Fav Bush self-portrait of Yale Skull & Boner roommate Victor "Victoria" Ashe

Hacked emails now leaked to the press of Bush family members and friends reveal a series of correspondence concerned about the hospitalization of the elder Bush, arrangements for family gatherings and events, as well as photos of Bush the Younger painting… and sitting around in a bathtub sketching his feet, then his reflection while standing in the shower.

The hacker left his watermark “Guccifer” on the leaked photos, but not the sketches, and is reportedly now under investigation by the Secret Service. But it offers a little seen glimpse at the 43rd president.

These sketches and photos suggest that he spends a lot of time reflecting and, perhaps, stewing in his own juices:

Former presidents LBJ and Nixon both sunk into deep depressions after they left office, sunken, perhaps, by a combination of leaving the busy public life and its frequent and serious stimuli, as well as the pressure of guilt, regret and other emotions over their roles in some of the most controversial and unscrupulous presidential actions, to which the public reacted with strong disapproval.

LBJ had JFK, the Gulf of Tonkin and the Vietnam conflict. Nixon too shared Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, and of course, had Watergate. Bush had 9/11, the phony WMDs, the PATRIOT Act, torture and the shameful War on Terror.

Has Bush’s legacy — along with widespread public hatred, ridicule and calls for impeachment and arrest — left him depressed?

Reports circulated in 2004 claiming that then President 43 was taking “powerful anti-depressant drugs to control his erratic behavior, depression and paranoia.” Speculation about the president’s depression and coping mechanisms continued through the end of his second term.

Lyndon Baines Johnson, a thoroughly corrupt Texas politician, gained office through his assassination of JFK, and held office during the high profile assassinations of MLK and RFK, when Johnson stunned political observers and declined to run for re-election. He died four years, almost to the day, after leaving office, reportedly after suffering from severe depression. Lawyer and close LBJ associate Barr McClellan wrote the 2003 book Blood, Money & Power, which implicated LBJ in the Kennedy assassination, and reported on his swift decline after office:

“He was exhausted. The emotions of paranoia and depression left him weakened. The decision was spur of the moment. He instantly regretted it. Clark did not know and never forgave him. By 1968, Johnson was a broken man and could take no more.”

Nixon’s resignation after the pressure from the Watergate scandal threatened impeachment, was bitter and reluctant, much like his narrow loss to Kennedy in the 1960 presidential race and subsequent embarrassing defeat to Pat Brown for California governor in 1962, after which he bitterly told the press, “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore.”

Nixon after Watergate was reportedly paranoid, reclusive, unhinged and depressed. He took frequent long walks on the beach, rarely meeting with the press or public eye, and used his Phlebitis illness to avoid subpoenas to testify in trials for his former cabinet officials after being formally pardoned by Gerald Ford.

Bush 43 swiftly left the limelight, with the celebrity and precedent of Obama, the first black president, taking over the media focus with deafening thunder, effectively giving the first presidential dynastic successor since John Quincy Adams (the 6th president), a clean get away from public scrutiny and frequent criticism.

The Bush political family is solidly rooted in Skull & Bones, and the skullduggery of East Coast blue bloods. His grandfather Prescott Bush worked in Wall Street banking for railroad heir and fellow bonesman Averill Harriman and played a prominent role in financing the Nazis before becoming Senator. His father, George H.W. Bush, worked the oil business before entering politics, while rising to power through his ties to the covert intelligence networks Skull & Bones had used to found the CIA, which Bush 41 would head in the mid-1970s. Previous Bushes were involved in WWI munitions profiteering and Rockefeller oil interests, and the dynasty is overall deeply tied to the shadow network that has hijacked the country.

George W. Bush, like LBJ and Nixon, was thoroughly complicit in the crimes of his administration, yet was also overwhelmed, chewed up and spit out by the shadow government system that used these puppet presidents to incrementally siphon off the Constitutional powers and protections through a long train of abuses. These used-vessels are left behind to carry the blame, scorn and weight of a dark, looming legacy that has undone the country. History is filled with such men, who did anything to gain power, but felt the stinging poison of their own medicine in decline.

Bush was a byproduct of the post-Reagan Republican implosion. Nothing but shitty hopelessly dim-witted and dull candidates. A pathetically inept and un-inspiring list of moderate milktoast douchebags for 20 years:

George HW Bush...(Lost to Clinton)
Bob Dole...............(Lost to Clinton)
George W Bush
John McCain......(Lost to Obama)
Mitt Romney......(Lost to Obama)

Not one true Conservative among them. Not one articulate and charismatic leader among them. Not one smart and tough campaigner among them. Just a bunch of recycled political hacks. It all starts again in 2014. Has the RNC called Warren Harding yet?

