Councilman preps ban on 'Jumbo Slice' sales
May 23, 2009 - 11:27am

WASHINGTON - Blaming single-slice pizza sales as part of the crime problem in Adams Morgan, a D.C. councilmember is proposing a ban of the popular late-night snack in Adams Morgan.
The crowded bar and nightclub scene on 18th street has had a recent spout of violence, including a shootout that killed a man, and injured two police officers.

D.C. Councilman Jim Graham (D-Ward 1), who represents the neighborhood, tells WJLA-TV that the 'Jumbo Slice" pizza joints that populate the strip are part of the problem.

When pizzas are outlawed, only outlaws will have pizza.

Of course imma laughingly support this till they peel back the outrageous tax on bulk tobacco...

BUT, does the guy not realize if he does that there is a very strong possibility the local posse will lynch his ass, or at least fill it fulla holes ?

TDBROWN

This is about as stupid as the Caliofornia prison study 20+ years ago, that concluded that since 75% of the inmates smoked, cigarettes cause crime!

This would be like banning cars because drunk drivers use them.

To be honest, I'm quite shocked that they're not going after the high-capacity "assault pizzas". I mean who really NEEDS 16 slices of double-cheese pepperoni? Criminals and terrorists, that who.

Guess I'm just a good man.
Well, I'm alright.

So very true. I mean, you can't really take those Bigfoot pizzas hunting, nor are they really effecctive for home defense. It's just a matter of time before they go after the manufacturers as well. Pizza Hut, Dominoes. Papa Johns, Stone Mountain.

All of their days are numbered!

Maybe we could implement some sort of concealed-pizza licensing system, where you could carry around a small slice of pizza in your pocket, just in case...

But we really should go after the assault pizzas. Nobody needs that much pizza.

Just not on college campuses. As everyone knows, college students are nothing but mindless drunken lunatics. Pizza would only make a bad situation worse.

Heater installed at pool used by DC mayor
WASHINGTON (AP) - The D.C. government has installed a heater at a pool Mayor Adrian Fenty sometimes uses to train for triathlons.

Officials say the heater at East Potomac Pool cost $75,000 and is part of a pilot program. It's the only one of D.C.'s 19 outdoor pools to get an upgrade.

Fenty doles out Nats tickets to friends, contributors
WASHINGTON - It's good to be friends with D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty.

The mayor is continuing to shower his friends and family with government perks, like Nationals baseball tickets. (Note: The tickets are provided to the District government for free by the Nationals.)

Fenty has given thousands of dollars worth of baseball tickets to campaign contributors, longtime friends, several of his running partners, as well as a few members of Congress, according to records provided by the mayor's office.
