Obama's Approval Rating Hits New Low

CBS NEWS

CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.

Last week, President Obama signed historic health care reform legislation into law -- but his legislative success doesn't seem to have helped his image with the American public.

The latest CBS News Poll, conducted between March 29 and April 1, found Americans unhappier than ever with Mr. Obama's handling of health care - and still worried about the state of the economy.

President Obama's overall job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 44 percent, down five points from late March, just before the health bill's passage in the House of Representatives. It's down 24 points since his all-time high last April. Forty-one percent of those polled said they disapproved of the president's performance.

More results from this CBS News Poll will be released in Friday's broadcast of the Evening News with Katie Couric, which airs at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

When it comes to health care, the President's approval rating is even lower -- and is also a new all-time low. Only 34 percent approved, while 55 percent said they disapproved.

Americans are still worried about the economy, with 84 percent telling CBS they thought it was still in bad condition. However, even that high number represents an improvement: nine in ten thought the economy was bad during the last half of 2008 and at the beginning of 2009, when Mr. Obama assumed the Presidency.

Concern about job loss remains high; slightly more Americans now (35 percent) than in February (31 percent) were "very concerned" that someone in their household would lose a job. Nearly six in ten Americans said they were at least "somewhat concerned" about a job loss.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 31% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10 (see trends).

The number of Democrats and Republicans in the nation both increased over the past month during the debate over health care legislation.

The new student loan plan draws positive reviews from 35% of adults nationwide while 49% don’t like it.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove. To get a sense of longer-term trends, check out our month-by-month review of the President’s numbers.

For the full month of March, the President’s ratings slipped a point to match the lowest levels of his time in office.

Wow, if he'd only sink another 20 points or so, you'd love him as much as you did Bush!

Bush's approval numbers were astronomically higher than Commie Obama's are at this point in his so-called Presidency. In fact, Obama has the lowest numbers for a Pres. after 1 year in history. Obviously you want to distract from that reality.

Obama is a left-wing douche pushing his radical agenda on America. He sat in Rev Wright's Church Of Hate for 20 years where he listened to Black Liberation Theology, which is the Americanized version of Marxism, and includes re-distribution of wealth at its' core. Obama is a modern-day domestic terrorist just like his Chicago pal Bill Ayers. Except in these times, their methods have changed. They can't blow up buildings and kill people anymore, so they put on a suit, go into education and politics, all with the same goals as terrorist Bill Ayers, and racist reparations psychopath Rev Wright. Obama stayed in that ridiculous church not so much for anything to do with Jesus, but more to do with using that location as a place to start his climb up the smelly greasy pole that is Chicago politics. Obama is a blatant liar, he's a committed marxist, and his driving goal is to oversee the economic collapse of America for political purposes. But the absolute worst aspect of this son of a white trash slut is his complete lack of leadership for our country. Instead he is in perpetual campaign mode, attacking and mocking his political enemies at every turn. Instead of leading a united country, he seeks to create and ratchet up the divisiveness. That's what he's best at, being a little piece of shit crybaby asshole. It's disgustingly un-Presidential. He behaves like a little boy with a chip on his shoulder. He's petty and pathetic. But worse than that are his supporters; mindless naive fools that actually think he has something to say. People that are ready and willing to surrender their freedom and independence for the promises of this ego-maniacal charlatan. He'll be an easy sitting President to defeat in 2012, and he will go down in the history books as a Jimmy Carteresque abysmal failure. That is if his massive spending doesn't bankrupt the country first.

Gawd, I wish you'd stop repeating that ridiculous rant...along with that one-sentence crack to bring your topics to the top of the list again. Not that I think you will...

Okay, want something from Gallup, a REAL polling organization?
Quote:

These results are based on Gallup Daily tracking from March 22-24, the first measure conducted entirely after the House passed the healthcare reform bill on Sunday night. The passage of the legislation itself met with an initially positive public reaction.

Obama's approval rating has hovered around 50% since November, and was precisely 50% in the last three days of Gallup polling before the vote took place.

In the latest three-day rolling average, 83% of Democrats, 47% of independents, and 14% of Republicans approve of the job Obama is doing as president. Over the course of the prior week (March 15-21), the president averaged 81% approval among Democrats, 43% from independents, and 13% from Republicans.

It's all in the poll you choose, we've discussed that. And when; these represent 3/22-4/1

Average: Approve= +1.9

Individually: Approve/Disapprove
CBS News 44/41
Gallup 50/43
Rassmussen 56/43
MAIST 46/43
USA Today 47/50
CNN 51/48
Washington Post 53/43
Quinnipac 45/46

Take your pick. Polls mean nothing. Where is your cite, by the way? You didn't post it, and it differs from what I got for CBS

Yup, there's also recent polling that FauxNews put out under the the tagline "47% oppose Obamacare!" - of course, they completely glossed over the more than 50% polled who APPROVE of healthcare reform.
