Quote:

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh declared victory on Thursday in his war against feminism. Limbaugh cited a poll which showed personal identification as a feminist on the wane. Limbaugh said that he has been warning against modern-era feminism for more than a quarter century and claimed that he had “succeed in stigmatizing” feminism.

“The Washington Times is reporting that feminism may be dead,” Limbaugh began. “At least in this way: 72 percent of Americans say they are not feminists.”

“It is likely disappointing news for old-school bra-burners and Gloria Steinem-inspired Feminazis,” Limbaugh continued.

“Who do you know that, for 25 – actually 28 years – but 25 on the national stage has been pointing out the truth of militant, left-wing feminism?” Limbaugh asked. “Could it be said that years of properly defining modern-era, militant feminism has proven fruitful?”

Limbaugh said that, like being a Republican, it is not “cool” to call oneself a feminist. This means that it is likely that there are more people who consider themselves feminists but who do not share this information with pollsters.

“I’m still going to chalk that up as a success,” Limbaugh said. He noted that only 38 percent of women and 18 percent of men consider themselves feminists, and more Democratic women than Republican women will label themselves as being feminists in that poll. I'm so happy for him. Of course, it would never occur to him that people can have the attitudes these days but not feel the need to use the title anymore, which is actually forward movement. Much more his style, like Trump's, to take credit for something and blow his own horn...

Unfortunately for Rush:

Boycotts Against Rush Limbaugh Thriving – Clear Channel Hit With Millions In Losses

Yesterday after the stock market closed, the media giant released its 1st quarter earnings report, showing a tremendous loss.

This is very bad news for Clear Channel CEO, Bob Pitman, and President, John Sykes. Surely while frolicking among their good will charities, taking in high salaries, and handing out massive Clear Channel employee layoffs, they saw this coming.Yet they allowed blatant racism, sexism, gay-hatred and bigotry to air on their 600 radio stations.

Pittman and Sykes would have to be living in another world to miss the massive public outrage against Rush Limbaugh’s show. Since Clear Channel opted to ignore the general public, as well as Limbaugh’s hate speech, Americans decided to take matters into their own hands, using their greatest weapon of all – the almighty dollar. They would go after Limbaugh and Clear Channel’s main lifeline. The buying consumers went after the sponsors.

Petitions were started by single citizens, as well as large activist organizations. Boycott groups evolved all over Facebook, and a Rush Limbaugh sponsor StopRush Database, was created for the average person to find contact information and air dates of sponsors. Even a ThinkContext browser app/extension is now available to see sponsoring companies, while searching the internet. It’s massive.

At first, about 100 sponsors left after the Sandra Fluke attack. Then a few more left. Some like Angie’s List and Legal Zoom went back to Limbaugh’s show probably thinking the public outcry would die down and people would move on. Instead, the national movement grew and gained in momentum. Everyday citizens, as well as activists, continue to join Facebook groups. Consumers are taking time to tell sponsors they will not buy from a company that supports Rush Limbaugh.

Sponsors react to that, and over 2,600 companies have pulled their ads due to the boycotts and petitions. Hundreds of more advertisers silently have slipped out. Now we see big losses for Clear Channel. Cumulus Radio has already admitted to losing millions due to the Limbaugh boycotts.

Not only is it clear to Clear Channel and Rush Limbaugh, that the public means business, they are finding out the public IS business. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/03/boycotts-against-rush-limbaugh

Really, I just thought it was a simple flaw in his math, as was pointed out to me in a previous post....

72% of Americans say they're not feminists, but since only a majority of the population is women, that has to mean that more than 50% of women still would claim themselves to be feminists.

And really... it's a poll. What did they do? Ask like 100 people what they thought? Maybe 1,000 people?

Polls are for retards.

What's truly funny is to see the Left perpetually claim that Limbaugh is 'done', while for the past 25 years, he's been #1 in radio.

( That's a quarter of a century, for you folks in Rio Linda )

BTW - how's that AirAmerica doing these days?

