Confirmed: The Obama DHS hit job on conservatives is real

Yesterday, Roger Hedgecock and the Liberty Papers posted an unclassified DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis report titled:
Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.
The “report” (PDF file here) was one of the most embarrassingly shoddy pieces of propaganda I’d ever read out of DHS. I couldn’t believe it was real.
I spent the day chasing down DHS spokespeople, who have been tied up preparing for a very important homeland security event later today: The First Lady is coming to visit their Washington office. Priorities, you know.
Well, the press office got back to me and verified that the document is indeed for real.
They were very defensive — preemptively so — in asserting that it was not a politicized document and that DHS had done reports on “leftwing extremism” in the past. I have covered DHS for many years and am quite familiar with past assessments they and the FBI have done on animal rights terrorists and environmental terrorists. But those past reports have always been very specific in identifying the exact groups, causes, and targets of domestic terrorism, i.e., the ALF, ELF, and Stop Huntingdon wackos who have engaged in physical harassment, arson, vandalism, and worse against pharmaceutical companies, farms, labs, and university researchers.
By contrast, the piece of crap report issued on April 7 is a sweeping indictment of conservatives. And the intent is clear. As the two spokespeople I talked with on the phone today made clear: They both pinpointed the recent “economic downturn” and the “general state of the economy” for stoking “rightwing extremism.” One of the spokespeople said he was told that the report has been in the works for a year. My b.s. detector went off the chart, and yours will, too, if you read through the entire report — which asserts with no evidence that an unquantified “resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalizations activity” is due to home foreclosures, job losses, and…the historical presidential election.
In Obama land, there are no coincidences. It is no coincidence that this report echoes Tea Party-bashing left-wing blogs (check this one out comparing the Tea Party movement to the Weather Underground!) and demonizes the very Americans who will be protesting in the thousands on Wednesday for the nationwide Tax Day Tea Party.

So, I have a question for Malkin: Are you saying that mainstream conservatives are now right-wing extremists?

Because, you know, the report* -- which in fact is perfectly accurate in every jot and tittle -- couldn't be more clear. It carefully delineates that the subject of its report is "rightwing extremists," "domestic rightwing terrorist and extremist groups," "terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks," "white supremacists," and similar very real threats described in similar language.

Nothing about conservatives. The word never appears in the report.

To date, there's never been such a report for " Left wing " extremist. The listing of items which are on the 'hit list' for what to watch our for comprise virtually all American conservatives.

Sure, groups like skin heads and KKK types NEED to be watched. Most all would agree on that. But 'hate' ? What IS hate. Hate seem to be anything which one differs w/ the Left wing on.

For simply wanting the U.S. Constitution to be upheld, or that our laws on immigration need to be actually FOLLOWED is some how a concern for Homeland Security ?

WoW. Just wow.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Hey, welcome to the club. I've been "watched" for years, for the sin of saying that there shouldn't be such things as unwarranted searches, or that having Americans torture people on American soil is wrong.

That got me labeled an "extremist" under the previous administration, by people who are now gobsmacked to find themselves labeled extremists.

I tried to point out way back then that what you do to me today, will be done to you tomorrow. I was called a terrorist and an America-hater for my words, by people exactly like - and in many cases including - YOU.

Frem tried to point out that collaborators were usually the first ones tossed into the maw of the machine they helped create, and he was told that if he hated America so much, he should leave.

So maybe the jack-boot really DOES feel different when it's on your face than it did when it was on your foot, eh?

This isn't the same thing. Not by a long shot. As stated before, there's never been a 'LEFT WING ' extremist report as this 'RIGHT wing' report. Sure, there have been investigations into specific Left wing groups, like ELF , but no such broad sweeping generality sort as this most recent nonsense that's come out. This is Obama's D.H.S., not Bush's. Bush never went this far in 6+ yrs , and Obama is just getting started.

Hello,

Ignoring the facts is something we've all certainly been guilty of at one time or another.

For mine own part, I don't like to see any broad brushstrokes. Left Wing, Right Wing, Independents. You can't put large philosophical ideas under the same vast umbrella. Clamping down on extremists needs to always be surgical

I warned ya Rappy, back when you were cheerleading this shit with all your pathetic little mental might, that when folks tired of it and sent that administration packing - the new administration sure as hell wasn't gonna put a stop to it, regardless of whatever they said, cause they wanted that power, which idiots like YOU cut away the barriers to, in THEIR hands...

