Failed Slovak airport security test ends up with explosives on plane, shocks aviation experts

A failed airport security test ended up with a Slovak man unwittingly carrying hidden explosives in his luggage on a flight to Dublin, Slovak officials admitted Wednesday — a mistake that enraged Irish authorities and shocked aviation experts worldwide.

While the Slovaks blamed the incident on "a silly and unprofessional mistake," Irish officials and security experts said it was foolish for the Slovaks to hide actual bomb parts in the luggage of innocent passengers under any circumstances.

The passenger himself was detained by Irish police for several hours before being let go without charge Tuesday.

The Irish were also angry that it took the Slovaks three days to tell them about the Saturday mistake and that the pilot of the airplane decided to fly to Dublin anyway even after being told that an explosive was in his aircraft's checked luggage.

You know it's gone to hell when it's the Irish who are pissed about someone smuggling a bomb on a plane... ;)

GINOBIFFARONI

I remember the same thing happening in Japan recently, when they put a bag of cocaine into somebodys luggage and the dogs missed it.

Not only did this person make it to their destination, the Japanese had to go public and offer a reward to get their stash back...

Not so funny if they flew into Vietnam or someplace where the drug laws are rather strict...

Either your with the terrorists, or ... your with the terrorists

No kidding - And in addition to testing their OWN security, they also seem to have exposed some flaws in the security systems in place in at least one Irish airport...

This is SOP for manufacturing "suicide bomber" patsies who buy round-trip tickets. A British woman boarded an airliner, and a bomb with altitude switch was detected in her luggage. Turned out her "Arab boyfriend" asked her to deliver a package. She knew nothing about it. Her "friend" was never arrested.

Explosive reached Ireland after failed test

A quantity of explosive, found in a flat on Dorset Street in Dublin this morning, was brought into Ireland following a failed security operation in Slovakia.

The explosive was one of eight pieces of contraband planted by the authorities in the luggage of unsuspecting passengers at Bratislava Airport in Slovakia last weekend as part of a test of security procedures.

Seven were detected by airport security, but the eighth - 90g of research development explosive or RDX - was put in the luggage of a Slovakian electrician who lives and works in Dublin.

RDX is used by Controlled Demolitions Inc to bomb 10,000 govt buildings. CDI got the $3B govt contract to "demolish" World Trade Center "after" 9/11.
