Phil Mickelson, the pro golfer.

He's in the news-- he said he was gonna move out of California because taxes here are tooo high. Lotta Repubs are quoting him and saying, " I told you so!"

Except he started getting publicity about it, and he said that wasn't what he meant.

Dude made $ 47 MILLION last year. Poor boy-- he's gonna have to sleep at the Rescue Mission and eat his meals at the Homeless Shelter, right? Yeah, I thought so....

Who do I have to kill, and how many of 'em, just to get his TAX BILL as MY INCOME? Line 'em up, I'm ready.

Meanwhile PHill, boy, don't let the door hit ya in the pigu on yer way out. Write us from Minnesota when ya get work. May all yer shots shank and divot. I hope you see every beach, river and swamp on the tour .

NewOld, just visitin', courtesy of my local ( California tax funded) public library. See ya again sometime soon.

It was exactly what he MEANT. Only he said he shouldn't have gone public w/ his views on the matter.

Why anyone should feel the need to apologize for wanting to keep more of their $, especially when they don't have to, is what's so terrible here.

You should't have to KILL anyone. Just learn how to play golf as good or better than he does, and you're set.

He MADE that much, and yes Barry, he DID build that, by himself.

Tiger Woods left California almost 20 years ago, ( 1996 ) for Florida, for the exact same reason.

Phil Mickelson is no dummy. He's got a beautiful wife and two lovely daughters to take care of. He caved in to corporate sponsors and PGA Tour pressure and issued a pre-apology apology where absolutely none was necessary. The PGA does not like controversy of any kind. Golf is both a precise sport and a serene one. That is the attraction of it. Political statements of any sort are not welocme. Phil makes 5 million actually playing golf, the other 50 million comes from sponsor endorsements. Anyone in his shoes would have done the same. Most pro golfers do live in Florida because there's zero state income tax, as opposed to Calif's 13% state tax. He just did the math.

While it's well known in golf that Phil's nice guy image is just that, it still doesn't detract from the fact that he's getting reamed for living in CA, where as he could keep far more of HIS money by merely moving to a state like FL, TN or TX.

So if someone offered to pay you $47 million a year to play golf and endorse products, because you worked hard enough for years to perfect your game that you were in the elite rank of the sport, you'd turn them down? And you wouldn't want to keep as much of what you earned as you could?

Well, that's your choice. Phil's is his.

Here's some of his other choices.

Phil Mickelson's Charities

Birdies for the Brave
A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is the PGA TOURâ??s primary vehicle for supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Since 2005, the TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players, corporate partners, TPC club members, fans and TOUR employees to raise millions of dollars for military home front groups that provide vital services and programs for military men and women and their families.

Homes for Our Troops Inc.
We are Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2004. We are strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries since September 11, 2001. It is our duty and our honor to assist severely injured Servicemen and Servicewomen and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and to coordinate the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy
You learn a lot of cool stuff from your teachers everyday. But where do teachers go to learn more about stuff like math and science? Some teachers get to go to the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy. The Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy is a cool summer camp just for teachers! At the Academy, teachers do lots of fun math and science experiments to share with you in the classroom. The experiments seem like games, but really they help everyone learn about math and science! The Academy was started by pro golfer Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy. They worked with ExxonMobil to create a special learning environment for teachers. They are joined by math and science experts from the National Science Teachers Association and Math Solutions who teach the teachers at the Academy. They come up with fun ways to learn math and science while playing with balloons, rocket cars and marbles. Anything is possible in math and science!

Phil and Amy Mickelson Charitable Foundation

Special Operations Warrior Foundation

I have no doubt that Phil will move out of California. He will do it quietly and without any fanfare. Liberals hate rich people, with the exception of rich people who are liberal. Them they love.
