Adoption is not the same as a man marring his son. Also if same sex marrage was legal in PA this adoption would be needed.

You fail yet again.

...Well...

Incest also applies to foster parents and step parents.

Frankly if this really is a problem - which I'm not sure it is, because it sounds like the two were caught out on their scam or how else could it be reported? - then fix the TAX CODE, I mean gatdamn that thing is a hot mess.

What denial? It is not the same situation Iron's claimed woudl happen. Plus it is happening not because of gay marrage, but a lack of it.

And that would be yet another reason PA is a dank hole, rounding out the myriad other reasons such as "Sandusky Scandal" and "Cash for Kids."

Thank you for making me aware of this, now I need to find steel wool to scour my brain.

Who would think that because of taxes, a gay man would adopt his gay lover?

It's just a matter of time. You know this, but insist on playing obtuse.

If that's the case, then rewrite the tax laws, so they'll be fair to all - gay, straight, married, single, alike.

And you don't see even a little bit of difference between that and marrying your own blood son?

Oh, that's right - you're from Georgia. That kind of thing is just another slow Tuesday for you.

These gay men became ‘father and son.’ Now they want to get married but can’t.

Parent trap

Pennsylvania is one of 25 states and territories that considers relations between adoptiven adoptive parents and their adult children within the definition of incest. And anyway, Esposito and Bosee thought it wouldn’t be right to get married without having their adoption annulled first.

When they started getting their paperwork together this March, they didn’t anticipate any trouble. Another same-sex couple they knew in nearby Harrisburg, a couple that had actually followed the same adoption route on their recommendation, had not long ago annulled the parental relationship and gotten married.

So they were excited to go before Allegheny County Judge Lawrence O’Toole this June. O’Toole had a reputation for being progressive on LGBT issues; he signed one of the first same-sex marriage licenses to be legally recognized in the state.

But in this case, O’Toole’s response was curt, sympathetic but uncompromising. He told Esposito and Bosee that while he understood their situation, he didn’t think that state law gave him the authority to dissolve the adoption.

O’Toole chose to defer to the appellate courts, scrawling “Denied” across the order.

What's your point. Is this a protest by you to suggest gay marriage is leading to strange behavior. To do that you would have to also suggest that heterosexual couples don't do strange things.

So Tell me, why the fascination? Were you a fan of the Jerry Springer show, because that would explain it?

Not at all a fan of Jerry Springer, so no idea why you even bring that up.

Just a follow up on the story. The couple , attempting to skirt around the law, are now 'stuck' as father and son. Had they waited, they could be married.

Not a " protest ". It is what it is. Jeremy ( and later Adam Baldwin ) may have gotten the finer points wrong, but as it stands, they were technically correct, in how a father wants to marry his " son ", albeit adopted.

It's an oddball story in the modus operandi of Jerry Springer. If it's about a tax dodge, there is nothing here to see. If it's not, there is nothing here to see.

Didn't Woody Allen marry his adoptive daughter?

I don't recall Auraptor screaming about that.

Interesting point he makes there lol....

When the government does whatever they can to rape you financially, it seriously behooves you to do whatever you can live with to justify why you shouldn't pay taxes. I haven't seen that movie I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry, but I get it. It wasn't that many years before that Pauly Shore and Andy Dick "pretended" to be gay to try to get out of the army.....

Of course Jeremy Irons wasn't saying that the new laws would make fathers and sons gay. He was just saying that if anyone can get married to anyone, why not do it if the two of you are already living together and know you're not going to get married to save 10k a year in taxes lol...

From a single guy who owns his own home free and clear, let me tell you how expensive taxes are when you have no bills outside of energy costs and water and trash pickup.... Between property taxes and income taxes, I spend more a year "renting" my home from the government and paying income taxes than I do on the rest of my monthly bills and beer combined.... by a lot....

He wasn't serious when he said this. He was making a witty joke about life as we know it.

Don't pidgeon hole the guy for f's sake. I know every role he's been in has been serious and he usually plays the bad guy.

I think this was an awesome old dude's attempt at stand up comedy.

I thought it was funny :)
