I have to say, Kaci Hickok, kick ass!

Here's a true American Hero being vilified for volunteering and sacrificing - true American values - and she gives as good as she gets.

Bravo Kaci kick ass in the best tradition of American Revolution. Give 'em Hell!

What I don't understand is why people are giving her a hard time, it makes no sense, especially from all those conservatives who hate government control. But here we are.

You're kidding, right ?

She's beyond selfish, if anything. Not any sort of a patriot.

If she were, she'd sacrifice 3 weeks to ensure she was Ebola free.

This is nothing but a pure political stunt, done by a Left wing bimbo. She's hoping to get a spot at the 2016 Dem convention.

Our troops , who aren't suppose to be working in close proximity w/ the infected, still have to go into quarantine , but this chick is too good for that ?

Ok, let's see if I have this straight............

She volunteers to help the poor folk over in West Africa, partly because she's a GOOD American, but partly to help contain the virus within the 3 West Africa countries - Guinea, Sierra Leone & Liberia. Nurse Hickok, who works on her free time from her normal job as a nurse in Maine, to care for the sick in Sierra Leone.

She has experience in working with Doctors without Borders and infectious diseases.
As I have come to admire about our fellow Americans who selflessly risk their lives on their free time.

So, I fully support her stance in telling people FUCK OFF, I know what I'm doing.
Plus she was thrust into the limelight by such dicks as Cuomo and Christie, who, as the medical experts that they are, brilliantly write a law that will endanger us all at the end of the day. So, yeah, obviously she's seeking fame and fortune......
the gold-digger!

If you had no symptoms and they wanted to confine you to a hut with a bucket and little else, you'd be the first to pitch a bitch. You'd be screaming bloody murder that the gub'mint was ruining your life. So, which is it to be - less government and individual freedom - or would you accept gun control?

self sacrifice, for the greater good ? Hello ?

Those doctors who caught Ebola, who all followed protocol and KNEW what they were dealing with, just like Kaci ? They still could have infected others. Ebola doesn't care.

Our troops, who also volunteered to join the military, don't have any say in the matter in where they get sent. They are isolated, and they don't even TREAT patients.

It's called being prudent. Better safe than sorry ?

And it's only 3 weeks. It's not a life time isolation.

One thing I learned about rappy over the years... the guy isn't fearlessly self-reliant. In fact, what drives him the most is FEAR: Fear of WMD (which didn't exist) caused him to support invading Iraq. Fear of jihadists caused him to support torture. And fear of Ebola is causing him to support the destruction of civil liberties. In fact, Americans in general are cowards. They were afraid of what the Japanese in America MIGHT have done during WWII, so they supported concentration camps. That statement about the only thing that we need to dear is fear itself? Doesn't apply. Just build up a boogeyman and watch Americans stampede off a cliff. It's sad, really.

It must be difficult for you to see her PoV, being a conservative.
See, conservatives don't need to be worried about spreading the Ebola virus if/when they are infected, because they are NOT WHINY SPOILED BRAT SELFISH LIBTARDS WITH A HOLIER-THAN-THOU ATTITUDE deigned to ignore CDC protocols based upon Science and Safety.

I have enjoyed hearing Medical Professionals calling radio shows pointing out that no reasonable professional would work with her because she has not the slightest clue about adhering to safe medical procedures or protocols and is a hazard to anybody she comes in contact with.

She sounds like an Affirmative Action admission to med school, and AA hire. She may have never heard of the Hippocratic Corpus line "First, Do No Harm" or in her selfish surrealism, likely just ignored it.

If somebody has been in the same country as Ebola, we need to lock them up for a minimum of 3 weeks, according to conservatives. JSF says 6 weeks.

But if they want a gun, no problem.

How about a 3-week waiting period for all gun sales? Y'know, in the interest of public safety.

Ah, so brave from a distance. So far according to the experts, no one in Texas should have gotten sick either. The fact is, they are not sure how some of the people who got sick were even exposed. I am not saying she has to sit in a tent but she is being selfish with other peoples lives. She lives in a rural area. What if she was on a subway next to you at the time her temperature starts to rise? What if she is sitting next to you when she first becomes contagious? This is a gray area and this is why she is a moron.

This all or nothing patriotism crap is an all or nothing argument. It is bullshit and ignorant. To suggest that her patriotism being challenged is a part of this discussion is a fallacy.

There is no medical or scientific reason for her to be quarantined.

You can say that it's "just being prudent" all you want, but none of that has any basis in reality.

If we're "just being prudent," then let's ban gun sales and ownership and save 30,000 lives a year.

Sure, you can say that's crazy, but you're being awfully cavalier with other peoples' lives at that point, aren't you?

