Considering the sheer number of things that Islam bans (pork, alcohol, movies, music, chess, kites, etc…) a Muslim driver who refuses to drive a truck containing them is mostly useless.

When Muslim taxi drivers refused to drive passengers with seeing eye dogs or who carried bottles of alcohol, there was an uproar. But now Obama Inc. is using to claim that Muslim discrimination is a civil right that employers must accommodate.

Star Transport, Inc., a trucking company based in Morton, Ill., violated federal law by failing to accommodate two employees because of their religion, Islam, and discharging them, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

The lawsuit alleged that Star Transport refused to provide two employees with an accommodation of their religious beliefs when it terminated their employment because they refused to deliver alcohol.

A trucking company may be obligated to accommodate religious observance by providing time off for holidays or prayers. It is not obligated to excuse employees from doing their actual job. And delivering alcohol is part of what being a truck driver means. If it’s against your religion, find a job that doesn’t involve delivering large quantities of foods and beverages.

In fact there is no actual prohibition that bars Muslims from driving a truck full of alcohol. There are prohibitions on drinking alcohol. Every Muslim corner store I have ever seen sells alcohol, alongside smuggled cigarettes and lottery tickets. Many Muslim countries allow the sale of alcohol.

These objections have little to do with the Koran and a great deal to do with Muslims imposing Islamic law on non-Muslims in Western countries. And Obama has chosen to collaborate in that assault on civil rights. Again.

This scenario already came up with Reedy v. Schneider National in which Vasant Reddy blackmailed a trucking company into a settlement. But now this latest assault is being spearheaded by Obama Inc.

The case is going in front of Judge James E. Shadid, an Obama nominee who has been hailed as the only Arab Federal judge in Illinois. That’s quite a coincidence, in the sense of not being a coincidence at all.

The EEOC will sue you for not hiring Muslims. Then they will sue you when the Muslims you hired don't do the job they were hired for. A Catch-22 the employer can't win.

The core issue here has nothing to do with a judge. It has to do with the EEOC suing and taking a private business to court over a decision it made to fire employess who refused to do the job they were hired for.

Democrat Obama's picks, Democrat Senate's approvals......

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is a federal law enforcement agency.

All Commission seats and the post of general counsel to the commission are filled by the President of the U.S., subject to confirmation by the Senate.

On December 22, 2010, the U.S. Senate confirmed Jacqueline Berrien to be the chairman. She had been nominated as chairman by President Barack Obama in July 2009.In September 2009, Obama chose Chai Feldblum to fill another vacant seat.

On March 27, 2010, President Barack Obama made recess appointments of three Commission posts: Berrien, Feldblum, and Victoria Lipnic. With the appointments, the Commission had its full complement of five commissioners: Ishimaru, Berrien, Feldblum, Lipnic, and Constance Barker, who was confirmed by the Senate in 2008 to be a Commissioner. Obama also made a recess appointment of P. David Lopez to be the EEOC's General Counsel.

On December 22, 2010, the Senate gave full confirmation to Berrien, Feldblum, Lipnic, and Lopez.

Then why did you (through your quoted article) feel it necessary to try to paint the judge as some kind of Muslim activist legislating from the bench? Your article, which YOU went out of your way to quote at length, describes the man as "the only Arab Federal judge in Illinois." It goes on to omit any mention of the man's birthplace, heritage, or background (his father was a sheriff, not a Sharif, and a state legislator, not a Sheikh).

Also, the author goes out of his way to claim that "[e]very Muslim corner store I have ever seen sells alcohol, alongside smuggled cigarettes and lottery tickets."

I wonder how he knows every Muslim corner store he's ever seen sells "smuggled cigarettes". It seems a pretty baseless accusation to make - one based entirely in xenophobia and stereotyping.

You really should look to your sources, Jongsie; they're not making you look very good. When you take as gospel the rantings of racists pandering to the lowest common denominator among a nationalist, jingoistic bunch of people, you're aligning yourself with a not-very-credible brand.

Or is it that my question bothered you because it poked at your (and the article's author's) prejudices about people with Middle-Eastern-sounding names? What do you actually know about the judge in question, seeing as you're so willing to taint him with the dreaded "Arab" moniker?

Now, as to the actual meat of the story, I fail to find any passage in the Q'uran that forbids Muslims from transporting alcohol, only from drinking it here on Earth (it's allowed in Paradise, it seems).

And there wasn't a single Republican in the Senate during that whole time, eh?

You might as well have noted that the judge you earlier maligned was confirmed without a single vote against his confirmation in the Senate.

Again, it seems there wasn't even one lone Republican serving in the Senate to voice any objection.

Maybe they were busy voting to repeal ObamaCare for the nineteenth or thirty-seventh time.

Should Orthodox Jewish drivers be protected if they require their shifts to end before sundown on Friday night, so they can participate in their Sabbath? Or a fundamentalist Baptist if he refused to deliver dance records, or to dance clubs, because his denomination forbids dancing?

Or is it, as Mags suggests, only if the EEOC sticks up for a minority? Bearing in mind that a member of a majority group doesn't require sticking up for?

He's implying that if a party has a one-seat majority in either House, everything that is done by the government is entirely their doing, and can never in any way be stopped from happening.

You presented damned few "facts", and those that were presented had a seriously biased slant to them. Your source makes several outrageous assumptions and claims seemingly based on nothing but racial/religious stereotypes. The author's name is "Greenfield" and he posts under the Twitter handle "SultanKnish" and is supposedly some kind of self-styled Israel expert. Should I start making assumptions about him based on stereotypes of Jews?

As for answering my questions, you didn't. You bitched out and ran away without addressing them at all.

It was exactly what was expected from you, and as you've shown over the past few weeks, it's all we should expect.

Well I simply don't understand how this is somehow Obama's fault. I can see how you might disagree with the ruling. I have issue with people being employed and not doing their jobs for religious reasons, I think you need to find a job that fits in with your practise, or clear it with the employers first ie

Nurse unable to hand out contraception makes that clear or chooses another role when unable to comply.

But I don't see wht this particularly ruling is the responsibility of Obama or Obama Inc whatever that may be, so you'll either have to provide more evidence than he appointed the judge - because last time I checked, judges don't run their decisions by the president.

And by the way, he didn't "appoint" the judge, he nominated the judge. The judge was then confirmed in an 89-0 vote in the Senate, without one single vote against.

So what I want to know from Jongsie is this: Were there 89 Democrat senators in the U.S. Senate in 2011 when this judge was confirmed? He claims that this was all the fault of the Democrats, which certainly implies that he doesn't think Republicans had any part of this judge's confirmation process.

There are two choices here: Jongsie is either (a) ignorant of the way the Senate confirmation process works, or (b) he is willfully and intentionally attempting to misinform and mislead people into believing something which he knows to be untrue.
