It should be offensive to your fellow liberals when you expose your radical delusions for all to see clearly.
Criminals are by far and away liberals, voting for liberals an average of 89% nationwide. It would take an incredibly dense or delusioned unit like you to transfer liberal tendancies you perpetually attempt to deny onto the opposition.

Again, reading comprehension really isn't your bag, is it, Rappy? You must've missed the "IF" part of that question, which was posted as a response-in-kind to Jong's (or was it YOUR?) passive-aggressive "all liberals" bullshit that he claims isn't offensive because it doesn't call anyone here by name.

So, as another response-in-kind, here's yours: Pedophiles are by far and away Republicans, voting for Republicans an average of 89% nationwide. It would take an incredibly dense pervert like you to transfer your pedophile tendencies onto your opposition.

Yeah, HE was the one responsible for the lack of civility in Congress. Not the "death panels" folks, not the "Obama = Hitler" crowd, not the "He's a MUSLIM!" bunch, not Joe (not his real name) "YOU LIE!" Wilson... Nope, it's ALL down to this one freshman congressman, who totally killed all civility in the Capitol.

Calling Republicans knuckle-dragging Neanderthals is an insult to knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.

Lack of civility generally implies a lack of respect. It doesn't matter who started it.

Something I think we could all learn from around here...

I'm glad you said that Wulf, because that is exactly what we've had in this country for a long time. It was always there to a degree all through history, but the Bush election victory over Gore in 2000 was the spark that re-ignited the inferno from the embers that the Clinton Impeachment left smoldering. And with the explosion of the internet and cable tv giving forums and universal access to all, it is no wonder that our society continues to fragment and deteriorate to level that would have seemed un-imaginable a decade ago. Also there are just hundreds of new issues and micro issues always popping up, and ideological and cultural sides form immediately. Americans have never had so much shit thrown in their face in a never-ending parade of battles, and the unfortunate and ugly byproduct of all that is the complete loss of any respect for the "other" side. And as you said, after respect goes, civility vanishes next. And the liberals here show their uncivil ways in a 20-1 ratio every day.

Brilliant post Jongs - seriously - I applaud every bit (up until the dig at liberals, and not because I am one (not) but because you were riding the high road up until then).
I think you completely nailed the fallacy of "the internet revolution" how more voices will lead to more participation and better understanding. If anything it's just more noise.

Awesome Pizmo, and you certainly nailed the part you objected to perfectly. I do admit ending it that way, because that high road you cite is often treacherous ground, and as a character you're familiar with once said, "I guess I'm not 100%."

Are you doing this in purpose, Jongsstraw??? Or are you really that dense?

Because apparently, it's OK for YOU (and all conservatives) to spout invective, but then your feelings get hurt when someone returns the favor. Who are you, exactly, to be calling for civility? And why should we listen to anything you have to say, seeing as you appear to have the insight of a fruitfly on the topic?

Ditto to you, Wulf. Seeing the mote in your brother's eye but not the log in your own.

When you guys start showing some respect - or at least not breath-taking hypocrisy- I'll feel like I can take you more seriously on the topic. As for now, I think Democrats and liberals in general need to start being MORE confrontational, not less. And we should have started about 10 years ago. Too bad libruls didn't show up at Bush speeches openly carrying weapons and threatening his life, eh? Maybe if we had started calling you guys knuckle-dragging Neandertals earlier, that smack upside the head would have dented your bad behavior. Because being nice and bipartisan- at least on the national scene- doesn't seem to have gotten anywhere.

Relax Signy. I never called for RWED civility, I just wrote about civility in general. Sorry if you felt coerced in any way to be civil. I will say that you same-brain Liberals are often friendly and civil to each other when you all agree on everything, and I'm often moved to wipe away a tear of jealous joy when I see it. Do you know if fruitflies are related to fireflies? Did you notice I tried your "underlining" technique? A little scary at first, but you're right, it really does enhance the point, and it feels oh so good.

Hey Signy, if you circle back this thread, take a good look at this. This fine, upstanding, honest person posted distorted and sarcastic remarks right at me. It hurts girl. My spirit is shaken. And even worse so, coming so soon after you and I had such a truly beautiful, almost harmonious moment of togetherness and understanding back there. I'll cop to sarcastic, but what, pray tell, was distorted?

Pretty clear series of events. You said you don't call names unprovoked, someone kindly proved that you JUST HAD, and you blithely moved on, ignoring it.

So, please, set me straight. Where was this so-called "distortion"? I wait with baited breath.

You can take the bait out of your breath. The distortion pertained to your saying that I was calling for civility & then mocking me for that call. I was not, and I discussed that with Signy right before you came into the fray. So that's what I considered distortion, not the part you thought, although I could say that no one responds to everything asked of them here, do they? Selective responses are common here. But no big. It's cool. Sarcasm is great. I live on it. We understand each other I believe, and co-existence is always preferable to the alternative.

I would have expected an increase of threats to this President just due to the harsh reality that there is still some racism out there. There's the KKK and the Arayan Nation, and tons of other groups like them. They're all over the country, like troops of prison-yard boy scouts with no hair and really bad teeth. They're all over the internet. I can only imagine how many hours the Secret Service spends reading through all that shit. Still, I don't believe the average run-of-the-mill racist is inclined to do violence. They're a sad lot, but not very dangerous. Obama's security must be a national priority, cost be damned. An action against him would have frightening consequences that cannot be calculated.

Oh, I do hope you're right. But I'd counter that by saying that I'm not sure how many of them think that far in advance. White-hot hate doesn't make for the best logic...and hey, Biden's white, that's all some of them would care about...

And what's that old saying, something about "it's impossible to protect someone completely when another is willing to die to harm them"? Brrrrr...

Yes, most racists aren't violent. But too many ARE, as has been proven over and over and over. When you de-humanize someone, it's that much easier to attack them physically. The uber-right has been doing their very best to utilize that one, and I've been fearful since he was nominated. Political disagreement is NOTHING compared to the mindless hate of racism when it's encouraged.

The most hateful of them immerse in the "racism lifestyle" and live on compounds in Idaho raising their little children to give the Heil Hitler salute, and every day is Nazi Halloween for them. We generally ignore these comical inbred Jerry Springer rejects, but with the tensions in this country already, there could be a greater danger brewing in the backwoods. In one of their demented leader's mind it could be imagined as The Big Play for them. Manson and other cult leaders have shown they have the ability to command their believers to do anything. President Biden might sound great to them.