The reality behind Limbaugh's numbers has already been debunked, so I'm not going to repeat it here. However, anyone who admires him should remember his own words:
Quote:

"“Do you know what bought me all this?” he asked, waving his hand in the general direction of his prosperity. “Not my political ideas. Conservatism didn’t buy this house. I’m a businessman," he told The New York Times. "My first goal is to attract the largest possible audience so I can charge confiscatory ad rates. I happen to have great entertainment skills, but that enables me to sell airtime.” http://www.askmen.com/entertainment/special_feature_300/344_rush-limba
ugh-5-things-you-didnt-know.html#ixzz2SLjhplBh

In other words: Appealing to the very worst aspects of humans draws an audience of ignorant, hateful people, and he's quite happy to do so, JUST TO MAKE HIMSELF RICH. He doesn't give a damn about anything else. We realize people like Rap think this is terribly wonderful, but all that does is illustrate the mentality of those like he who idolize Limbaugh.

As one person commented:
Quote:

I just think of him as a financial wizard and as a failure of a human being. There are many things about Rush Limbaugh’s popularity that appalls me. It is amazing that, literally, millions of people believe that he is speaking the truth; and THEY think just the way HE (Limbaugh) thinks! How did we end up with so many ignorant people in the United States? Even more appalling, he doesn’t really mean what he says, but, obviously, enjoys the exploitation of the ignorance of a specific percentage of our population.

Perhaps it is integrity that is the least important quality to which Rush Limbaugh aspires. It is a shame because he is capable of entrancing a huge audience, yet, contributes nothing to that audience’s education and betterment. He will not go down in history as a man who had integrity, honor, and will “live on in the hearts of mankind.” Rush Limbaugh does not possess admirable convictions, such as honesty, strength of character, empathy, fair-mindedness. He is without a value system that recognizes the importance of contributing to a society. He, daily, demonstrates that he is using up quite a lot of oxygen, and his memory will not be that of an honorable citizen of America..

So glad for you that this is what you admire.

As to his number-one status; America has gone through many phases, and some pretty evil things have lasted a very long time during them. Slavery lasted far longer than 25 years. Rush will fade just like segregation, racism, homophobia, and all the other things he pushes. It just takes time, and it's already happening.

Beyond that, enjoy your adoration of this scumbag and please do go right on defending him, I leave you to it.

And also ? How the hell do YOU know what Limbaugh cares about? I'd bet he's donated more of his own money than Obama has spent on taking the 1st family on vacation.

Thank you for doing the math. I was doing it the other way round: " 50 % of Americans are men. Very few feminists. Of the remaining 50 %, to make 72 % total--" and my brain quit, right there. You took the shortcut and got to the answer I was trying to figure.

Hey, it worked with gladiators during the Roman times, and bear-baiting in Shakespeare's. Mighta thought we made SOME progress since then, but we also got Michael Vick and his dogs (sorry to remind you, Niki...), and the Kardashians, not to mention Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, and most of the stuff on cable TV.

Yep, ask any woman whether they enjoy such conditions and rights as -

equal pay for equal work
the right to own property after marriage
the right to continue to work after marriage
the ability to enter the profession of their choice
the right to leave an abusive relationship
laws that prevent husbands from abusing and raping their wives
the right to use contraception regardless of marital status
the right to vote in elections
the right to stand for public office

I can guarantee most would say yes. Most men would too. And yet little kudos is given to what went into obtaining those rights. That they were fought for largely by women, largely by feminists. And yet that is largely forgotten.

Most youngsters couldn't imagine it any different.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

"Most youngsters couldn't imagine it any different."

That's true of the ones I've met. They can't imagine a time when trying to join the electrician's or pipe-fitter's union, or going to medical school, or working as a chemist, or becoming an engineer, or any number of careers, put you a situation where you would be one in a thousand, or less. They can't imagine that when I was growing up there were help wanted: male and help wanted: female job openings. They can't imagine that in those ads women were bookkeepers, men accountants. Women were nurses, men doctors. Women were technicians, men technologists. Women were teachers, men principals. Women were secretaries, men executives. And while it's a lot more common now for women to take on roles according to their abilities and interests, they still face a strong headwind. Women are hired into orchestras 70:30 during auditions where the reviewers can't see if they're male or female, the ratio is 10:90 the other way when the musician can be viewed. When research grants are reviewed without names or other sex-indicators, women pull in twice as much grant money as men, when names or other indicators are visible, men pull in three and a half times as much. And so on. But it's not the way it was before.

They can't imagine a time before birth control. Though when it comes to violence against women and rape, there is still a widespread feeling of male prerogative. And when it comes to abortion, they are becoming reacquainted with the back alley.

But then, when I was growing up I couldn't imagine not having the vote. I couldn't imagine not being able to own property in my own name. Or not being able to get a driver's license and drive a car.