And well, here we are.

So hows it taste, bitch ?

They're both guilty as hell, always were, always will be - but YOU were the one with the pom-poms when wiser folks were pointing out that not only was cutting the leash stupid then, but if you helped do it, soon enough you were gonna pay for it, in exactly this fashion, so don't go whining about being dished out a serving of a platter YOU helped carry to the table.

Being that neither "side" of our ridiculous political system has any intention of shoving that genie back in the bottle, since all they're really concerned about is who gets to hold the leash, as I've said so many times, the only satisfaction I can get out of this is watching your ass swirl it's way down the drain first.

Frem, you're simply not listening to anything I'm saying, OR reading anything I'm posting. Despite the Left's bitching and moaning about Bush and his "trouncing " all over the Constitution, he never pulled any stunt like this. Bush NEVER included his political rivals as being potential terrorist.

You really believe that shit, don't you ?

You're the very definition of gullible in both directions, with the short term memory of a fucking goldfish on meth... or, you're a partisan liar, in fact, probably both since you ain't got but a few feedback loops in between your ears to begin with.

You better fucking believe he did exactly that, up to and including using covert "antiterrorism" surveillance as political weapon, something the GOP's been notorious for since the days of that prick J Edgar Crossdressin Hoover.

How bout THIS little blast from the past then?

And further misuses were confirmed by Pete Hoekstra and former NSA perp come whistleblower Russel Tice, and fully corroborated by Thomas Tamm, former USDOJ perp come whistleblower, who's currently spilling his guts to Seymour Hersh, who will soon enough be ramming it down the right wings throat on a goddamn bayonet and more power to him, especially in light of illegally-retroactive "amnesty" for the telecom bitches that rolled their customers despite their own official policies and how Qwest got burned both officially and unofficially by the intel goons in direct retaliation for taking a moral stand and initially refusing to do so.

Lest you forget, I just got done burying far worse dirt cause of the social impact implications, and triaged the lot for what *could* be spilled without things coming to true stupidity.

And believe me, I made sure THAT stuff went to all the right damn places.

And now it's gonna get... interesting.

My very own Miranda Policy, you might call it, torch what must forever stay buried, and spill the rest, cause I am damn tired of looking over my shoulder waiting for one side or the other to show up with a knife for my back, and so, take all reason to do so away from them.

I goddamn guarantee you at least one brick-shitter out of it, if any of em dare go public with that mess.

LOLROTF!!!
Every Prez that pushes it makes it easier for the next, in some cases, they make it inevitable for the next. Obama is no saint, and he's gonna make mistakes, and some will be directly because of some of the s**t Bush pulled. So yeah, he'll think he's doing right, but will set it all up to be even worse on the next round.
Have fun with your partisan paddy cake, AU.

Now who's the one ignoring facts? Rapo, this is your BIGGEST failing: cherry picking.

Bush never included political rivals? How about calling Max Clelland unpatriotric? Outing a CIA operative? Spying on Congressional Democrats? Having Cindy Sheehan followed and harrassed for nothing more than speaking her mind? FBI spying on religious and other advocacy groups- like ACLU and CODEPINK- for doing NOTHING illegal? Bypassing FISA and tapping into millions of Americans' phone calls? Detaining American citizens indefinitely without trial and stripping them of the right of habeas corpus? Placing people on a secret "no fly" list? Hell, even I was followed for a couple of days!

I know you're going to claim this all (1) either didn't happen or (2) it was necessary.

It DID happen. It WASN'T necessary. Frem warned you, many times, just as he said This is yet ONE MORE major failure on your part, rapo. Just one more hole you didn't predict, one more that you fell into. Might want to look into your mental processes. The jackboot's on the other foot now. Nice feeling, ain't it?

Don't forget the U.S. Attorneys who were fired purely for political reasons; among the reasons cited were things like not pursuing vigorously enough election-fraud cases against Democratic candidates or incumbents which were deemed to have no merit.

And don't forget outing a covert American operative who was "outed" by the White House for the sin of her husband disagreeing with the Administration's phonied-up "evidence" of Saddam's WMD programs.

Yeah, Bush would NEVER go after someone over mere partisan politics...