People who believe those two nurses in Texas "shouldn't have gotten sick" don't know the first thing about the conditions they were forced to work in. And you haven't shown any piece of evidence from "the experts" who made such a claim (probably because no experts have made that claim).

If I am near an Ebola patient who is symptomatic, I'll do my best to take care of them to the best of my ability, and I'll watch myself for symptoms of Ebola. What I won't do is panic, shit my panties, and hide under the bed. I leave that to the rest of you cowards.

The raptard has claimed that Ebola is easier to catch than AIDS, and apparently believes it is far more deadly, yet Ebola has been around in humans at least since 1976, and has killed far fewer people than AIDS. He has so far been completely unable to explain these seeming contradictions.

Are you saying guns are transmittable without knowledge of the carrier?
For public safety, many states require completion of a gun safety course. I would not be bothered with this requirement everywhere, if it isn't already.

And many don't. But this is another argument.

Here is a bit of up to date information, without the gnashing of teeth and reaching for the pitchforks.

http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/transmission/human-transmission.html

Including a very clear graph outlining when the disease is most transmittable.

Evidence is still overwhelmingly that bodily fluids is the easiest way to transmit, with skin to skin being less chance of contagion.

I do not know what it is you people don't get. I am not suggesting complete isolation. Also the government could step in and compensate them for any earning lost due to them avoiding working for three weeks.

Until the CDC can say with certainty exactly when each individual will become contagious, then there information is badly flawed. Why can't you see that someone can become contagious while in a crowded area? Even Dr. Snyder who said she would follow a self induced isolation did not follow her own promise.

When relying on the fact that all people will do the right thing inevitably things go wrong.

What "experts"? What parameters have they moved?

Of course your "facts" can be disputed, because you haven't offered any. You've offered speculation and innuendo and tried to claim them as facts and as indisputable. I don't accept your basic premise, and that is what you reject and why you cannot be reasoned with, and why you cannot discuss this rationally. You have no rational ability and no critical thinking skills. You do not think, do not act; you only *REACT*, like a wild animal. You are incapable of planning ahead, but only fear the present moment.

I don't. I'm in an area with confirmed Ebola, and I'm not panicked. I go to work, I go out in public, I was in a crowd of tens of thousands yesterday and will be again tomorrow, and I am not the least bit worried about getting sick with Ebola. I'm more likely to be killed by OJ Simpson than to die of Ebola in the U.S. I will happily play those odds. I am statistically more likely to win the PowerBall lottery than to die of Ebola in this country. If you damn those who buy lottery tickets as "math challenged" then you really have to damn yourself as the same kind of idiot for being paranoid about Ebola.

The fact that you can't fathom that reality is what makes rational discussion with you impossible. You are slave to your ideology, and can't be dissuaded out of your wrong-headed beliefs by any amount of facts.

Of course you're afraid. You've made that abundantly clear.

The fact that you're afraid doesn't mean your fear is justified, though. As a child, I was afraid of monsters under the bed. That didn't mean there were actually monsters under my bed.

You can't get Ebola from someone looking at you. You can't get it from someone being in the same city as you. You can't get it from the toilet seat. You can get it by swapping bodily fluids with someone who is contagious.

But by all means, keep screaming and hiding under the bed. Your kind will always find something to be terrified of, whether it's Ebola, or Big Government, or immigrants, or Muslims, or Jews, or blacks, or women...

Freedom vs. 3 Frelling weeks, Hmmmmmmmmmm, let's see.................

Americans love their freedom. Where were Christie and Cuomo when she went to West Africa to volunteer. Okay, you say she should allow herself to be imprisoned like a criminal because she tried to save lives. Not only that, she tested negative.

Could you explain to me how you can get Ebola from someone who tests NEGATIVE?

That means she doesn't have EBOLA!!!

The guy who died had EBOLA and 2 nurses from the hospital that treated him were infected. How did they know this? Because they were tested and were diagnosed POSITIVE. Meanwhile the family that stayed with him, while he was symptomatic, didn't get the EBOLA virus. Explain that one to me, oh great one!

His family was quarantined for 3 weeks and they never got the virus. They tested NEGATIVE - before, during and after. The doctor in New York tested positive (a doctor who also worked with Doctors without Borders) and no one in NY has gotten the EBOLA virus.

Okay, forget that.

Do you think that Dr. Christie knows more about the disease than someone who risked their lives on a daily basis? She knew her rights and had the BALLS to tell Christie to Sit Down and Shut Up! He had no choice but to let her go, she tested negative - so he backed down (no matter what he says).

Then that stupid governor in Maine, had to shut up when the judge ruled in her favor. That Tea Party jerk couldn't do shit. Yea, the real America, of thee I sing. So 3 frelling weeks may not be much to you, but to her it meant fighting against abject stupidity and hysteria in this country.

Please, self-sacrifice, try telling that to her face......I dare ya!