Just as there were rights I took for granted that didn't exist before my generation, the young women take their rights for granted. I suspect - or at least hope - that if a significant number of these rights are removed, that the new generation will be reminded of the category 'feminist' and find themselves to be that.

All good points.

KPO, in my experience people often don't like feminists because they can be strident, assertive women who don't take shit and don't necessarily conform to societal standards regarding 'how women should be'. Yep, sometimes that isn't pretty, isn't sweet, isn't nice and I guess that is the point.

Moi aussia, tho' I don't "hesitate" to call myself one, I just don't think the title is necessary anymore. I usually shrug and say "I believe in equal rights for both sexes."

And Limbaugh had nothing to do with it, of course. Magons pegged the most common reason:
Quote:

people often don't like feminists because they can be strident, assertive women who don't take shit and don't necessarily conform to societal standards regarding 'how women should be'.

The entertainment and media industries have done their bit; Limbaugh's only been a peep heard in certain circles, nothing more.

And Magons,
Quote:

You better fucking BELIEVE IT! When I grew up, women still wore poodle skirts, high heels, were "wives and mothers first", and divorce still had a bad name. I shudder to think...

You can't do math even when you're sober, can you?

1 -.72 = percent Americans consider themselves feminists = .28

Tidbit: Twice as many women consider themselves feminists as do men.

Number of Americans = 315,806,851

Number of Women Americans = 315,806,851 * .51 = 161,061,494

Number of Male Americans = 315,806,851 * .49 = 154,745,357

.28* number of Americans = number of feminists (both genders) = 88,425,918

88,425,918 = number women feminists + number men feminists

Let x = number women feminists, y = (1/2)x = number men feminists

So 88,425,918 = (2/2)x + (1/2)x = (3/2)x

Solve for x = (2/3) * 88,425,918 = 58,950,612 women feminists

Solve for y = 88,425,918 - 58,950,612 = 29,475,306 male feminists

Percent of female Americans who are feminists: 58,950,612 / 161,061,494 = 36%

Percent of male Americans who are feminists: 29,475,306 / 154,745,357 = 19%

========================================

Also just putting up this information for thought, since my generation tends to get blamed for Oh Just About Everything.

http://today.yougov.com/news/2013/05/01/has-feminist-become-dirty-word/

Since my generation is clearly not feminist enough because we have no control over laws passed by asshole politicians, we can all "at least hope" that in the event all our rights are removed my generation will learn its lesson. Girls my age need a good reminder about being female chattel and second class citizens and baby machines with no jobs, hopes, future, or votes now and then because we're completely ignorant.

I am lost and stumbling around where I no longer belong. Apologies to Niki for spamming up her thread.

Good list...it's not feminism your describing since those values are universal. In fact, it's the history of the Republican Party's legislative, social, and military accomplishments pretty much from around 1850 to...right now.

Welcome to the Party! Oh, and its "opportunity" not ability. For 'ability' you'll have to address either God, your parents, or your mirror. The contraception one is debatable...although I'm not aware of any law against using contraception. Husbands should not abuse or rape their wives? But are feminists in favor or anyone getting abused or raped or are you limiting yourself...because me, I'm against all the rape and abuse. Yep, most of your list are NOT feminst issues so I'll be sending you a Party fundraising letter.

Feminism is very important and certainly has its origins in important social movements of the latter half of the 18th Century. Female sufferage, limitations on wage and safer working conditions, child labor limitations, early peace movements, and certainly prohibition were all among the first feminist issues. Most of those were good and noble causes, but banning alcohol was definately a shark-jumping moment and gave us a good deal to reconsider when it came to women voting.

Modern feminism has a very narrow and self-interested agenda.

1. Right to kill babies. Sure you can argue fetus this and privacy that and rape, incest, or immaculate conception along with cancer screenings, birth control, and Planned Parenthood...but really its "I don't want to have this baby."

2. Equal pay. This is a very important issue and a worthy cause. Fact is if a woman and a man are equal in their job in all respects (productivity, seniority, etc) a woman should not be paid less. That said the statistics show that the leading factor is pregnancy. Most women either slow down or fall off the career track because at some point they give birth and that takes time which should affect seniority and productivity thus resulting in lower pay. The 2nd leading factor is if you work for President Obama since women working for him make 20% less then men and have almost no access to senior management positions.

3. Birth Control. This is a part of the 'I am women so give me something free argument.' I'm only in favor of this if my social activities are also subsidized. I like video games, drinking, and going to sporting events...pay me.

