heh...

I have a semi-serious question...

wouldn't using campaign funds to cover up an affair be an appropriate use of those funds...

after all, the money is supposed to be used to help the candidate get elected, and if the affair is discovered, the campaign tanks.

You know, that's about as apt a description of Edwards as I've ever heard.

(EDIT: Ok, yes, some ranting, but dammit it's enough to drive one batshit, it is...)

Meanwhile certain "Libertarians" are gettin an earful from me on continuing to front a sleazeball like Barr, and a few sharp bits about the financial connection of Ruwart with known predator rings and her commentary regarding related issues happening immediately after money changed hands...

Which resulted in an immediate, and quite transparent ass covering frenzy which fooled no one, since they're still taking the money!.

And let's not even get into the dirt on Barr, not the least of which is being the damn *keynote speaker* for the CCC and then trying to laughably claim he didn't know what their values were, which is even more humorous when one considers the content OF his speech - the man is a stone hypocrite, symbol of everything that was ever wrong with the GOP and he brought those "values" to the LP with none of the benefits.

What with the current stealthy little slide as the now quite properly discredited scum of the GOP try to slime and sleaze their way sideways behind the Tea Parties and into the LP with Barr holding the damn gate grinning - and us kneecapping this effort before it even gets off the ground, things have been tricky as of late.

Edwards is a punk, sure - but damn near saintly compared to some of the other scum out there, although the only real reason he ain't more corrupt than he is, is mostly due to the fact that he don't *matter* enough for the real power brokers to put the arm on.

You might notice a connection, per chance, between the content of the harmann intercepts and the recent dropping of the AIPAC prosecutions, perhaps ?

Lemme give you a fucking hint, the "unnamed person" is ole Rahmbo, let's quit pretending we don't *know* that, ok ?

Follow the goddamn MONEY, if you wanna know who's pulling the chains, and for a fact it's an all you can eat (and more) buffet for folk trying to keep certain political groups from simply using that money to install bought and paid for candidates in the near future by buying off, sabotaging or "otherwise eliminating" any real competitors while gerrymandering districts to make sure YOUR vote ain't gonna matter no matter which lesser evil you choose to grab your ankles for.

If you ever wanna clear the deck for third party involvement beyond petty tokenism you have GOT to start locally, and local politics as a whole being what it is, you have GOT to play some rough, dirty hardball (will maybe, MAYBE explain that in detail later) cause the corruption at local levels is often wholly unchecked AND supported by local law enforcement. *

So, given things as they are, Edwards is just a sideshow, a convenient little "hey, LOOK" to focus attention on so no one pays attention to what they SHOULD be lookin at, as usual.

*PS - Seriously, seriously pissed at the local PD not only trafficking with, but actively protecting and defending the nearby crack house which is causing a lot of crime and violence overflow in the direction of site 3, requiring employment of professional private security, AND the bastards have gone so far as to do it in uniform and with marked cruisers while on duty...

And we have it ON TAPE - but who do you take it to, when the only "recourse" is to have a corrupt police department responsible for their own investigation ?

Property manager of site 3 has drawn the line, too, unless responding to an actual civilian request via 9-1-1, they're not *allowed* here any more, which may lead to a confrontation the next time one of them decides to come in here spotlighting license plates (on private fuckin property, no less!) cause they wanna make their goddamn ticket quota by harrassing folk with out of date stickers.

How can you call it anything but a protection racket when the damn locals have to contract us to protect them FROM the fucking police, and their crack-lord friends ?

I think the reason this is back on the front burner is because Mrs Edwards has a "Tell-All" book coming out very soon. When she hits all the morning shows she'll be asked the same question over and over; Why didn't you divorce him? Even I want to hear her answer, might be funny.
