You know, no ONE person speaks for an entire group. We all get that. But when it's been shown, time and time again, how members of the Left and centre ALL repeat the same thing, over and over again, a clearer and clearer image emerges. It stops being mere isolated incidents and random comments, and more valid.

I get why some would not like to admit it, but in the face of overwhelming facts and evidence, it's beyond a moot point.

You really do look silly in trying to deny it.

Oxymoron. Clearly, you have no idea of who "the left" is or what they stand for, or you would have never made such a ridiculous jumble of words. BTW, I consider myself to be a leftist (not a liberal- two different things) and I've never considered Obama to be anything like a lord and savior, and I didn't even vote for him.

1) So please, for the love of god, stop talking about "the left". You clearly have NO IDEA who you're talking about, and

2) Don't say "never", "always", "everybody (all)", or "nobody" unless you can show there aren't any exceptions. That's black-and-white thinking, and the world just isn't black and white for the most part.

Perhaps you don't know the meaning of the word "left" (as in political stance), or the word "corporate", or the word "oxymoron"*. So let me help you out:

Oxymoron is a figure of speech in which incongruous or seemingly contradictory terms appear side by side. In this case, the terms are corporate and left.

The left in political economic terms, occupies the landscape between anti-corporate and Marxist. Corporate is the intended target of the left. Therefore, any combination of those terms automatically becomes an oxymoron.

There is ANOTHER political stance that occupies that ground that you're thinking of, it's called liberalism. Liberals want to ameliorate capitalism because they want capitalism to survive. Like leftists, they believe that capitalism will destroy itself if left to its own devices, therefore wealth redistribution, unemployment, and other other aspects of the social safety net are mere devices to allow capitalism to continue. So it's possible to be a liberal corporatist, but not a leftist corporatist. Capisce?

So maybe, when you talk about "the left" you will do so a little more intelligently in the future.

What's truly amazing is that Storybook is so damn oblivious of this ENTIRE THREAD , where I cite multiple example of the Left claiming Obama is divine, and yes, I DO claim I did ( that's what this thread if all about in the first place ) he's so damn cross eyed with hate and stubborn phony pride , he simply can't come to grips that I'm right and he knows it.

So, no...he doesn't have anything going on besides obsessing over me. I'm living totally rent free in his head, as well as a few others here. And trust me, there's PLENTY of empty, wide open spaces. ROFLMAO !!

HILLARY CLINTON RECEIVING BLESSING FROM A SHAMAN

This picture is truly worth 1,000 words. Here, we see Hillary being "blessed" by a Native American shaman, giving her a traditional American blessing. Native American spirituality is quite the rage these days, as you can see for yourself by going into a New Age bookstore, where you will find so many books touting their old religion. The reason New Agers and witches of all stripes are really "into" Native American spirituality is that the Native Indians practiced an Earth Mother worship very close to our current New Age. In fact, Native Americans are held up continuously as supreme examples of an entire nation "living close to Nature", in "perfect harmony and balance". Hillary would have had no trouble allowing a Native American shaman bless her and pray over her.

"individuals saying isolated things, which you pretend represent the entire left." It will always be that way. I've posted at least as many instances of people on the right, from Bush to Senators to potential presidential candidates, who have been seen as a "messiah" by various people on the right, but that will never mean anything to Rap. Why keep at it? He will keep right up with his "AGW is a cult", "Bush never lied", "there were WMD" and "The Left thinks Obama is God" for ever and ever, no matter what. It's what he DOES. Why engage him?

"giving her a traditional American blessing". Not surprisingly, Rap doesn't understand the difference between a "blessing" and "being anointed". Who's surprised?

Well being President of the United States is a real as it gets, and has about the most responsibility of any job on the planet.

As for a fraud, he got elected by a majority of the voters in the US and has accomplished things in office that few other Presidents have. He is about as real as it gets.

It's all religious hocus pocus anyways. But it's only an issue for you if anyone on the right does it, while it's perfectly fine when it happens to someone on the Left.

wacko.