4. Lesbians. Feminism is a partner to the Gay and Lesbian movement. They have valid issues to fight for and this partnership makes sense. Me, I've always supported hot lesbians, so I'm a Moderate....

5. Sexual Harassment. Not the big deal it was a while back mainly because the feminists won the argument. It was no real stretch, people deserve to be able to live and work without being abused. Conservatives can get behind that same as anyone. My problem comes when this is abused since I think making a false claim hurts the larger cause, not to mention the innocent man or woman involved (not to mention their families and everyone connected).

There might be a few I missed...

H

Excuse me while I go clean my keyboard...

On the other hand, here's some interesting news:
Quote:

Rumor has it that Rush Limbaugh will leave the Cumulus radio network. Last night Politico reported an insider leak about Limbaugh’s impending demise, and 20 news organizations have picked it up. The bilious radio host is reportedly upset because Cumulus CEO, Lewis W. Dickey publicly blames him for the mega network’s millions in losses since Limbaugh’s Sandra Fluke attack in March 2012. Yesterday, the Daily News reported Limbaugh claiming he isn’t to blame for his network’s plummeting advertising revenue. Though, if he didn’t know — on least on some level — he’s to blame, Limbaugh undoubtedly would have started a lawsuit by now.

According to Politico, Cumulus reported $5.5 million in losses for its biggest three radio stations in August 2012, and in March Dickey vaguely stated that ad revenue has, “been challenged… due to some of the issues that happened a year ago.”

Although lots of people eagerly await news of Limbaugh’s demise, no one will know for sure until tomorrow, when Cumulus releases their first quarter earnings report and Dickey makes an official statement. Let’s hope, for their sake, their earnings are better than Limbaugh’s parent company, Clear Channel, which reported a $203 million loss in revenue, compared to a $143 million loss last year at this time. Clear Channel’s bad news came Thursday after the bell and quickly spread throughout social media. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/06/rush-limbaugh-whining-over-bla

In the interest of fairness, I've spared you most of the more biased aspects of the article. We'll see what happens...

ETA: Just found this:
Quote:

Rush Limbaugh is allegedly in the midst of a battle with Cumulus Media, the distributor of his radio show. The company’s CEO has blamed ad revenue losses on the conservative talkers’ controversial 2012 “slut” comments about Georgetown student Sandra Fluke.

Mediaite’s own sources confirm that the ad troubles in connection with Limbaugh’s show are, indeed, severe. In fact, one source within the radio advertising world with direct knowledge of the ad buys on Limbaugh’s show confirms the extent of the problem: “The vast majority of national advertisers now refuse to air their ads during Rush Limbaugh’s show,” our source tells us. http://www.mediaite.com/online/mediaite-learns-vast-majority-of-nation

I would bask in the tears of all the Limbaugh-worshiping assholes around here, including the leading head-firmly-up-Rush's-sphincter RWED poster who said that Limbaugh had a point about Fluke's sluttiness...

...but asshole tears are gross. Ew!

I'll just go back to watching hockey. Very clean by comparison. Go B's!

You go girl; nothing to cry over...yet! If he leaves, others will pick him up; at this time in history, there's still too much demand for his kind of filth and still many who want a bite of his ugly fruit. I'm sure there's a looong ways to go before we're rid of him, and he's only the most popular, there will always be another to take his place even when she's gone.

Think good thoughts and root for your team...time better spent.

I think if you dig past the whole "hate Rush Limbaugh" reflex you've got and look at this from a business side you'll see that this is really a story that is about how screwed up WABC is. The fact is they have had ongoing ad revenue problems that have nothing to do with the talent or a recent ill timed comment. The problems stem from 2007 and some reorginization of their front offices that resulted in poor management.

Its clear that since 1990 the number one name in talk Radio has been Rush Limbaugh. He leads nationally and in most local areas as well. His revenue numbers are huge and have been huge for years. WABC saw a substantial decline in ad revenue across their entire network and have chosen to place the blame on various members of their talent and Rush is merely the latest and biggest name to take 'the blame'. His numbers, however, do not support WABC's contention. If he leaves he will become the biggest free agent radio talent since Howard Stern and will likely command Stern-like numbers in exchange for Stern-like market share and revenue.

