Well, there you have it. He is now officially their God: "Conservative activists compared Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to Jesus Christ during an event Friday, earning a chorus of amens from the audience of Iowa Republicans.

Cruz (R-TX) was hailed as someone willing to be “crucified for their belief system” by conservative activist Steve Scheffler, speaking at the Iowa Events Center on October 25." ( http://www.nationalconfidential.com/2013/10/gop-event-ted-cruz-hailed-
right-wing-jesus
/)

In front of the few hundred souls in the audience, the right-wing Christian activist Steve Scheffler praised Cruz for shutting down the government. He thanked God for the Canadian-born Texas senator and claimed Cruz and the Tea Party were being “crucified for their belief system,” just like Jesus Christ. The remarks drew shouts of “amen” from many in the crowd and proved that the GOP has been conquered by religious insanity.

According to Buzzfeed, one Iowa GOP operative called Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz a “superhero” complete with a bit of gun rhetoric. “Every time one of these guys attacks him, it’s good for him,” the operative exclaimed. “He’s like a superhero. The more bullets that get shot at him, the bigger and stronger he gets.”

But that wasn’t all. When Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz took the stage at the annual Reagan fundraising event, the biblical references didn’t end. Cruz said that the Tea Party is like David battling an army of Goliaths. The “Goliaths,” Cruz contends, include the media and President Obama. He accused Obama of being “intent on violating every constitutional protection.”

Oh, I do hope he runs, what fun that will be!

Oh, just because ONE person says he's Jesus, doesn't mak him the NEW Jesus.

You're WAY over playing this, Niki.

Yeah, Mark, that one even made my Jim giggle.

Given that there were "hundreds" in the crowd and calling Ted Cruz drew forth "amens", I think we can accept that some in the Tea Party see Ted Cruz as "jesus", just as supposedly some others see Obama as "god" or "jesus" or whatever.

You can't expect the poor boy to grasp such a complicated concept, Niki. This is irrelevant (he's already ignoring the chorus of amens so he can dismiss it as a single person), but he'll still keep insisting everyone on the left sees Obama as holy or some shit. You know it'll happen.

That's right. When one silly person on the left gets all shivery over Obama, that automatically means we all worship him as Lord and Savior. (Despite being vocal and avowed atheists who criticize him often.) But if a crowd of God-fearing religiosos on the right shout Amen at Cruz and raise not a doubt as to the damage he's done this country and his party with his shut-down nonsense, well, that's not something to be discussed.

Once again, Rappy doing his job, illustrating the insanity of the RWA brain. Good job laddy!

(It's really so easy that I argue again - Rappy can not be a real boy.)

I don't have to be careful when and where I say stuff like that any more.

One of my family asked me to stop saying religion is a hoax, so I told her she should pray for me to stop and see how that worked out. I heard my mom stifle a laugh when I said it.

Sarah Palin says we should write laws based on the bible.

So I expect her daughter to be stoned to death any day now and Sarah's husband will start beating her for trying to exert authority over a man.

Problem w/ your failed point is that with Obama, it wasn't just ONE person, or one event. It was multiple times, multiple people, time and time again. And these aren't even ' unbiased 'members of the media calling him God™, under the guise of reporting the news.

Oh, and Niki ? All those 'amens' ? It's not remotely unusual for these types to speak out in agreement over something which they strongly agree. That's just how those folks get.

And btw...I'm VERY real.

And it was multiple people shouting Amen, you blithering fuckwit. And ya know what - it being multiple people STILL doesn't mean everyone on the right. Sad that you can't grasp that the same applies to both.

Its amazing the degree to which you embrace your one-sided ignorance.

It's a no-win situation, Rap just doesn't get it. Even HE admitted "It's not remotely unusual for these types to speak out in agreement over something which they strongly agree"--ergo, all those who said "amen" AGREED Ted Cruz is Jesus. That makes it just as equivalent as a couple of people making stupid remarks about Obama (and it wasn't "time after time", that's already been thoroughly debunked).

Got it. Ted Cruz is now Rap's Lord and Savior, to whom he worships, and is his God. Fair enough.

Hey, should we go back to that preacher who "anointed" Sarah Palin, in church, in front of an audience (none of whom disagreed, either)?

Jesus Cruz and St. Palin; the holy couple. Amen.

Quote:

When conservative activists compared Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) last week to Jesus Christ, it wasn’t the first time the first-term Republican senator was described in religious terms.

The tea party favorite’s father, the Cuban-born evangelical minister Rafael Cruz, has been promoting his son as a “political savior” and an antidote to the “outright Marxist” President Barack Obama.

Several prominent Dominionist pastors blessed Ted Cruz in a July ceremony in Iowa, anointing the likely 2016 presidential candidate a “king” who would help usher in the kingdom of Christ.

And the senator’s father, who wields influence over his son and Republican kingmakers, apparently agrees.

The elder Cruz has frequently declared that Christian true believers were “anointed” by God to “take dominion” of “every area (of) society, education, government and economics.”

So while it may sound silly to those who deride Cruz to hear him described as a “superhero” who is willing to “be crucified for (who) belief system,” that’s how he’s seen in some quarters and promoted by his father.

One of Rafael Cruz’s allies, the Christian Zionist pastor Larry Huch, predicted in August 2012 that, in the coming year, “God will begin to rule and reign. Not Wall Street, not Washington, God’s people and his kingdom will begin to rule and reign. I know that’s why God got Rafael’s son elected, Ted Cruz, the next senator.”

The elder Cruz, a pastor affiliated with the Purifying Fire ministry, regularly speaks to tea party and Republican groups on behalf of his son, who frequently talks about and campaigns alongside his father, who’s risen to prominence alongside his son.

Rafael Cruz told an April gathering of tea party supporters in Hood County, Texas, that the “wicked,” including so-called Republicans In Name Only, were ruling the United States, and made his often-repeated claim that Obamacare would mandate suicide or stoppage of treatment for elderly patients.

Saying “social justice is a cancer,” the elder Cruz also claimed at the gathering that the federal government wanted to “take all of your money” and confiscate “our fortunes.”

Which is rather ironic, since Rafael Cruz has endorsed an evangelical belief known as the “end-time transfer of wealth” from the wicked to believers prior to the second coming of Christ.

The younger Cruz often cites his father’s influence on his own political philosophy, which includes exposing him to the Free Enterprise Education Center as a middle-schooler and encouraging him to participate in the Constitutional Corroborators group as a teen, and has touted his abilities as a skilled campaigner.

The evidence is overwhelming: The Right obviously worships their Jesus Cruz as a God.

That seals it. Conservative logic dictates that if more than one person on the planet refers to Obama as anything remotely comparable to a deity, that means every progressive in the nation worships him as a religious leader (never mind that *other* irrefutable fact that conservatives claim, that we're all godless heathen atheist devil worshipers).

By that exact logic, the entire conservative/lie-bertarian population believes Rafi Cruz is the messiah, the "anointed one". In truth, he's more of the Annoying One than anything else.

When your opponent is drowning, toss 'em an anvil. Cruz is the millstone around the neck of the GOP.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said over the weekend that he had prayed to God to guide him in the shutdown fight.

At the Values Voter Summit over the weekend, CBN’s David Brody spoke with Cruz about his role in instigating the government shutdown, which has been seen as complicating debt limit negotiations.

“Where do you see God in all of this fight that’s going on in your life right now?” Brody asked the Texas senator.

“Well, David, you know at every stage, my prayer to God is that His will be done,” Cruz insisted. “As it will be.”

Ahh, so it's NOT Obama's fault, it's GOD's--and Ted should know, as he's his Son...
