. Fathers marrying their daughters, people marrying farm animals,... that's not the point. The POINT is whether humanity as a whole can shift its historical construct of 1 man + 1 woman being married to now include same sex couples as "married".

And if that DOES happen, where to next ? Does it end there, or are we opening up the door for all sorts of unions, adults w/ minors, polygamy ? Inter-species marriages ?

I'm not sure all those who are eager to tear down civilization have thought these things through very much. If at all.

Sounds good to you I'm sure but, and I suspect you know this, I just showed that it was a societal norm, not merely move, to accept same sex marriages in wider Greek and Roman society, one that wasn't abolished until long after both converted to Christianity. I find it funny that I've said that three times now, but you continue to fixate on Nero because you can't accept that you're wrong on this. Way to ignore the facts.

In fact, if anything, it's the Abrahamic religions anti-homosexual and same sex marriage stance that's the aberration...

I don't think you've thought your argument through, at all. Lets slide right past the fact that your argument is just plain wrong from the stand point that it is a slippery slope fallacy, and so wrong by default, to the more pressing matter:

You've made the leap from marriage between two consenting adults, to being the same as state-sanctioned paedophilia and bestiality. Well done, because I have to tell ya, you've just shown us that you hold homosexuals in the same regard as child molesters. Do I need to say "Homophobe" or can we get there on our own? One wonders why you're so threatened by homosexuals marrying. Why you see it as such an abomination, especially since you claim not to be a Christian, which is pretty much the only historical source for homophobia in the western world.

I remember reading of a scientific study on this very subject in fact. Not to go into details, subjects were split into two groups, both self identifying as Heterosexual, one saying they are anti-gay, the other being ambivalent or pro.

Both groups were shown homo-erotic pornography. Guess which group had a high incidence of arousal?