Poor management is costly. Look at Hardees. Arguably they had the best burgers and chicken sandwiches but the downside is high cost (which is ok if your product is superior)and poor customer service (its a 20 min wait or more when your the only person in line) mean I choose not to go there even though I vastly prefer their products. Result, they go out of business.

While there may be a little truth to that, Hero - Rush lost some big ticket sponsors, and scooped up some tiny ones to replace them. That will have an impact on the bottom line.

In the midst of Rush Limbaugh‘s reported battle with Cumulus Media, which buys his radio show’, new details are emerging today about just how badly the conservative talker’s advertising woes have become. And now, it seems to be extending beyond just Limbaugh.

Sources close to Cumulus Media told Radio Ink: 48 of the top 50 network advertisers “exclude Rush and Hannity” orders; and “every major national ad agency has same dictate.”

While its unclear how many advertised with the shows in the past, this revelation is significant because it is the first time Limbaugh’s #2 competitor Sean Hannity has been brought into this conversation about advertiser aversion; and because, if true, a 48 out of 50 (96%) rate of top advertisers wanting nothing to do with the shows represents a rather striking figure.

According to Radio Ink:
Quote:

On Monday, Rush's people made it clear they were not happy with Dickey blaming any past company revenue shortfalls on Rush and they didn't want to hear it again on Cumulus' quarterly conference call. Both David Hinkley at the New York Daily News and Politico were sent words of warning aimed at Dickey by anonymous sources. Then, a very high ranking Cumulus official sent the following statement to Radio Ink, and asked not to be sourced. "Forty-eight of the top 50 network advertisers have “excluded Rush and Hannity” orders. Every major national ad agency has the same dictate." http://radioink.com/Article.asp?id=2649276&spid=24698

I have no doubt bad management may be at play; I have no doubt blaming Rush entirely is convenient. I'm pretty sure the efforts to boycott advertisers has also played its part.

Not a good week for LimpBalls, it would seem:
Quote:

Quick recap of the week:

Last Friday: Ding, Ding, Ding! The Wall Street closing bell rang in a huge loss for Rush Limbaugh’s parent company, Clear Channel – to tune of hundreds of millions. Sadly for Clear Channel, 1st Quarter Earnings Report showed a $203 million revenue loss, compared to $143 million revenue loss last year. (Mind you, the boycotts started 1st Quarter last year) Ouch. Boycotters are not playing around.

Sunday Night & Monday: Rumors began flying that Rush Limbaugh was ‘mulling’ over leaving radio network, Cumulus – one day before the media giant was to release their earnings. Cumulus carries The Rush Limbaugh Show on 40 radio stations including New York’s WABC. Was Rush Limbaugh trying to save face ahead of the dismal news? Rush reportedly complained that Cumulus was blaming his show for Cumulus losses over the year. Proof is in the earnings, Rush.

Tuesday: Cumulus releases their earnings confirming more losses in the millions, as well, and CEO Lew Dickey, alluded the losses were due to advertisers leaving Rush Limbaugh’s show after boycotts, and his attack on then unknown law student, Sandra Fluke. Dickey simply said the ”facts (advertising losses) are indisputable.”

Also on Tuesday: It was reiterated that Dial Global has also attributed millions in losses to Limbaugh ( http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/112638/dial-global-pos
ts-disappointing-q3-financials-poin
]). Many others in the industry report negative consequences resulting from Limbaugh’s recklessness.

Wednesday: Trade site Radio Ink quoted a “very high-ranking Cumulus official,” who said, “Forty-eight of the top 50 network advertisers have ‘excluded Rush and Hannity’ orders. Every major national ad agency has the same dictate.” ( http://radioink.com/Article.asp?id=2649276&spid=24698])

And the week’s not even over!

So where does that leave Limbaugh today? Not looking good as he continues his smut. He’s running scared and admits to feeling the Bain, I mean pain from the boycotts.* ‘His party,’ the Republicans, are distancing themselves from him more and more ( http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/04/25/frank_luntz_limbaugh
_
mark_levin_are_problematic_for_gop.html and ** below
). And Over 2,600 advertisers have left his show; Boycott Rush Limbaugh Sponsors picked up another 1,000 members over the weekend – now at 55,300+ members. The groups do a lot of the dirty work, report and document the ads to the StopRush.net. Consumers take that information and post messages on sponsor Facebook pages. message sponsors via their Facebook and website contact forms, tweet sponsors, email, call and send letters to sponsors through the postal service.

