I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I realize that I have become an increasingly angry poster here. It doesn't change any minds, it certainly doesn't help my blood pressure, and it definitely doesn't do any good.

For those who I have offended, I apologize. Time for a vacation from the board.

Oh damn, Sig, I wish you wouldn't. You have a LOT of valid stuff to say and keep this place lively. Yes, I've noticed you're being somewhat "drawn into the gutter", but who hasn't been? It's kind of natural, as I see it...if one receives so much antagonism and nastiness long enough, there isn't a vow in the world which will keep them from eventually fighting back. So what?

On the other hand, yes, it's not healthy for YOU to have those feelings, so I certainly undersatnd you wanting to get away from a place which enables them...hell, makes them damned hard to fight AGAINST! I'll just miss you awfully...I hope it's a short vacation.

Just remember; anyone who can't take the heat doesn't belong in RWED, and I KNOW you can take the heat. What you give back is up to you, but I have no problem with your posting style at all. The only way it bothers me at ALL is that you and Mike only hurt yourselves by letting 'em get to you.

Who's letting 'em "get to" me?

I poke Rappy to watch him twitch, because it's mildly amusing watching his contortions as he tries to fit his distorted, warped little worldview into his tiny little narrow mind while others keep trying to pry his eyes open to reality.

I poke DT now and again, just to get him to think a bit more.

Mostly, I just like asking the uncomfortable questions, the ones that people don't even think of in their comfortable little boxes, where they think they have it all figured out.

But there's not a single poster here who has the ability to "get to" me. Sometimes life throws me things that take up my time (like a computer at work that is quite literally slower than my old dial-up connection, despite supposedly being hooked to a high-speed internet connection), but nothing that "gets to" me.

I know my exact place in the universe, and I'm pretty good with it. I always figured you were the same way, Signy. Hopefully you will be again.

Its true that this is a very combative place, and does not bring out the best in us. Take a vacation in a a friendly place, and y'all come back, we'll still be here. Prolly still be fighting.

I was like, "Bye, RWED. I'm leaving."

And then, crickets.

Sig, I've been wanting to ask you if you've been doing all right because I've noticed you fighting with people you normally don't, but I held back because I thought that would be unwelcome, or seen as insincere.

Perhaps I should have, and then you wouldn't feel pushed as far as I imagine you've felt pushed.

In any case, when it comes to feeling like that, feeling backed into a corner and everyone against you, sometimes taking a break is all you can do. You have to take that time for yourself.

And I hope that when you come back, the board won't feel so negative.

CTS, if I'd seen a "bye" post by you, I'd DEFINITELY have responded. Yours is a vital voice here, one I wouldn't want to lose for even a short time, either. I didn't see it, but I'm real glad you're back. I often note when someone posts who I haven't seen for a while--I imagine wrongly sometimes because I just missed their posts--but I wouldn't want to lose ANY of you guys, with a few obvious exceptions.

I fully understand anyone needing to get away from here; I'm much happier now that I come for briefer periods of time and sometimes don't come for a few days. That's my answer to the problem, and it's working for me. I find I have better perspective as to which threads are even worth attention, and it's much easier to pull away and not get trapped into an absurd argument. That's an improvement over how it was for me before. Too much time here and too often makes me lose perspective and feel responding or making points is more important than it is.

Mike, by "get to you" I meant that you are willing to get down and dirty with them, that's all. Wrong choice of words: my bad. I know that, like me, they can't really get to you, I just find it a shame when you post some of the things you do. That's probably because I'd like to believe we sane people won't stoop to their level, so it's only MY "stuff", has nothing to do with you per se. 'Kay?

I like both CTS and Signe. Everyone needs breaks sometimes. CTS I would miss seeing ya if you disappeared. I don't agree with everything that either Signe or CTS say, but I find truth in things that they write. The bottom line is that none of us are going to agree on everything, it would be kind of weird if we did.