Oh,and Niki ? Those folks who claim W was some sort of god send, they were themselves religious zealots. If it rains after a brief dry spell, they'll praise god. It's not in the least surprising they'd think a victory for their side is 'divine', but only because it means the country won't go down the drain, as we're seeing happen w/ Obama.

However, same can't be said for Barbara Walters, etc... They're not religious to any great extent, they just want to worship their fine, neat and articulate Marxist. It really is totally different. As I've plainly shown in this thread.

Rappy yet again serves as an example of the flawed thinking process of the RWA brain. His "logical" process:

Step 1 Start with the CONCLUSION: liberals worship Obama.

Step 2 Consider the EVIDENCE: all observations that agree with the statement step 1 are accepted. All which do not are dismissed as incorrect or inapplicable or outliers.

Step 3 ERGO, all evidence supports the conclusion and therefore the conclusion is upheld.

Funny how this process always makes him think he's right, huh? Gods bless him, he is entertaining. ;)

I would dare Rap to show proof of that, only I know he wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole, it might require ACTUAL, you know, debate, with facts and stuff. Just as I know he wouldn't be caught DEAD taking up Sig's dare to "provide a brief summary of Marxism right here, and then quote Obama referencing Marxism."

By the way, nobody seems to have noticed, but Rap has now EXPANDED his claim of who views Obama as a "God":
Quote:

But when it's been shown, time and time again, how members of the Left and centre ALL repeat the same thing, over and over again.

We really need to save that one: MEMBERS OF THE LEFT AND CENTER ALL REPEAT THE SAME THING. How much clearer can he get? How much more do you want to go on wasting your time trying to "reason" with him?

Until and unless Rap shows one IOTA of willingness to address all the people on the right who have referred to various right-wing politicians as "god" or "messiah" or "Jesus"--which he never, ever will, he will always dismiss each of them as an "individual", or a religious nutcase, or anything else he can come up with which means "they don't count"--and given the idiocy he's spouted, why does anyone continue to bother?

This entire concept is the height of ridiculousness. There will always be those out there who view someone they admire greatly as "more than human". People on the left have done it, people on the right have done it, and none of them speak for The Left or The Right. They speak for themselves--tho' it's obviously impossible for Rap to grasp, EVEN when they say "we". End of story.

MAL4: Indeed. I hope to break that cycle by making rappy aware that he cherry-picks his facts (STEP 2) incessantly. However, so far he hasn't had the mental capacity to figure that out.

Appearing on Sunday night's Soul Train awards in Las Vegas, Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx called Barack Obama "our lord and savior."

I think this just demonstrates how religious discourse has infiltrated US politics. Not that Jamie Foxx is a politican, but the whole discussion around politics is seeped with religious references.

I say this coming from a very secular society, where religion is not evoked in political discussions. But I see that it happens quite a lot in the US. It's either thanking god, evoking god or comparing someone to god.

And the whole presidential thing. It kind of lends itself to that, don't you think. The whole pomp and power of that role. if you didn't feel divinely inspired before you got there, youd have a hell of a time NOT feeling like some sort of messiah.

No, as his most recent post [ETA: one before the most recent since I started composing this, which is now two back] proves, that ain't the case. Any real human would note that every single damned poster on this board who might possibly lean left or liberal has criticized O, sometimes even in a blistering way. No one on this board has EVER stated anything like worship for Obama. (Counter this with the way RWAs talked of W when he was in office...)

And yet the Rap posts what he just did?

No simple denial wall in the brain can accomplish such a feat of delusion. There's no possible way. "Rap" exists on this board solely to get reactions, and he gets the reactions by posting obviously wrong BS. How can anyone resist reacting to someone who claims that 2 + 2 = 5? This is what the "Rap" does, what he's done for years. Somehow, it continues to get him the attention he craves.

It's illuminating that it consistently gets him reactions from certain posters who ought to know better.

I wonder what would happen if this site ever limited every IP address to only one account. Oh, it might be hard on *many* posters...

IT'S SO WIDELY KNOWN AND UNDERSTOOD, THAT EVERYONE KNOWS IT ! That's why Jamie can make fun of it !