The protestors are not going to give up. They’ve proven so. One anonymous spokesperson from the largest boycott groups said:
Quote:

As long as Rush Limbaugh remains on public radio, we will continue to boycott, petition and protest. The public is sick and tired of Limbaugh hate-filled show that airs three hours a day, five days a week. We encourage others to not spend their hard-earned money buying from companies that support Limbaugh’s hate, racism, sexism and anti-gay bigotry. And we will continue to expose the people, companies, and stations that do support him. You could say we’re here for the duration. And we’re growing in numbers everyday. It no longer about whether or not Limbaugh will leave public radio. It’s now about when. And the day can’t come too soon for Americans concerned with the hate that is currently promoted on AM public radio.”
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/09/over-80-of-network-advertisers- have-excluded-rush-limbaugh-when-buying-airtime-video/

* From Rush:
Quote:

“When you look at a network, for example (mumbledysomething) or a show, that is by far number one, and they’re still running penile enhancement ads. what’s happening is that mainstream media buyers are sending money elsewhere, trying to harm them. Well penile en– take your pick–the Ronco Veg-o-matic, you know, while McDonald’s and Coke and Meineke are everywhere else. " http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/197738/rush-limbaugh-can-only-get- penile-enhancement-sponsors-these-days/

** From the Republican National Committee's own post-mortem:
Quote:

As part of the Growth and Opportunity Project’s effort, focus groups were conducted in Columbus, Ohio, and Des Moines, Iowa, to listen to voters who used to consider themselves Republicans. These are voters who recently left the Party. Asked to describe Republicans, they said that the Party is “scary,” “narrow minded,” and “out of touch” and that we were a Party of “stuffy old men.” This is consistent with the findings of other post-election surveys. http://images.dailykos.com/i/user/191280/130960510-Growth-Opportunity-
Project.pdf
, page 6

Anyone come to mind? Keep it up, Rush, oh PLEASE!

I found this mildly amusing, but not surprising:
Quote:

News/Talk Radio and Country Music Radio Share Significant Segments of their Audiences. Two different radio formats: One plays music by artists such as Johnny Cash, Carrie Underwood and Florida-Georgia Line. The other has voices such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Stephanie Miller. Ironically, both the country music format that does not talk politics and the news/talk format that plays no music each have something in common – they cater largely to the same audience! Leading country radio consultant Jaye Albright calls country radio and talk radio the “universal donor” formats. http://www.talkers.com/

Voters leaving the party because it's perceived as the scary, narrow minded and out of touch party of stuffy old men; Limbaugh's audience listens to Johnny Cash; but of course it's me and my "ilk" who are dying out....riiiight...

There were lots of headlines about Rush Limbaugh this week. The majority had nothing positive to say about the hate-speaking radio host or his parent company, Clear Channel, run by Bob Pittman and John Sykes. Not a good week for the Rushbo, at all. One headline referred to Limbaugh as a right-wing welfare bum, because he’s having to take money/gifts/payola from right-wing groups. Given that 95% of Cumulus radio network advertisers want no part of Limbaugh, it makes sense he would need to have other sources to subsidize his smut.

Payola, is indeed, taking place. Heritage Foundation and FreedomWorks (linked to the Tea Party/Koch Bros.) have been paying Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, according to Dick Armey, former FreedomWorks Chairman. Limbaugh and Beck are taking money to talk up the right-wing agendas unbeknownst to their audiences. Pretty seedy – and it maybe illegal.

Some decades ago there was a shake-up in the music industry. Record execs were using payola to push their music/agendas. A law was passed making it illegal. FCC has specific rules against payola in the broadcast industry. Apparently, Rush Limbaugh’s show is being overlooked. With the new FCC Chairman coming in, maybe the government agency will take a good, long, and hard look into the goings on at Clear Channel.

An FCC rule states:
Quote:

Any broadcast station employee who has accepted or agreed to accept payment for the airing of program material, and the person making or promising to make the payment, must disclose this information to the station prior to the airing of the program.

Isn’t it ironic? Conservatives are always preaching “Free Market.” http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/11/is-rush-limbaugh-breaking-fede
ral-law-by-taking-money-from-right-wing-groups/

In other words, Rushbo is a PAID SPOKESMAN for Koch's Heritage Foundation and FreedomWorks, paid to increase their wealth and push their agenda. Not a newsman, not even an entertainer, but someone paid to push the right-wing agenda. They pay him to propagandize his audience, to sell poor idiots like Rap their "product".