I think there's a big gulf between his actual performance as Prez, and the legend that has been build around him since. Between the tax increases, expansion of government, and the massive balooning of the deficit - that he would be counted as one of the bad ones by actual conservatives.

And that's not even touching on his actually losing his mind in office...

Eisenhower was a much better President than he is generally given credit for. A true military hero with humble roots, not a smarmy lawyer/politician. Today there are no Ikes, and I doubt we'll ever see one again.

You do realize that Ike was in large part responsible for that huge massive buildup of the influence of the military-industrial complex, right? It's kind of like a serial killer telling you the streets aren't safe after dark.

Reagan was a piece of shit who should have been shot. His policies have pretty much all been proven failures.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that HW, Dole, McCain or Romney weren't "smart". I never thought for a second that W was dumb either, no matter how many SNL jokes were made about it.

They also might not have been bad campaigners either, had they not just been "puppet-plants" by the GOP fixture (which, lets be honest is largely made up of a bunch of rich white people). They were not, for a single second in their campaign, in control of their own "destiny". The same can be said equally for the Democrats as well. If you rewound time 20 years and Obama was running then, he would have gotten about as much of the popular vote as any 3rd rate-3rd party candidate, especially since he was black.

That's kind of my point here... Even if Obama were white 20 years ago, on his platform he would have likely beaten out the Green Party, but there wouldn't have been a chance in hell that he would have gotten in. Everything going on in the world today made him our president. (Justified) Fear that things might get worse if people voted for the other side made him our President for the second time.

In popular culture, particularly movies and video games, we see this mentality all the time. How many Saw movies will be made before people are so desensitized to that vile shit that they won't keep feeding the machine enough money to make another one every Halloween? (Or for that matter... why on earth was there two "Hollywood" sequels to Paranormal Activity or Clerks..... Both movies were AWESOME on their own, but not only did the sequels feel forced, but they actually detracted from the brilliance of the originals. Even a top-shelf Hollywood flick like the Matrix suffered from that. I wish I'd never even seen the two sequels because in the back of my mind I view the trilogy as a whole and it's about a 5/10 rating for me now when the original movie was at the very least a 9.5/10.

I haven't owned a current-gen Gaming rig for nearly a decade, but I read my brother's EGM magazine on the crapper..... Sports games seem to be the most egregious offenders here, although yearly expected shooter franchises are becoming a close second. Why would people buy a new Madden or NBA title year after year if all they're going to do is "go through the motions" and not invent anything new that's worthwhile to keep people vested?

In the end, I do feel somewhat bad for Obama. I don't think he knew what he was getting himself into. I honestly don't believe that just because he was another crooked politician from the most crooked county in the most crooked state in America that he is an evil man.

Look how physically ill Clinton looked 8 years later compared to his original photo shoot. If Obama were lilly-white like Clinton, you'd probably notice the red on his honker too.

I'm sure the "power" of the position makes up for everything else in a lot of ways. At the end of the day though, even though he makes 20 times more than most of us at least and gets free helicopter rides to Broadway shows for his family, he ain't made close to what Lindsay Lohan did so far, and not only has he exposed himself to public opinion, but those poor girls they raise will have lived most of their pre-to-late teen lives not even comprehending what "privacy" is...

All I can speak about Reagan is my own personal experience. I was just a dumb kid back then and politics were the furthest thing from my mind.

We didn't live in a mansion... far from it. My modest house today is easily 700 sq feet more than the house my brothers and I lived in and shared a bedroom with bunks and a pull out bed that was less than half the size of my master bedroom. We watched our cousins in awe while opening up present after present of nearly the full line of new He-Man toys at Christmas while we got only one or two presents ourselves. At the same time, we never went without food. We never went without the best medical care America had to offer when it was necessary. I never once thought we were "poor" while growing up.

Reading history, I realize that this wasn't the case for a lot of people, just as it isn't the case for a lot of people today.

The difference is, late in the Reagan administration, and for years afterward, you could go on vacation to any country in the world for a song and nearly any native would bend over backwards to make you happy for an "American tip".

Today, of all the countries that even matter anymore, the US dollar is losing. All of that "buying power" has been spent.

The "Reagan Vacation" is over....

In the mean time, we've sent all of our metal (not just precious, but necessary) to China.... and in return we've gotten cheap plastic shit and weekly 70% off Kohl's sales that have ensured that the price of a cheap pair of khakis hasn't risen i 15 years in return since Clinton busted the dam and let it happen.

In these times, I look back to what Benjamin Franklin said.....

"A Penny Saved, is a Penny Earned."....

Never more true for Americans than it is today.

Look at your common penny....

The new ones have cool new designs and are really shiny, aren't they?????

They also happen to weigh a lot less since Zinc is lighter than copper. Where it takes only 145 95% copper pennies to make a pound, it takes 181 of the newer pennies to do so. (The fact that recent "reimaginings" of the designs of pennies weigh the same amount as other pennies that copied pre-1983 pennies is actually a mystery to me since they just seem so much lighter).