And to answer your questions, yes. A Marxist WOULD do those things, knowing his " fundamental transformation " couldn't be done over night, and would take 10-20 years. He said exactly that about destroying our Healthcare, and eventually going to full govt control This is only the 1st step. It's designed to fail, and Obama has known this all along. That's why he blatantly lied about " if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, period. ". ( I swear, if the writers of Dr Who wanted to , they could needle the hell out of Obama with that line. But they won't. )

Going to google and picking up one phrase won't help you pretend to understand Marxism. Try again.

But OOC, looking at historical examples, when have you seen socialism take the evolutionary approach? Russia? Cuba? Venezuela?

Seriously, child, do you really think you're convincing anyone (other than yourself) with this pastiche of Limbaugh and wiki? May I repeat that, as a representative of your viewpoint, you suck?

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

"He's a troll. A right wing caricature, more interested in making it about himself than actual discussion." Yeah, I keep getting trapped into viewing him as a person, particularly because he can come across LIKE real human being, on things outside politics. But then I get reminded…he's not here to discuss, he NEVER "discusses", he just makes statements…the crazier the better…and sticks to them like glue.

There's a very simple response to his "overwhelming evidence" bit, which of course will go nowhere. How many examples could we so easily put up of Republicans--including politicians, pundits and GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, who have claimed creationism should be viewed as valid…that homosexuality is connected to bestiality…that slavery was good for Blacks…think of all the absurd statements SOME people on the right have made from time to time. By his "logic", that should prove ALL conservatives, ALL on The Right, believe these things. Simple as that. Yet we all know it doesn't, we all know it's a small number of misguided people who believe those things. But no logic will ever reach Rap; as long as people keep responding to him, it's all he wants.

"How can anyone resist reacting to someone who claims that 2 + 2 = 5?"--That's the crux of it for me, Mal4. When I see the sheer insanity he writes, my instinct is always to say "no, wait a minute, you can't really mean THAT! See…" and I'm lost. It's extremely hard to keep reminding myself that responding is totally useless.

Everywhere else I am on the internet, people want to converse. They want to communicate, to share ideas, inform, be informed, enjoy one another's company and yes, definitely agree/disagree/debate/argue as WELL, but not exclusively. It's very hard to make the switch to this place, where some people's ONLY purpose for being here is to spew political bullshit, defend that political bullshit no matter how little sense it makes, and trigger other people into responding, with absolutely no desire to actually communicate.

Quote:

You make an excellent point, too, Magons; one I forget because the only politics I see/hear/read for the most part is America's. But when I step back and look at it/think about it, your point is quite valid. We have a problem with religion in this country, no question about it.

Yanno, AFA religion seeping 100% into politics, there is one phrase that drives me nuts bc it is found at the end of nearly every political speech: "And, God bless America".

Like "god" would really give shite about some pompous, blasphemous, nation-state-cum-empire. It's kinda like... yanno... asking god to give your football team the big win or something. Less meaningful than Dear god, PLEASE help me pass this turd! Sheesh.

Yes, I have, but not by you. The evidence I've seen is Obama's actions, and they aren't the actions of a leftist or Marxist by any means. If I had to pick a political economic camp for Obama it would be... well, since you know this all so well, I'll leave it to you to figure out.

And BTW, you STILL suck at representing "your side". Maybe you should get someone else in here to represent you.

WTF? Lots of ppl talk about fundamentally transforming society. But not Marxists. They talk about revolution. And, as far as I can tell, Obama has not fundamentally transformed anything, at least not in a socialist direction. The banks control more money than before, the corporations dominate politics more than ever, people are poorer than before. So, where's the socialism/ Marxism that you keep whining about? Like I said before, as far as I can tell, Obama falls into the camp of... well, but you know this all anyway, so (from your vast store of knowledge) what do you suppose a leftist might say?

He then goes on the quote a comedian Jamie Foxx, Baba Wawa, and Newsweek to bolster his claim about the Left but ... after dozens of posts and a few thousand views... goes on to demonstrate over and over again that he doesn't know what "the left" is or how "the left" actually views Obama or what "the left" says about him. In other words, he knows nothing about what he posted about. As usual. This thread deserves to die. Can someone blow taps?
