Trolling is not the word to use for what AURaptor does.

Tea Party Patriot clash with everything. Perfect example is Senator Ted Cruz from the Tea Party state of Texas denying the government shutdown was his doing. Last Sunday on TV, Cruz smoothly denied reality. The smaller people in the Tea Party follow Cruz's lead in how to deal with other people with other opinions. http://crooksandliars.com/2014/01/cbs-host-laughs-ted-cruzs-face-repea

Quote:

CBS Host Laughs In Ted Cruz's Face For Repeatedly Denying He Shut Down Government

CBS host Bob Schieffer's was driven nearly to a fit of giggles on Sunday after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) repeatedly refused to take responsibility for last year's government shutdown.

The veteran newsman led off his Sunday interview by simply asking if Cruz would be willing to once again hold the government hostage to try to get concessions from President Barack Obama.

"Well, Bob, with all due respect, I don't agree with the premise of your question," Cruz replied. "Throughout the government shutdown, I opposed a government shutdown. I said we shouldn't shut the government down. I think it was a mistake that President Obama and the Democrats shut the government down this fall."

"The question I asked you was, would you ever conceive of trying to shut down the government again?" Schieffer pressed, clearly not buying in to the alternate reality.

"As I said, I didn't threaten to shut down the government the last time," Cruz insisted. "I don't think we should ever shut down the government. And I repeatedly voted..."

"Well," Schieffer interrupted, laughing out of frustration. "If you didn't threaten to shut down the government, who was it that did?"

"President Obama," Cruz said.

Schieffer dropped his head as the Republican senator's rant continued: "I understand the White House said over and over again that the shutdown is the Republicans' fault. And I understand that's what you're repeating. But the reality is, I voted over and over again to fund the federal government."

"Senator, I know what Republicans were telling me -- like [House Speaker] John Boehner -- that this was a disaster and never again," Schieffer shot back, frustrated but also clearly amused at the senator's talking points.

Comparing anything to Nazis is the product of an uncreative mind, too ignorant to have any other (more accurate) references. Yes, this rather whiny and unsympathetic member of Rupert Murdoch's inner circle has his head on straight and he's discovered, shockingly, that America's rich are in danger.

You may well find it interesting to know that tensions in the French Revolution were caused primarily by war debts, government created inflation relative to unchanging wages, and the fact that the clergy and nobility, who had 90% of the wealth and represented 1% of the population, paid NO TAXES whatsoever, and often received kickbacks from the taxes taken from the rest of the population. What's more, giving more money to the employers of the French nation did not necessarily result in a better lifestyle or income for those they employed but rather reduced money in circulation and social mobility, which in those times due to social pressures was never very good to begin with. The hostility of the other classes was exacerbated by the contempt that the aristocracy showed any member of the working classes who did not have the sense to be born with the same wealth and connections they had.

History repeats itself, and those who could pass on the lessons of the past are usually dead by the time they are sufficiently taught. Reality does not suffer fools.

I'd call it fraud. Senator Cruz is a fraud -- wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

Senator Cruz caused billions in damage with the shutdown. Then he defends himself by claiming he didn't say what he said, he didn't do what he did. And the Tea Party wonders why it is disrespected when Cruz is its leader.

And AURapture repeats Cruz's fraudulent statements. That makes AURapture a fraud, too, which is worse than a troll.

And if they're in danger, we're ALL in danger. Though the comparison is apt, for the reasons given.

Only this time, the top earners are paying almost ALL of the taxes, and the rest of the population pays less and less, and is taking and taking, and after being urged on by their communist loving Prez, demanding to be given MORE.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/08intop400.pdf

And that is without considering that stocks are not taxable, nor is money kept overseas, and various other loopholes.

Also, you are only talking specifically about federal income tax where the wealthiest pay 70% of the burden (which amounts to between 0 to 10% of their individual income), which is a faulty way to frame the debate. When you factor in all the other taxes, the top 10% pay about 30% of their taxable income, accounting for 50% of the burden, and the middle class pay 25%, for the other 50%.

People barely understand taxes or economics, and I'm one of them. What they care about is that the wealthiest 1% of the country do hold 90% of the wealth. Which has the same chilling parallels I already mentioned.

But at least you agree that the dissent and dangers are more like the French Revolution than it is Nazis. Because the Nazis thing is a stupid comparison.

I, meanwhile, am willing to concede that spending and debts necessitating this degree of taxation are stupidly out of control.

Your #'s are inverted. The top 10 % pay MOST of the taxes, some paying as much 50% of their income. Most of the lower income folks pay NO federal taxes.

The Nazi comparison is apt, if one knows their history, and how the Jews were cast as scapegoats of the woes of the people of Germany.

Lower income is not the middle class. And as for the top 10%, that is not what the studies or the statistics say. The tax burden between the middle class and top 10% is about equal, in that both pay between 25-30% of their income in combined taxes.

http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/12/news/economy/rich-taxes/

Huff Post argues similar numbers, although they claim that the 1% contribute 30% of the burden which may be correct.

Quote:

It's not apt because the analogy fails in a number of ways.

Even assuming a rather offensive stereotype that Nazis blamed Jews for banking practices that led to the failure of the Weimar Republic, that all Jews are bankers, and all rich Americans are bankers, that analogy fails because it is based on two falsehoods.

And that doesn't get into the fact that the Nazi hatred of the Jews had a eugenicist racial element that a dislike of the rich lacks, and that even Jewish bankers were living in Jewish ghettos by the time of Kristalnacht due to centuries of prejudice and oppression, whereas the rich hardly live in ghettos and except possibly for taxes can hardly be considered oppressed.

That they are in danger I don't disagree, but they can't say that this is like the Nazis until they can pony up some skeletal pictures of them starving that aren't young heiresses being anorexic.

Until then it just sounds like poor rich people whining about first world problems and ima mock the shit out of that.

Second, trolls are consistent, intentional frauds. Being a fraud doesn't mean one is not a troll, they go hand in hand.

Byte, I hate to see you wasting your time actually trying to communicate with, much less debate, our resident troll. Surely by now you've realized it goes nowhere, and you're the last person I'd expect to get caught by his bait of posting fraudulent "facts". I thought you'd have caught on to the fact that responding to him in any way does nothing but encourage him to post more idiocy and insist on it.

Surely you see Rap in the Wikipedia definition of an internet troll:
Quote:

a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Rap trolls every thread with a couple of sentences precisely described by the above; there is no intent whatsoever to engage anyone, and every time anyone responds to him, it's nothing more than an excuse for him to post further. Even if nobody responds, he posts again and again, TROLLING for some kind of reaction. It's gotten way beyond silly by now.

So this is another case of political misuse of langage, along the lines of 'Obama is a tyrant' now its 'taxation of wealthy = holocaust' or 'affordable healthcare is the first step towards communism'.

I'd say it was sloppy thinking, but its more than that, its deliberate fearmongering when it isn't at all appropriate and the analogy is just downright offensive.

Only PARTS of that conversation were a deliberate misuse of language. I have to keep up my reputation somehow, and so I do it by interjecting at least SOME half-truths or blatant lies into whatever I'm arguing about. Also it keeps everyone on their toes.

And, again, it's not just Obama. It's also the US congress, the justices, ministers of the Commonwealth, and anyone else who spies on their own citizens and is involved in supporting western imperialism, war, and dictators.

But that's not even what we're talking about right now. Is it really necessary to derail the thread? Granted, it increases the chaos, and I'm all for that, but I would've thought the rest of you liked some semblance of order.
