The President once promised to tackle "cynicism" about what could be achieved through diplomacy. But he's nowhere near close to doing that

In a rough month of a rough year of a rough second term for Barack Obama’s foreign policy, Thursday was a particularly rough day.

It began with dour news from the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he won’t negotiate with a unified Palestinian government that includes both moderate Fatah and radical Gaza-based Hamas. Shorter version: the already-gasping Middle East peace process is likely dead for the remainder of Obama’s presidency.

The day ended with Secretary of State John Kerry’s angry speech accusing Russia of violating the diplomatic agreement Kerry co-signed a week ago in Geneva, supposedly stabilizing the crisis in eastern Ukraine. But things seem to be getting worse in Ukraine, more U.S. sanctions against Moscow appear likely, and Vladimir Putin may be gearing up for military action.

(blah blah blah... read more here -> http://time.com/76868/obama-foreign-policy-cynicism/

Obama is like Reagan, Clinton, and Bush.
All of the presidents now answer to the corporate elite and the pressures of lobby money.

Yeah, he sucks.
And that makes him different exactly HOW????

Plus: Ricky having to say "Not FOX News" is pretty much an admonition of it being crap. HAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

This caught my eye. Maybe others will see something wrong as well.

Still, Obama promised things would be different — that he would upend Washington thinking and find a new way of solving problems. That he prove those cynics wrong.

And that's the worst thing about this community agitator. But then, most of the GOP aren't TEA Party guys or gals either, and that is why they fail.
Clever how you try to shift focus away from point of the thread, Obama's utter failure.

Bush didn't lie, so there's that. No lie, no perjury there.

However, Clinton actually DID commit perjury, as much as you really hate to hear the facts.

On November 13, 1998, Clinton settled with Jones for $850,000, the entire amount of her claim, but without an apology

Clinton was stripped of his license to practice law in Arkansas for a period of five years.[18]

( And how much you willing to bet that the cigar he defiled w/ Ms Lewinksy was an illegally obtained Cuban cigar ? )

When someone tells you what you want to hear without having any proof at all for it, and you repeat that information as fact, you are lying. Like Obama with the ACA, right?

Yes, he committed perjury. And some people spend decades in prison for possession of a single joint. The law is... uneven, shall we say?

Obama's policy is failing because he's following the neocon approach. While distancing himself from the Afghanistan/ Iraq failures of his predecessor GWB by declaring victory and withdrawing troops, Obama has embroiled himself in a whole new set of failures- Setting up a "new" nation in South Sudan (in order to steal oil away from China) which is currently in civil war. Deposing a "dictator" in Libya (in order to steal the gold that Kaddafi was going to use to back a new pan-African currency) and leaving a nation, once again, a hotbed of jihadism and embroiled in civil war. Funding insurgency in Syria, once again siding with the jihadists and leaving still another nation in tatters. Isolating Iran because of Israel's paranoid fantasies. Backing the military junta in Egypt. Supporting the largest violators of human rights/biggest supporters of terrorism in the mideast - Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Now he trying the same thing in Ukraine. Great.

We did a drone strike in Yemen this week that killed over 50 Al Qaeda. That's pretty damn impressive, and very efficient, and Obama gets credit for that.

The whole world is a powder keg. There are no easy answers. I only know that a lack of strong world leadership allows tyrants and madmen to become emboldened. Our European allies are gutless. Our Asian allies are gutless. The USA can't and shouldn't do everything alone. We may have to sit on the sidelines and watch while some of these things play out. The old saying, change is inevitable, except from a vending machine applies.

Really? Still sticking w/ the insults ? Thought the board had decided to drop that term.

And either you forget, or never knew, but the " Not FOX News " reference is a bit of fun and a reference to the old board, where only the subject lines were posted, and you'd not know by whom until after you opened the thread.

And more importantly, it's also a jab at those who think that any and all negative news about Obama comes ONLY from FOX, Breitbart, or some such source. To shake their fairy tale world a bit, I emphasized that it wasn't FOX , to make a point. Even the MSM is now resigned to admit that Obama is proving his critics right. We elected a novice, and his on-the-job training has been abysmal.

Extremely doubtful. The world is full of nations who hate us- partly because we've ramapaged through nation after nation for the past 50 years or so, leaving death, destruction, and poverty in our wake.

So, what else is new? It could all be easily solved if you can manage to ignore the military-industrial complex, the transnationals, and the banks. Easy peasy!

See, this is what I mean by posting stuff that is contrafactual. There's no excuse for it, especially when you have the world at your internet fingertips.

So... how's girls' education doing in Afganistan? Oh, not so much? Taliban too much of a problem? Funny, because under the Russian-backed government, women actually graduated to become doctors and lawyers. That is, until WE decided to back the mujahideen .... "freedom fighters" we were told.... and turned it all into a jihadists clusterfuck.

Iraq. Wow. Used to be a sectarian government, Now, over 1000 people a year are killed in suicide bombings and sectarian violence. Yep, we "freed" them real good, didn't we?

Libya??? Had the highest standard of living in the region. The government gave newlyweds a down payment for a new home. Highest literacy rate, legal equality for women. Until, that is, we bombed the snot out of it and let the jihadists loose there, too.

Yeah, I can see just HOW WELL we've done with our invasions!

Don't believe me? Look it up. Look at literacy rates, before and after. Standard of living, Sectarian violence. Whether a government enforces Sharia law. Number of people killed during the invasion. Check it out for yourself.