Personally, I don't have any pennies from pre-1857, so none of them are 100% copper, but I do have a rather large stock-pile of pennies pre-dating 1983. Those are officially recognized as being 95% copper. Today, pennies are 97.5% zinc and only 2.5% copper. There's a reason for that.... Zinc makes shitty water supply lines.

I've got about enough pennies saved up to put new copper pipes in every home on my block. Above that physical attribute, they're also worth well more than 1 cent a piece. In 2006 it was made a law that you couldn't melt currency down, but really... who's watching? Throw a billion pennies in the fire with 100,000 feet of 12 gauge copper wire and nobody would legally know the difference.

If you're smart though, and you don't NEED the money now, you'll keep them in their US minted form. If we ever get so bad where a "bartering" system takes over, an official US minted coin proves the 95% pure copper rating. Otherwise, you're just handing somebody a huge melted hunk of metal.

We all missed the "Silver" boat, if you weren't saving them since back when I was a kid and before....

In the last 8 years I've been saving and examining change, I've only saved about 20 silver dimes, 2 half-dollars and 5 quarters. There non-existant now. Don't even bother....

But pennies.... It's rather easy if you just save a bunch of them and when you're bored and watching TV one day to save the real copper ones. You don't have to read dates like I did at first....

All you need is a folding table in front of your couch and two RAGU jars.

Bounce the penny on the table, flat. Words can't explain the difference in tone, but if you bounce a few pre-1983 pennies and a few post 1983 pennies you'll have no trouble distinguishing the tone.

Put the "shit" ones in one RAGU jar to take to the bank for a deposit. Keep the rest.....

Honestly, how much does even 10 dollars of pennies cost you personally if you're not planning on spending them?

145 pennies weigh a pound. 95% of 145 = 137.75

Every 157 pennies pre-1983 you save is guaranteed to be one pound of pure copper if you don't melt them.

That's the real lesson here.......

Pre 1982 Pennies still in circulation are worth much more than face value. When all metal currency is abandoned, their intrinsic value will only increase.

If things ever get REALLY bad, I'll be happy with the 3 things I have an abundance of...

1) Hidden jars of pre-1982 pennies.

2) A stockpile of water.

3) A stockpile of next-to-non-parisable food. (Wish I had the money for cases of military grade MREs)

4) A gun and ammo to make sure that they stay in the owner's hands.

Don't worry that it's not Gold or Silver you don't have.....

Honestly, Gold won't won't be worth two shits if you're living in a post-apocalyptic society. Aside from looking pretty, it doesn't really serve a purpose in most applications today, especially in a fringe world. If you do have the money to hoard a more expensive metal, go with the much cheaper Silver. It has MANY practical uses.

Copper though, although it's much more abundant, has many practical daily uses and will ALWAYS be worth something.

Even to this day, we all still take it for granted, but what about tomorrow??????

And there's the meat of the matter - Rappy can only see the world in an all-or-nothing view. If I joke that Hitler was a better painter than Dubya (and technically, objectively, he was), Rappy says that means I'm a big Hitler fan. And if I say I'm not a huge fan of Hitler's art, Rappy says that means I've never seen a single piece of his work.

I can have seen his paintings and not been overly impressed, you know. There IS a middle ground. He had a decent grasp of perspective - artistically speaking, not in the overall grand scheme of things, about which the man had little perspective at all - and a moderate amount of technical artistic talent, but his work was a bit cold and flat, devoid of character.

So you admit I'm right after all.

So why did you feel the need to make a fuss over nothing of any real significance, then? It was you who claimed I admire Hitler, not me. Did you forget that already?

I stated, quite simply, that as despots go, Hitler was the better artist. And you felt the need to bitch about it, and now you admit I'm right. So why were you bitching in the first place? Was it because you were ignorant of Hitler's painting talent or did you just reflexively feel the need to try to disagree with something purely because of who said it, not because of what was said?

Well, I agree. Bush wasn't a despot; he lacked the mental capacity to be any such thing. He was merely an incompetent tool put forward and manipulated by those who really wanted to be the new crazed despots of the western world.

Even so, I wish folks would leave the guy's hobby alone. He's got to live with the fact that he led the free world for eight years and botched it horribly, and will be known for generations as the guy who fucked up just about everything for America and for his party.

Not that I think W's fully aware of this. Doing bad paintings is likely a handy way for him to avoid his sad reality. I say, leave him to it, as long as he stays put and doesn't try to come back and pick up where he left off. We're finally starting to recover.

During his eight years in office, President George W. Bush gave us some great laughs. Many of his quotes—often called Bushisms—were among the best political humor we saw in modern history.
