Right now, there are two sides to this. The Left thinks the media slants Right and vice versa. There will NEVER be any pleasing of anyone on this issue unless the media actually gets a backbone of their own and start reporting from the actual center. Until that that time, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I think Repubclians should hang onto their core values-

Illegal immigration (good for big business)
War profiteering (good for big business)
Torture, warrantless wiretapping, and no habeas corpus (good for big goverment)
Encouraging bad banking practices and credit-card gouging (good for big business)
Cutting taxes (good for deficit spending)
Throwing money at the rich (good for big business)
Throwing money at the pharmas (good for big business)

Yanno, they shit on peeps morning noon and night, and once every four years they drag out some delusional poor sod like Joe the Plumber (who, it seems might leave the GOP) for some faux populism. Perosanlly, I think the Repubs should stick with that winning strategy.

Illegal immigration is more of a PLUS in the Democratic column. More people they can con into voting for them, the better

War Profiteering done under both parties, I beleive

Torture, etc . . . . wiretapping especially, done under both parties.

Encouraging bad banking practices . . . you mean like under the Clinton Administration with encouraging banks to extend loans to folks they wouldn't have given loans to in the first place?

Cutting taxes . . . I sure would like to pay less taxes, wouldn't you?

Throwing money at the rich - Dems have enough rich people on their side, too, yanno.

Throwing money at pharma - even Rue admitted (ir at least indicated) that government money-throwing at pharma is a good idea under nationalized healthcare.

Mal: You think she'll hold together?

Yanno, Joe The Plumber was just a guy who lived in the house where Obama was doing one of his walking tours. He raised a real concern for many Americans, namely income re-distribution, which sounds a lot like (to us rednecks) socialism. You Dems made such a fuss over him, having him investigated and all, that he became a pseudo-hero for the Right. Too bad he turned out to be a first-class moron, an idiot who cannot articulate a cogent thought. Too bad the fucking retards running McCain's freak show campaign chose to run with Joe The Plumber as some sort of person to rally around.

Sig, you continue to have exactly perfectly bacwards. The LEFT wants:
Illegal immigration, to stuff the ballot boxes and hoer inflate the welfare state.

Stealing from the producers to give to the slackers, whose only " job " is to vote for big gov't , Alliance loving, scum into office.

Giving more rights to the low life animals who want to slaughter us for not believing in their made up bullshit of a religion.

To WHAT?!

Also, can someone please explain to me how all these illegals are supposedly "voting"? And is illegal immigration more prevalent now than it was 8, 12, 16, 20, or 24 years ago?

Quote:

Two things:

1) I had no idea you were actually in public office. So THAT's how you did it - you were backed by the Alliance-loving scum vote! Figures, since you're such an Alliance-loving scumbag authoritarian yourself...

2) Are you talking about stealing from people like me, who work 40+ hours a week to "give" to people whose only "job" is going to board meetings and golf vacations? 'Cause I really do hate that brand of socialism...

I'm with you on that one. I think the christians in this country have far too much power already - we sure as hell don't need to give them the power to torture on top of that, just because of their made-up bullshit of a religion.

Didn't happen. If you have evidence otherwise, bring it to the table. 'Cause rappy- who keeps making the same claim- has never been able to back it up!

It depends on what the taxes are spent on. I would willingly spend more if our government would get out of the empire business and focus on meeting our national needs.

Unfortunately, too true: they tend to be just as heavily involved with banksters as the Repubs.

There is a difference between throwing money at the pharmas and spending wisely. Bush forbidding the government to negotiate for better prices for Medicare Rx coverage... that's throwing money at the pharmas (Just like Obama is throwing $ at the banks.)

Palin? Same deal. I think the problem with the repub party is that they ARE trying to appeal to a bunch of no-neck know-nothings, and that is EXACTLY why they picked Joe and Sarah. But, if you need know-nothings to support your platform... what does that say about your platform?

The "producers" are the people who actually- yanno- produce something. Not speculators and CEOs whose only function, it seems, is to gouge the producers as much as possible.

You quoted Dodd or Frank saying blah-blah-blah... at a time when neither of them had any power. You quote the WSJ saying blah-blah-blah. All opinion. But you have not been able to show a single memo, nor a pattern of loan-making, nor a government regulation, nor a single instance of ANY bad loan being "forced" on banks that they didn't eagerly create themselves.

When did this happen? What dollar amounts were involved? What banks? Who was twisting the banks' arms? How did they do it? What memos, regulations, enforcement actions, or lawsuits were involved?

People IN THE BANKING INDUSTRY, here on this very board and elsewhere, have said that no such thing happened. Don't you think THE BANKS THEMSELVES- like Cuntrywide, Shittybank and Skank of America would be the first to blame to government for their perilous state IF THEY COULD????

All you keep doing is repeating the same stupid internet rumor over and over. As far as I'm concerned it will never be anything but an internet rumor unless you come up with actual FACTS: instances, examples, accounts, regulations etc. which prove your case. Not the same old blah-blah-blah opinion-pieces that you keep citing.

Oh, and BTW- it would be helpful to all concerned if you did eventually figure out there IS a difference between fact and opinion.

They played their role in this whole mess, there's no denying that. Which is why the party is in such shambles. They tried to be Dem - lite, and look where it's gotten them.

Just because the GOP leadership is in major suck mode doesn't mean I have to give up my core political beliefs. In fact, it means I need to step it up more. And that's why Cheney is so right. Limbaugh, and not Powell or McCain, is more in line w/ what American conservatives need to listen to, if there's any hope in salvaging this nation.

Clearly, I lied.

McCain was / is / always will be a better choice than Obama. But that he lost to such a empty suit, and the mistakes in how he ran his campaign, clearly shows he wasn't what was needed to win.

Don't count on that any time soon. GOP/Bush had 8 years to do something about illegal immigration. After 911, with full support of all, they did nothing. Ooops, I forgot the McCain/Kennedy plan, supported by Bush, but which was abhorred by everyone else and easily defeated. I support a huge effort to reach out to Hispanics, who voted for Bush much more than they did for McCain. We lost their votes, we lost the Moderates, and fell to miniscule numbers of Blacks. Seems like the only one McCain had any appeal to was Sean Hannity, and all his bloviating didn't do squat for the election. Maybe the fact that he regularly trashed McCain prior to the nomination, came off as a bit hypocritical to fair-minded people. Also, isn't it about time that the retarded Republicans learn how to deal with the hostile Press? For 8 years they just sat there like crusted dung on your farm boots, barely ever challenging the dishonest media, rarely ever defending their President in the face of daily vicous attacks, ie, a complete abandonment of the leader of their Party.

Assuming Hispanics to be liberals may be a fragile argument. Although the illegal aliens do vote liberal because most criminals are Democrats, the Hispanic population has a very conservative, religious base. They are heavily weighted towards Catholicism. This would be in favor o the GOP.

Things don't always pan out the way they appear. Many blacks actually agree w/ such things as school vouchers and gay marriage. ( Most being for the former, against the latter ) Yet usually 90% vote Democrat.