How about a 3-week waiting period for all gun sales? Y'know, in the interest of public safety.

Because of your oft-times ignorant postings I decided to respond with a modicum of intelligence:

Doctors without Borders has a strict vetting process and accepts only those with experience in the field. Long story short, she had to go through a screening process to become a member of the charitable group.

Besides, I did a little digging; They don't accept assholes.

This is nothing but a pure political stunt, done by a Left wing bimbo. She's hoping to get a spot at the 2016 Dem convention.

Our troops , who aren't suppose to be working in close proximity w/ the infected, still have to go into quarantine , but this chick is too good for that ?

What I am attempting to make clear is that I disagree with you on the topic.

What scares me is your ignorance and the sky is falling approach you take in trying to make your case.

America loves a winner!

A Maine official said Friday that Kaci Hickox’s roommate while she helped Ebola patients in Africa has been diagnosed with Ebola, WAGM-TV reports.

“The respondent’s roommate in Africa became infected without knowing how she became infected with Ebola,” said Sheila Pinette with the Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adding that “any potential risk to respondent from that incident has passed.”

It’s also unclear exactly how Dallas nurses Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, the only two people to become infected with Ebola within the U.S., contracted the disease.

Hickox worked as a nurse treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders and was the subject of a forced, three-day quarantine in New Jersey when she registered a slight fever when she returned to the U.S.

Maine officials have requested that Hickox quarantine herself at her home until the 21-day incubation period for Ebola is up on Nov. 10, but she’s refused to cooperate. A Maine judge rejected the state’s request for a court-ordered quarantine on Friday.

“The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola,” Judge Charles LaVerdiere wrote. “The court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational.”

Hickox has been adamant that the quarantine request is not “based on science” and her former employer, Doctors Without Borders, has warned that the quarantines are “chilling” their efforts to keep volunteers coming to West Africa to help fight the Ebola crisis there.

But a vast majority of Americans support quarantines. A CBS News poll Wednesday found that 80 percent of Americans support quarantines for not only health care workers, but any travelers returning from West Africa. (RELATED: Nobel-Prize Winning Physician Backs Ebola Quarantine For Health Workers)

Huh. Doesn't quite support your case, does it?

And the claim that the roommate doesn't know how she became infected does not mean it's not knowable. You become infected by coming into contact with the bodily fluids and excretions of those who are symptomatic. It's not rocket science.

It's amazing how much stock you claim to put in science and reason, right up until it actually proves something you personally disagree with. At that point, you decide science is all garbage and can't be trusted to tell us anything at all.

Her roommate *WAS* infected w/ Ebola.

If you're going to speak of comprehending, start by healing they own stupid self.

Yes, her roommate in Africa WAS infected with Ebola. And yet, she herself remains uninfected.

I know it's hard for you to comprehend how a disease with a roughly 50% communicability could come down to basically a coin-flip as to whether you'll get it if you're in close proximity to someone who has it. I really do get that you don't comprehend statistics and odds. I really do.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how a disease that you swear is easier to get than AIDS, and that's been around longer than AIDS, has still infected so very few people compared to AIDS.

Are you ever going to explain yourself, or should we all just accept that you're making shit up and you really have no idea what the hell you're talking about?

Oh, I have. And I have to confess, I don't know any "street coroners".

I might advise you to do some research as well. You've been citing nothing but rumor and innuendo since you started posting on this topic. The facts do not bear out a single conservative talking point, but by all means, don't ever let the facts stand in your way.

I've asked more than once for your cites, for your so-called "experts" who have claimed that nobody knows what's happening and that the information keeps changing. You have refused to provide any such details, instead railing on about how little "we" know, simply because you yourself have chosen to remain ignorant and ineducable on this subject. If anyone is acting on emotion and bullshit, it is you, you narrow-minded twit. You've yet to post a single real fact in any of this discussion, and you want to throw a bitch-fit when you're called on your idiocy.

And speaking of facts, here's some handy info that shows that the raptard is indeed full of shit when he claims it's easier to get Ebola than AIDS. Since he won't provide any cites for his specious claims, I'll post the data that I've found.

Note that Ebola has both a lower morbidity rate and a lower R0 (infectious rate or contagion rate) than HIV.

Now go back to your regularly-scheduled panic and bed-shitting.

Really!? You've got to be fucking kidding me!

It is exact - you can only get EBOLA from fluids from an infected person, who is symptomatic. Vomit, diarrhea, blood after contracting the virus.

How is it that the very first affected person that landed in Dallas, that his family never contracted the disease? They were living in close quarters. Explain that one.

Nurse HickoX - never became infected, she tested negative. To this day, she's EBOLA free.

As already has been explained, the more symptomatic an infected person is, the greater the potential they have in spreading the disease.
