Hello,

In a move that is sure to threaten support from Americans who don't like to see people insulted (or be insulted themselves), Palin has taken a controversial stand. She is siding with the soon to be ex-talk show host Dr. Laura in her besiegement by the forces of good conduct and professional etiquette.

When Doctor Laura announced departure from her radio show due to the fetters placed upon her by a radio station susceptible to the whims of advertisers and their customer base, Palin showed strong support.

“Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists,” Palin tweeted. “And b thankful 4 her voice,America!”

I am not sure what a Constitutional Obstructionist is, or how it relates to Doctor Laura's current dilemna. I'm also not sure how thankful I am for Doctor Laura. She seems rather antagonistic and offensive. What I am sure of is that Palin has taken a strange step and stance on this issue.

I agree. This is a real bone-headed move by Palin. There is no redemption here for Dr. Laura. She flagrantly used the N-word multiple times in direct and provacative defiance of societal civility, and her attempts at drawing moral equivalency with HBO comedy shows is not appropriate.

Palin must either not be aware, or perhaps she has forgiven Dr. Laura, but Dr. Laura has never been a fan of Sarah Palin. In fact, she has scathingly attacked Palin with similar language used by Palin's real foes, the Progressive Elitists. Sometimes I wish Sarah would take a deep breath before she hits the "send" button on her tweets and posts. But she won't, it's not her style.

As for Dr. Laura, I think she's been an idiot for decades. She does nothing to advance the Conservative causes I believe in, and she has enough money to live well the rest of her life. So bye-bye!

I also find it odd. And I found it confounding that Dr. Laura spent basically her whole show the next day apologizing profusely and "sincerely" - and then she announces she's quitting, so that she can *finally* speak her mind and say what she REALLY feels.

Coming after her long N-word rant, I shudder to think what her *REAL* feelings are, and what it is that she HASN'T been allowed to say.

Look, Palin blew it on this one. In her rushed attempt to make this into a freedom of speech issue, she forgot that the airwaves are public, and they're regulated. Dr. Laura cannot and should not be on the air, period. I agree with Palin about censorship in general, but in this case the issue is not censorship, it's sensitivity. And that's the real disturbing part for me. Palin is out there opposing the 9/11 mosque, and asking the Muslims there to show sensitivity and understanding of the pain people feel about the location. But she doesn't seem to see she is contradicting her sensitivity position by encouraging Dr. Laura to continue using the N-word. We have enough problems with race in this country without this nonsense.

Dr. Laura can get a gig on satellite radio like Howie Stern did. Then she can say N-word N-word N-word all day long if she wants to.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

It was a bonehead move, and it's funnier than hell in a couple of ways. For one thing, Schlessenger DID rake Palin over the coals when she was nominated:

The other amusing aspect, to me, is Schlessinger going on and on about her First Amendment right to free speech. Yes, the airwaves are public, but they are PAID FOR by advertisers and sponsors; if those people are bothered, they have just as much right to pull their support, and that's what happened to Schlessinger. She even referred to it in her whining, saying something along the lines of how she used to be able to speak her mind, but now it seems

It's assinine (I hope that doesn't offend any donkeys...); dunno if Palin forgot what Schlessinger said about her and what she thinks of people using the N-word, or thinks everyone ELSE has forgotten, but this time her use of something to shoot her mouth off about for political reasons backfired on her.

Free speech rights are more about you being imprisoned for your words. They don't mean you can't be made to suffer financially for your words. If I go to work and start calling all my customers a bunch of fucking morons to their faces, I expect I'll lose my job. If I start calling the black customers the N-word, I expect I'll lose my job.

I don't expect the government will imprison me for such "free speech".
