American voters were quizzed on their knowledge of issues and facts raised in the 2010 midterm elections, in a survey by World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.

Respondents were also asked where they get their news from: Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, newspapers, network TV news, public broadcasting.

The survey found that "substantial levels of misinformation were present in the daily consumers of all news sources." But Fox News viewers were significantly more likely to be misinformed than those who get their news from other sources. And, greater exposure to Fox News increased the degree to which viewers were misinformed. Quiz at http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2010/1221/Are-you-smarter-than-a-Fox-News

If anyone bothers, I'd be curious to know their score. I got nine right out of eleven, and my bet is that Rap would fail miserably--either that or claim the quiz is wrong. A liberal conspiracy, no doubt.

NEWOLDBROWNCOAT

I got 8 right out of 11.

I get my news from the internet, mostly CNN.com, and the Yahoo news editorials page. I don't watch ANY TV news, and don't read a newspaper much right now, but I do listen to the news radio when I drive the car, mostly for traffic reports, but they do slip some real news in there.
And I haven't ever commented on this , but the Christian Science Monitor does have a long-standing rep as being reliable on world/ international/ foreign news. I miss YAhoo no longer carrying them on their Opinion page.

Missed :

Select to view spoiler:

1.effect of Obamacare on the deficit- I thought it would net increase the deficit, but that was still a desirable outcome.

2. Did the Chamber of Commerce spend foreign money on the 2012 elections? I had never heard of that story in any media, and I wouldn't have put it past those Sons of Bitches, but they say it's not true.

3. Obama and troop level in Afghanistan- I thought it was about the same, but they say he has increased it. I guess maybe the draw-down in Iraq and the expansion in Afhghan did happen on Obama's watch.

Never claimed to know it ALL, myself, and I did learn some from the quiz.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

11/11, not bad for a Brit.

Auraptor's head would explode if he went through this quiz. Safe to say he won't.

It's not personal. It's just war.

Hello,

I got the exact same results as NewOld.

But I don't know the answer to the titular question.

10/11 - However I dispute number 7, firmly so.

While the evidence is not overwhelmingly massive and unassailable, there *IS* sufficient to justify further investigation, which nobody did.
When you have evidence pointing to something, and then purposely fail to investigate, you CANNOT say with any confidence that the something is untrue.

That's what I was thinking, too.

Well, then, I got 10 out of 11, because I "missed" #7 too, and at the time questioned it. I missed the auto bailout thing; I couldn't remember, so guessed. So I guess as an MSNBC viewer, I'm only SOMEWHAT ignorant (tho' since I get my news from so many sources and only get ideas of things to look up and see if they're accurate from MSNBC, maybe I can be forgiven).

Yes, I think Rap's head would explode...tho' more likely, as I said he'd say it was a liberal conspiracy. I note he hasn't popped in to say anything about it...are we taking bets he never will?

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.
